A man reports this statement of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): "Soon there will be people who have been granted a covenant. Whoever kills one of them will not even smell the fragrance of Paradise, although its fragrance can be perceived from a distance of ninety years' travel."
Ahmad recorded it, and its narrators are the narrators of the Sahih.

(Allamah al-Haythami says:) I say:
Ibn Majah recorded it, but he did not record the words "five hundred years".

Al-Tabarani recorded it. Its chain contains a narrator, Sadaqah bin Abdullah al-Samin, whom Duhaym and others declared thiqah (trustworthy), while Ahmad and others declared him da'if (weak).

Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever unjustly kills a dhimmi will not even smell the fragrance of Paradise, although the fragrance of Paradise can be perceived from a distance of one hundred years."
(Allamah al-Haythami says:) I say:
Al-Tirmidhi and Ibn Majah recorded it, but they recorded these words: "it is a distance of seventy years".
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat from his teacher Ahmad bin al-Qasim, whom I do not know; the remaining narrators of this report are thiqat (trustworthy) and are the narrators of the Sahih, except for Mu'allil bin Nufayl, who is thiqah (trustworthy).
