Majma al-Zawaid — Hadith 16742

Sayyiduna Sa'd bin Abi Waqqas (may Allah be pleased with him) reports this saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): "The devil of the mountain cleft has thrown him down." The narrator says: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) meant a man from the tribe of Bajilah (who had fallen down).
Ahmad and Abu Ya'la recorded it; the narrators of Ahmad are thiqat (trustworthy), and there is a disagreement about Bakr bin Qirwash that does no harm.
