Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: We went out with the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) to Khaybar. One of our men went into a ruin to relieve himself. He took a brick to clean himself with, and gold came out from beneath it. He took it, brought it to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and told him about it. He said: "Weigh it." He weighed it, and it was worth two hundred dirhams. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "This is buried treasure (rikaz), and one fifth is due on it."
Ahmad and al-Bazzar recorded it. Its chain contains Abd al-Rahman bin Zayd bin Aslam, and he has been criticised; Ibn Adi declared him thiqah (trustworthy).

Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "(Damage) done by an animal is not compensated; (dying by falling into) a well is not compensated; (dying in) a mine is not compensated; and on buried treasure one fifth is due." Imam al-Sha'bi says: "Rikaz" means ancient treasure (that is, buried treasure).
Ahmad, al-Bazzar and al-Tabarani in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat recorded it; its narrators have been declared trustworthy.

Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir. Its chain contains Yazid bin Sinan; he has been criticised, and he has also been declared trustworthy.

Sayyiduna Zayd bin Arqam (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) sent Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) as governor of Yemen. Buried treasure (rikaz) was brought to him; he took one fifth of it and gave the remaining portion to the person concerned. When the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) learned of this, he was pleased with it.
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir. Its chain contains a narrator who is not named.

Abu Ya'la recorded it. Its chain contains Abdullah bin Sa'id bin Abi Sa'id, and he is da'if (weak).

It is narrated from him that he said: I heard the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "Minerals will appear in the land of Banu Sulaym, called Fir'awn or Fir'an (and in the speech of Abu Jahm these two words are almost the same). The worst of people will go out to it, (the narrator is in doubt, or perhaps the words are:) the worst of people will be gathered to it."
Abu Ya'la recorded it, and its narrators are thiqat (trustworthy).

Sarra' bint Nabhan al-Ghanawiyyah narrates: (The members of) a tribe were digging in the quarter of Kilab and found a treasure. The people of Kilab said: "This is our place." The tribe said: "We dug it up." They presented their case before the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) ruled in favour of the tribe and took one fifth from them. (The female narrator says:) With what came to our share of it we bought one hundred animals. We brought them to the tribe, and the zakah collector wanted to impose zakah on us, but we refused. We came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "If you have used that money for some other purpose (then pay); otherwise nothing is due from you this year." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) also said: "When the zakah collector leaves a people while he is pleased with them, Allah Almighty is also pleased with those people; and when the zakah collector leaves them in a state of anger with them, Allah Almighty is also angry with those (people)."
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir. Its chain contains Ahmad bin al-Harith al-Ghassani, and he is da'if (weak).

Al-Hasan al-Basri narrates: This narration has reached me that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Dying by falling into a mine is not compensated; dying by falling from an animal is not compensated; dying by falling into a well is not compensated; and on buried treasure one fifth is due."
Ahmad recorded it as a mursal narration, and its chain is sahih (authentic).
