بَابُ رُبَّ صَائِمٍ حَظُّهُ مِنْ صِيَامِهِ الْجُوعُ .
Many a fasting person gets nothing from his fast but hunger

عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ قَالَ " قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " رُبَّ صَائِمٍ حَظُّهُ مِنْ صِيَامِهِ الْجُوعُ وَالْعَطَشُ ، وَرُبَّ قَائِمٍ حَظُّهُ مِنْ قِيَامِهِ السَّهَرُ " .
رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ فِي الْكَبِيرِ ، وَرِجَالُهُ مُوَثَّقُونَ .

Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "For some fasting people, their share of their fasting is only hunger and thirst, and for some who offer night prayers, their share of their prayers is only staying awake at night."
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir, and its narrators have been declared trustworthy.
