Sayyiduna Buraydah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: When Sayyiduna Ja'far (may Allah be pleased with him) returned from Abyssinia, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked Sayyiduna Ja'far (may Allah be pleased with him): What is the most astonishing thing you saw? He said: I saw a woman carrying on her head a basket (or vessel) of grain. A horseman passed by; he spurred his horse and knocked the woman's vessel down. The woman sat down and began gathering her grain, then she turned and said: Woe to you! When the King (Allah Almighty) sets down His Kursi and then takes justice for the oppressed from the oppressor (then see what your state will be). The narrator says: Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), affirming what that woman had said, declared: "That nation will not be purified (the narrator is unsure; perhaps the words are:) how can that nation be purified in which the weak cannot take his right from the strong without distress?"
Al-Bazzar recorded it, and Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat. Its chain contains Ata' bin al-Sa'ib, who is thiqah (trustworthy) but his memory became confused (ikhtilat); the rest of its narrators are thiqat (trustworthy).

Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: When Sayyiduna Ja'far (may Allah be pleased with him) returned from the land of Abyssinia, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) came out to meet him. When he saw the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), his face turned red out of reverence for the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) kissed him between his eyes and said: O my beloved! You resemble me more than anyone else in my character and in my outward appearance; you too were created from the same clay from which I was created. O my beloved, tell me something astonishing about the people of Abyssinia. Sayyiduna Ja'far (may Allah be pleased with him) said: Yes, may my father and mother be sacrificed for you, O Messenger of Allah! Once I was standing on a road, and meanwhile an old woman passed by with a vessel on her head. Then a young man came, spurring on his horse; he passed by that woman and the vessel fell from her head. The woman stood up straight, followed the horseman with her gaze, and said: Tomorrow you will be ruined, when the King sits on His Kursi and exacts retribution for the oppressed from the oppressor. Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: I looked at the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and he said: "Allah Almighty does not purify a nation in which the oppressed cannot take his right from the oppressor without distress."
Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat; its chain contains Makki bin Abdullah al-Ru'ayni, who is da'if (weak).

Sayyidah Aishah Siddiqah (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates: Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) intended to build a house. Quraysh said: Shall we not stop Ibn Umm Abd from building a house among us? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Shall I give an order about that? Then I would be an oppressor. Allah Almighty does not purify a nation in which (the right) of the weak is not taken from the strong."
Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat; its chain contains al-Muthanna bin al-Sabbah, who is matruk (abandoned), though according to one report Yahya bin Ma'in declared him thiqah (trustworthy). The hadith of Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) himself about this same incident has already passed in the Book of Rulings (Kitab al-Ahkam), and other hadiths of this kind are mentioned in this chapter.

Rabi'ah bin Yazid narrates: Sayyiduna Mu'awiyah (may Allah be pleased with him) wrote to Maslamah bin Mukhallad: Ask Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Amr bin al-As (may Allah be pleased with him) whether he heard the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "Purity is not granted to a nation whose weak member cannot take his right from its strong member without distress." If he answers yes, then send him (to me) on the postal relay mounts. Maslamah bin Mukhallad asked Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Amr (may Allah be pleased with him) about it, and he answered: Yes. So Maslamah bin Mukhallad sent him on the postal relay mounts from Egypt to Syria. Sayyiduna Mu'awiyah (may Allah be pleased with him) asked him, and he told him. Then Sayyiduna Mu'awiyah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: I too heard this from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) himself, but I wanted to verify it further.
Tabarani recorded it, and its narrators are thiqat (trustworthy).
