It is reported about Sayyiduna Shaddad bin Aws (may Allah be pleased with him) that once he wept. He was asked: "Why are you weeping?" He replied: "Something I heard from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) has made me weep. I heard the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) say: 'What I fear most for my Ummah is shirk (associating partners with Allah) and hidden desire.' I said: 'O Messenger of Allah! Will your Ummah commit shirk after you?' The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: 'Yes. They will not worship the sun, the moon, a stone or an idol, but they will show off with their deeds. And hidden desire is that one of them begins the morning fasting, then one of his desires presents itself to him, and he abandons his fast.'" (Allamah Haythami says:) I say:
