Sayyiduna Abu al-Darda' (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: I heard the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "Some of them wrong themselves, some of them follow a middle course, and some of them are foremost in good deeds by the permission of Allah." (The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:) "As for those who are foremost, they are the ones who will enter Paradise without any reckoning. As for those who follow a middle course, they are the ones who will be given an easy reckoning. As for those who wrong themselves, they are the ones who wronged themselves; they will remain (for a long time) on the plain of gathering, then Allah Almighty will meet them with His mercy, and they are the ones who will say: 'All praise belongs to Allah Almighty, who has removed grief from us. Indeed, our Lord is Oft-Forgiving, Most Appreciative, who has settled us in the Abode of Permanent Stay out of His bounty, where no hardship touches us and no weariness touches us.'"
Ahmad recorded it with various chains, the narrators of one of which are the narrators of the Sahih, and it is this narration - if Ali bin Abdullah al-Azdi heard from Sayyiduna Abu al-Darda' (may Allah be pleased with him), for he is a Tabi'i.

Ali bin Abdullah al-Azdi narrates from the narrator called "the Syrian" that he entered the mosque of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), offered two rak'ahs there, and made this supplication: "O Allah, give me companionship in my loneliness, have mercy on my being a stranger, join someone to my solitude, and grant me a righteous man through whom You benefit me." There was a man beside him. When he finished (the supplication), the Syrian said: "Who are you?" That man said: "Abu al-Darda'." He said: "What made you do what I saw?" So he told him about his supplication, and he said: "If you are truthful, then I am more fortunate through your supplication than you are. Shall I not narrate to you a hadith which I will give you as a gift? I heard the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) say: 'Allah Almighty has said: "Then We made heirs to the Book those whom We had chosen from among Our servants."' (The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:) 'Those who are foremost are the ones who will enter Paradise without any reckoning'" Then the narrator mentioned the hadith as before.
Al-Tabarani recorded it, and Ahmad recorded it in abridged form, and he said: It is narrated from al-A'mash from Thabit or Abu Thabit: "A man entered the mosque, that is, the mosque of Damascus" Then the narrator mentioned the whole hadith in abridged form, and he did not mention in it that anything was narrated from Allah Almighty. Thabit bin Ubayd and the narrators before him are the narrators of the Sahih. In the chain of al-Tabarani there is a narrator whose name has not been mentioned.

Sayyiduna Awf bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "My Ummah will be of three kinds. One third will enter Paradise without any reckoning; one third will be given an easy reckoning, then they will enter Paradise; and one third will be those who are scrutinised and examined. Then the angels will come and say: 'We found these people saying that there is no god but Allah Almighty, He alone is God.' Allah Almighty will say: 'They have spoken the truth; there is no god but Me. Admit them into Paradise' - this will be because of their saying that there is no god but Allah Almighty, He alone is God - 'and place their sins upon those who denied.' (The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:) This is what Allah Almighty mentioned in these words: 'And they will surely carry their own burdens and other burdens along with their own burdens.' And its confirmation is in the passage in which the angels are mentioned, in which Allah Almighty said: 'Then We made heirs to the Book those whom We had chosen from among Our servants.' So Allah Almighty will make them into three groups, and these groups will be: 'Some of them wrong themselves' - this is the kind who will be scrutinised and examined; 'and some of them follow a middle course' - these are the ones who will be given an easy reckoning; 'and some of them are foremost in good deeds' - these are the ones who will enter Paradise without any reckoning or punishment. 'By the permission of Allah Almighty' - that is, all of them will enter Paradise by the permission of Allah Almighty, without any distinction between them. (Allah Almighty says:) 'Therein they will be adorned with bracelets of gold and pearls, and their garments therein will be of silk. And they will say: "All praise belongs to Allah Almighty, who has removed grief from us. Indeed, our Lord is Oft-Forgiving, Most Appreciative, who has settled us out of His bounty in the Abode of (eternal) Stay, where no fatigue or hardship will touch us." And for those who disbelieved there will be the fire of Hell; it will not be decreed for them that they should die, nor will its punishment be lightened for them. Thus do We recompense every ungrateful disbeliever.'"
Al-Tabarani recorded it; its chain contains a narrator, Salamah bin Rawh, whom Ibn Hibban declared thiqah (trustworthy) and a group declared da'if (weak). The remaining narrators of this narration are thiqat (trustworthy).

Uqbah bin Suhban narrates: I said to Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her): "What is your view about this statement of Allah Almighty: 'Then We made heirs to the Book those whom We had chosen from among Our servants; some of them wrong themselves, some of them follow a middle course, and some of them are foremost in good deeds by the command of Allah'?" Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) said: "As for those who are foremost, they passed away during the lifetime of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) bore witness to Paradise for them. As for those who follow a middle course, they are the ones who follow the footsteps of those (Companions) and, doing deeds like their deeds, join them. And as for those who wrong themselves, they are people like me and you and those who follow us; but all of them will go to Paradise."
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat; its chain contains a narrator, al-Salt bin Dinar, who is matruk (abandoned).
