عَنْ سَعْدِ بْنِ أَبِي ذُبَابٍ قَالَ : قَدِمْتُ عَلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقُلْتُ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، اجْعَلْ لِقَوْمِي مَا أَسْلَمُوا عَلَيْهِ ، فَفَعَلَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَاسْتَعْمَلَنِي عَلَيْهِمْ ، ثُمَّ اسْتَعْمَلَنِي أَبُو بَكْرٍ مِنْ بَعْدِهِ .
قَالَ : فَقَدِمْتُ عَلَى قَوْمِي فَقُلْتُ : فِي الْعَسَلِ زَكَاةٌ ; فَإِنَّهُ لَا خَيْرَ فِي مَالٍ لَا يُزَكَّى . قَالَ : فَقَالُوا لِي : كَمْ تَرَى ؟ قَالَ : فَقُلْتُ : الْعُشْرُ ، قَالَ : فَأَخَذَ مِنْهُمُ الْعُشْرَ ، فَقَدِمَ بِهِ عَلَى عُمَرَ فَأَخْبَرَهُ بِمَا فِيهِ ، وَأَخَذَهُ عُمَرُ فَبَاعَهُ ، وَجُعِلَ فِي صَدَقَاتِ الْمُسْلِمِينَ .
رَوَاهُ الْبَزَّارُ ، وَالطَّبَرَانِيُّ فِي الْكَبِيرِ ، وَفِيهِ مُنِيرُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، وَهُوَ ضَعِيفٌ .
قَالَ : فَقَدِمْتُ عَلَى قَوْمِي فَقُلْتُ : فِي الْعَسَلِ زَكَاةٌ ; فَإِنَّهُ لَا خَيْرَ فِي مَالٍ لَا يُزَكَّى . قَالَ : فَقَالُوا لِي : كَمْ تَرَى ؟ قَالَ : فَقُلْتُ : الْعُشْرُ ، قَالَ : فَأَخَذَ مِنْهُمُ الْعُشْرَ ، فَقَدِمَ بِهِ عَلَى عُمَرَ فَأَخْبَرَهُ بِمَا فِيهِ ، وَأَخَذَهُ عُمَرُ فَبَاعَهُ ، وَجُعِلَ فِي صَدَقَاتِ الْمُسْلِمِينَ .

Sayyiduna Sa'd bin Abi Dhubab (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: I came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and said: "O Messenger of Allah! Assign to my people that (property) upon which they accepted Islam." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) did so, and he appointed me as an official over them. After him, Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) also appointed me as an official over them. The narrator says: I came to my people and said: "There is zakah on honey, for there is no good in wealth on which zakah is not paid." They asked me: "How much do you think it should be?" I said: "One tenth." So he took one tenth from them, brought it to Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) and informed him about it. Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) took that honey from him, sold it, and added it to the charities of the Muslims.

وَعَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " فِي الْعَسَلِ الْعُشْرُ ، فِي كُلِّ ثِنْتَيْ عَشْرَةَ قِرْبَةً قِرْبَةٌ ، وَلَيْسَ فِيمَا دُونَ ذَلِكَ شَيْءٌ " .

Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "One tenth is due on honey: out of every twelve waterskins, one waterskin is due. Nothing is due on less than that."
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat, and al-Tirmidhi recorded it in abridged form. Its chain contains Sadaqah bin Abdullah; he has been heavily criticised, while Imam Abu Hatim and others declared him thiqah (trustworthy).
