Sayyiduna Sa'd bin Ubadah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated: A man from the Ansar came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and said: "Tell us about the day of Friday: what good is there in it?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "There are five distinctions in it: on this day Sayyiduna Adam (peace be upon him) was created; on this day he was sent down; on this day Allah Almighty caused Sayyiduna Adam (peace be upon him) to die; on this day there is an hour in which, whatever a servant asks of Allah Almighty, Allah Almighty grants it to him, as long as he has not asked for something sinful or for the severing of family ties; and on this very day the Hour will be established. Every angel brought near, the heaven, the earth, the mountains and the stones remain fearful of the day of Friday (lest the Hour be established today)."
Imam Ahmad and Imam al-Bazzar recorded it, though in it he reported these words: "The master of days is the day of Friday."
Imam al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir; its chain contains a narrator, Abdullah bin Muhammad bin Aqil, about whom there has been criticism, though he has also been declared trustworthy; the remaining narrators of this narration are thiqat (trustworthy). (Allamah al-Haythami says:) I say: The hadith narrated from Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) and Sayyiduna Mu'adh bin Jabal has passed earlier (that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said): "The Jews envy us regarding Friday." It has passed earlier in the chapter on the qiblah and saying Amin.

Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated: The day of Friday was presented to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). Sayyiduna Jibril came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) holding in his palm a clear mirror, in the middle of which there was a black spot. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked: "O Jibril, what is this?" He said: "This is the day of Friday, which your Lord has presented to you so that it may be a festival ('Id) for you and for your Ummah after you. There is good in it for you all: you are the first (to be given this day), and the days of the Jews and the Christians come after it. On this day there is an hour in which, whatever good a servant asks of his Lord, if it is in his portion, Allah Almighty will grant it to him; or whatever evil he seeks refuge from, Allah Almighty will ward off from him something greater than it. We (the angels) call it in the Hereafter 'the Day of Increase' (Yawm al-Mazid)." After this the narrator mentioned the complete hadith. (Allamah al-Haythami says:) I say: If Allah wills,
this narration will come later in the chapter on the description of Paradise.
Imam al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat, and its narrators are thiqat (trustworthy); Imam Abu Ya'la recorded part of it.

In a narration from Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) he reported these words: He narrated that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The days were presented to me, and among them the day of Friday was presented to me. It was like a white mirror, in the middle of which there was a black spot. I asked: 'What is this (black spot)?' I was told: 'The Hour.'" The narrators of this narration are the narrators of the Sahih, except for the teacher of Imam al-Tabarani, and he is thiqah (trustworthy).

Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was asked: "For what reason has the day of Friday (Jumu'ah) been given this name?" He said: "The reason is that the clay of your forefather, Sayyiduna Adam (peace be upon him), was prepared on this day; on this very day the Resurrection will come and people will be raised to life again; on this very day the seizing will take place; and among the last three hours of this day there is an hour such that whoever supplicates to Allah Almighty in that hour, his supplication will be answered."
Ahmad recorded it.

He has recorded, in one narration from Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him), these words. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The sun does not rise or set upon any day that has more excellence than the day of Friday (the narrator is unsure; perhaps the words are:) that has more greatness." After that, the narrator mentioned the narration as before. The narrators of both these narrations are the narrators of the Sahih.

Its people will go along with it just as a bride is escorted to her chamber. The day will give light, and the people will be walking in its light. Their complexion will be like white snow and their fragrance like musk. They will wade through mountains of camphor, and the jinn and mankind will be looking at them, not blinking out of amazement, until they enter Paradise. No (other) person will be included with them except those who give the call to prayer (adhan) seeking the reward (of Allah)."
