بَابُ التَّطَوُّعِ فِي السَّفَرِ قَبَلَ الصَّلَاةِ وَبَعْدَهَا .

عَنْ قَتَادَةَ أَنَّ ابْنَ مَسْعُودٍ وَعَائِشَةَ كَانَا يَتَطَوَّعَانِ فِي السَّفَرِ قَبْلَ الصَّلَاةِ وَبَعْدَهَا .
رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ فِي الْكَبِيرِ وَقَتَادَةُ لَمْ يَسْمَعْ مِنِ ابْنِ مَسْعُودٍ وَلَا عَائِشَةَ ، وَبَقِيَّةُ رِجَالِهِ ثِقَاتٌ .
رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ فِي الْكَبِيرِ وَقَتَادَةُ لَمْ يَسْمَعْ مِنِ ابْنِ مَسْعُودٍ وَلَا عَائِشَةَ ، وَبَقِيَّةُ رِجَالِهِ ثِقَاتٌ .
Qatadah narrated: Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) and Sayyidah Aishah al-Siddiqah (may Allah be pleased with her) would offer voluntary prayers during a journey before and after the (obligatory) prayer.
Imam al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir; the narrator named Qatadah did not hear from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him), nor did he hear from Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her); the remaining narrators of this narration are thiqat (trustworthy).

وَعَنْ ثَوْبَانَ قَالَ : كُنَّا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - فِي سَفَرٍ فَقَالَ : " إِنَّ هَذِهِ السَّفْرَةَ جُهْدٌ وَتَفَلٌ فَإِذَا أَوْتَرَ أَحَدُكُمْ فَلْيَرْكَعْ رَكْعَتَيْنِ فَإِنِ اسْتَيْقَظَ وَإِلَّا كَانَتَا لَهُ " .
رَوَاهُ الْبَزَّارُ وَفِيهِ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ صَالِحٍ كَاتِبُ اللَّيْثِ وَاخْتُلِفَ فِي الِاحْتِجَاجِ بِهِ .

Sayyiduna Thawban (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated: We were travelling with the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and he said: "This journey is a cause of hardship and fatigue. When any of you prays witr, let him offer two rak'ahs; if he wakes up, well and good; otherwise these two (rak'ahs) will count for him."
Imam al-Bazzar recorded it; its chain contains a narrator, Abdullah bin Salih, the scribe of al-Layth, about whom there is disagreement regarding using him as evidence.
