Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Indeed your Lord is Modest and Generous; He is too modest to let a servant raise both his hands and then send them back (to him) empty, with no good in them. (The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:) So when any one of you raises both hands, he should say:
'Ya Hayyu ya Qayyum, la ilaha illa anta, ya arhamar-rahimin' (O Ever-Living, O Self-Subsisting! There is no god besides You, You alone are God; O Most Merciful of those who show mercy!)
He should recite these words three times; then when he lowers both hands, that is, after the supplication, he should pour that goodness over his face (that is, after the supplication he should wipe both hands over his face)."
Al-Tabarani recorded it; its chain contains al-Jarud bin Yazid, who is matruk (abandoned).
