It is reported about Sayyiduna Mu'awiyah (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said: O people of Sham! An Ansari narrated this hadith to me; here the narrator Shu'bah stated that by that Ansari is meant Sayyiduna Zayd bin Arqam (may Allah be pleased with him); he said: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "A group of my Ummah will always remain upon the truth." Sayyiduna Mu'awiyah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: O people of Sham! I hope that you are the ones meant by this.
Ahmad, al-Bazzar and al-Tabarani recorded it; its chain contains Abu Abdullah al-Shami, whom Ibn Abi Hatim mentioned, and no one has criticised him; the rest of its narrators are the narrators of the Sahih.

Sayyiduna Abu Umamah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "A group of my Ummah will always remain upon the religion, and they will remain dominant over their enemies; whoever opposes them will not be able to harm them, except that they will face some hardship (that is, straitness and difficulty), until the command of Allah Almighty (that is, the Hour) comes to them while they are in that very state." The people said: O Messenger of Allah! Where will they be? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: In Bayt al-Maqdis and in the surroundings of Bayt al-Maqdis."
