Sayyiduna Thawban (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was fasting, outside Ramadan. He vomited, so he performed ablution (wudu) and broke his fast. I said: "O Messenger of Allah! Were you not fasting?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Yes. But I vomited, so I broke my fast." The narrator says: The next day I heard the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "Today (I am fasting) in place of the fast I broke yesterday." (Allamah Haythami says:) I say: Abu Dawud and other hadith scholars have recorded a report from Sayyiduna Thawban (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) vomited and broke his fast.
Al-Bazzar recorded it. Its chain contains Utbah bin al-Sakan al-Himsi, and he is matruk (abandoned).
