Sayyiduna Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever goes to a soothsayer and believes what he says has disbelieved in what was revealed to Sayyiduna Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him)."
Al-Bazzar recorded it, and its narrators are the narrators of the Sahih, except Uqbah bin Sinan, who is thiqah (trustworthy).

Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat from his teacher Mus'ab bin Ibrahim bin Hamzah al-Dahri, and I do not know him. The remaining narrators of this report are the narrators of the Sahih.

Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat. Its chain contains Rishdin bin Sa'd, who is da'if (weak), though he has been declared trustworthy in hadiths on heart-softening matters (al-riqaq); the remaining narrators of this report are thiqat (trustworthy).

Sayyiduna Wathilah bin al-Asqa' (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: I heard the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "Whoever goes to a soothsayer and asks him about something, repentance is veiled from him for forty days; and if he believes what he says, he commits disbelief."
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat. In another narration of his, in place of the words "and believes him" the words are: "if he has faith in what he says." Its chain contains Sulayman bin Ahmad al-Wasiti, who is matruk (abandoned).

Sayyiduna Abu al-Darda' (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "He will not attain the high ranks who practises soothsaying, or seeks divination with arrows, or turns back from a journey because of an omen (or ill omen)."

In one narration the words are: "Or takes an ill omen that turns him back from a journey, he will not (even) look upon the high ranks."
