Majma al-Zawaid — Hadith 8485

Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever goes to a soothsayer and believes what he says has disowned what was revealed to Sayyiduna Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him); and whoever goes to him without believing him, his prayer is not accepted for forty days."
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat. Its chain contains Rishdin bin Sa'd, who is da'if (weak), though he has been declared trustworthy in hadiths on heart-softening matters (al-riqaq); the remaining narrators of this report are thiqat (trustworthy).
