Sarra' bint Nabhan al-Ghanawiyyah narrates: (The members of) a tribe were digging in the quarter of Kilab and found a treasure. The people of Kilab said: "This is our place." The tribe said: "We dug it up." They presented their case before the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) ruled in favour of the tribe and took one fifth from them. (The female narrator says:) With what came to our share of it we bought one hundred animals. We brought them to the tribe, and the zakah collector wanted to impose zakah on us, but we refused. We came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "If you have used that money for some other purpose (then pay); otherwise nothing is due from you this year." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) also said: "When the zakah collector leaves a people while he is pleased with them, Allah Almighty is also pleased with those people; and when the zakah collector leaves them in a state of anger with them, Allah Almighty is also angry with those (people)."
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir. Its chain contains Ahmad bin al-Harith al-Ghassani, and he is da'if (weak).
