Abu Hubayrah reports about Sayyiduna Habib bin Maslamah al-Fihri (may Allah be pleased with him), whose supplications were answered, that he was appointed commander of an army. When he faced the enemy, he said to the people: I heard the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "When some people gather, and one of them supplicates while the rest say Amin, Allah Almighty answers their supplication." Then, after praising and glorifying Allah Almighty, he said: "O Allah! Spare our blood from being shed, and make our rewards the reward of the martyrs." While he was still supplicating, al-Hanbat, the commander of the enemy, dismounted and entered upon Sayyiduna Habib in his tent.
Al-Tabarani recorded it, and he says: The word 'Hanbat' in the Roman language means the commander of the army; the narrators of this report are the narrators of the 'Sahih', except Ibn Lahi'ah, and he is hasan al-hadith (his hadith is good).
