Sayyiduna Abu Umamah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "A group of my Ummah will always remain upon the religion, and they will remain dominant over their enemies; whoever opposes them will not be able to harm them, except that they will face some hardship (that is, straitness and difficulty), until the command of Allah Almighty (that is, the Hour) comes to them while they are in that very state." The people said: O Messenger of Allah! Where will they be? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: In Bayt al-Maqdis and in the surroundings of Bayt al-Maqdis."
Abdullah recorded it by way of "wijadah" from his father's handwriting, and al-Tabarani also recorded it, and their narrators are thiqat (trustworthy). (Allamah al-Haythami says:) Some hadiths of this kind will be mentioned in the chapter on the virtue of the people of Sham.
