Sayyiduna Amr bin Abasah al-Sulami (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The two worst tribes among the Arabs are Najran and Banu Taghlib."
Ahmad recorded it, and its narrators are thiqat (trustworthy).

Sayyiduna Rafi' bin Khadij (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The delegations of the Arabs used to come to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). No delegation came to us harder of heart than Banu Hanifah, nor more likely than them to be such that Islam had not settled in their hearts.
Al-Tabarani recorded it; its chain contains Muhammad bin Umar al-Waqidi, who is da'if (weak).

Sayyiduna Abu Barzah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The most disliked of people to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him)—(the narrator is in doubt, or perhaps the words are:)—the most disliked of the tribes, were Thaqif and Banu Hanifah.
Ahmad bin Hanbal recorded it, and Abu Ya'la also recorded it, though he narrated these words: "Banu Umayyah, Thaqif and Banu Hanifah (were the most disliked)." Al-Tabarani also recorded it likewise. The narrators of these reports are the narrators of the Sahih, except Abdullah bin Mutarrif bin al-Shikhkhir, and he is thiqah (trustworthy).

And the worst of the tribes of the Arabs are Banu Umayyah, Banu Hanifah and Thaqif."

It is reported about Sayyiduna Abdullah bin al-Zubayr (may Allah be pleased with them both) that he stood at the door through which one enters the mosque—that is, the mosque of Mina. He praised and extolled Allah Almighty and then said: "Indeed, these slaves, disbelievers and transgressors have set out to attack me." The narrator says: After that he mentioned the whole report.
Abu Ya'la recorded it; its chain contains Furat bin al-Ahnaf, who is da'if (weak). Before this, at the beginning of the Book on freeing slaves, it has passed that whoever takes out something to give in charity and then finds no recipient other than a Berber should take that charity back. The chain of that report contains Ibn Lahi'ah, whose narration is hasan (good), and the narrators of this report are thiqat (trustworthy). Likewise there is a report with the words: "Faith will not go beyond their throats," and
this report is da'if (weak). Likewise, in the Book of the Caliphate and the Book of Trials there are reports about Banu al-Hakam and others which there is no need to repeat.

Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) reports this saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): "A man who believes in Allah Almighty and the Last Day will not hate the Ansar, and a man who believes in Allah Almighty and the Last Day will not love Thaqif." (Allamah al-Haythami says:) I say:
Al-Tirmidhi recorded this report, but he did not mention Thaqif.
Al-Tabarani recorded it, and its narrators are the narrators of the Sahih, except al-Tabarani's teacher Yahya bin Uthman bin Salih al-Sahmi, who is saduq (truthful); there is a disagreement about him that does no harm.

It is reported about Abu al-Qayn that once he passed by the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and at that time he had some dates with him. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) stretched out his hand to take a handful of dates from him to spread before his Companions, but he pressed the edge of his cloak against his stomach and his chest. So the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to him: "May Allah Almighty increase your stinginess."
Al-Tabarani recorded it; its chain contains Sa'id bin Jumhan, whom a group declared thiqah (trustworthy), and there is disagreement about him; the remaining narrators of this report are the narrators of the Sahih.

Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "If you wish to see a man who is feeble and who is obeyed by his people, then look at this one." (Perhaps the word "feeble" here is used in the sense of being foolish, because other reports mention that he (peace and blessings be upon him) called this man 'a fool who is obeyed'.) The narrator says: By this the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) meant Uyaynah bin Hisn.
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat, and its narrators are thiqat (trustworthy).

Amr bin al-Asamm narrates that he went to Sayyiduna Imam al-Hasan bin Ali (may Allah be pleased with them both), who at that time was in the house of Amr bin Hurayth. We said: Some people claim that Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) will return to the world before the Day of Resurrection. Sayyiduna Imam al-Hasan (may Allah be pleased with him) laughed and said: Subhan Allah (Glory be to Allah)! Had we known that, we would not have let his wives remarry, nor would we have divided his inheritance among ourselves.
Al-Tabarani recorded it; I do not know the narrator named Amr, and the remaining narrators of this report are the narrators of the Sahih.

Abu Yahya narrates: I was present there; Sayyiduna Imam al-Hasan (may Allah be pleased with him), Sayyiduna Imam al-Husayn (may Allah be pleased with him) and Marwan were present. There was a bitter exchange of words between Sayyiduna Imam al-Husayn (may Allah be pleased with him) and Marwan, and Sayyiduna Imam al-Hasan (may Allah be pleased with him) was trying to quieten Sayyiduna Imam al-Husayn (may Allah be pleased with him). Meanwhile Marwan said: The Ahl al-Bayt are accursed (we seek refuge in Allah from that). Sayyiduna Imam al-Hasan (may Allah be pleased with him) became angry and said: You say that the Ahl al-Bayt are accursed? By Allah, Allah Almighty cursed you while you were still in your father's loins.
Al-Tabarani recorded it; its chain contains Ata' bin al-Sa'ib, whose memory became confused (ikhtilat).
