Praying in sandals

Sayyiduna Mujammi' bin Jariyah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that he saw the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) praying in sandals.
Ahmad recorded it; its chain contains a narrator, Yazid bin Iyad, who is munkar al-hadith (his narrations are rejected).

Mujammi' bin Ya'qub narrates from a boy of the people of Quba, whom he met when that man had become elderly, that he said: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) came to us at Quba and sat at the entrance of the fortress, and people gathered around him. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked for something to drink and was given water. I was on his right, and I was the youngest of the people. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) passed the water to me and I drank. I remember that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) led us in prayer that day while wearing sandals, and he did not take them off.
Ahmad recorded it; he named this Companion as Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abi Habibah (may Allah be pleased with him), and it is likewise in another narration. Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir. The narrators of Ahmad have been declared trustworthy, and al-Bazzar recorded it in abridged form: "The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) prayed in sandals." He said: To our knowledge, only this narration is reported from Ibn Abi Habibah.

Ziyad al-Harithi narrates: I heard a man ask Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him): Are you the one who forbids people to pray in sandals? Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: Yes! By the Lord of this sanctuary! Yes! By the Lord of this sanctuary! Yes! By the Lord of this sanctuary! I saw Sayyiduna Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) praying in his sandals facing this Maqam (Station), and when he finished the prayer, he was still wearing the sandals.
Ahmad recorded it, and al-Bazzar recorded it in abridged form; its narrators are thiqat (trustworthy), except for Ziyad bin al-Awbar al-Harithi, for I have not found anyone giving his biography who declared him either thiqah (trustworthy) or weak.

Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) would pray standing, sitting, barefoot and wearing sandals (in every manner), and (after finishing the prayer) he would turn away to the right or to the left (that is, to either side).
Ahmad recorded it; its chain contains a narrator, Ziyad al-Harithi, about whom discussion has already preceded.

Humayd bin Hilal al-Adawi narrates: I was told by someone who heard a Bedouin saying: I saw the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) while he was praying, wearing sandals of cowhide. He spat to his left and then rubbed the place where he had spat with his sandal.
Ahmad recorded it; its chain contains a narrator whose name is not mentioned, and the remaining narrators of this narration are thiqat (trustworthy).

Ata', a man from Banu Shaybah who was very elderly, narrates: I saw the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) praying near this Maqam (Station), wearing sibti sandals (of tanned leather).
Al-Tabarani recorded it; its chain contains a narrator, Muhammad bin al-Qasim al-Asadi. These are two persons, and both have been declared thiqah (trustworthy), though one of them has considerable weakness; the remaining narrators of this narration are thiqat (trustworthy).

Sayyiduna Ali bin Abi Talib (may Allah be pleased with him) reports this saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): "The adornment of prayer is footwear."
Abu Ya'la recorded it; its chain contains a narrator, Muhammad bin al-Hajjaj al-Lakhmi, who is a kadhdhab (liar).

Sayyiduna Abu Bakrah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: I saw the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) praying in sandals.
Abu Ya'la and al-Bazzar recorded it; its chain contains a narrator, Bahr bin Marrar, who is one of those who suffered from ikhtilat (deterioration of memory). Yahya bin Ma'in declared him thiqah (trustworthy). In the chain of Abu Ya'la there is a narrator, Abd al-Rahman bin Uthman Abu Bahr, whom Imam Ahmad and a group (of scholars) declared weak; Yahya bin Sa'id al-Qattan held a good opinion of him and narrated hadith from him.

Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) reports this saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): "Differ from the Jews and pray in your leather socks and sandals, for they do not pray in sandals or leather socks."
Al-Bazzar recorded it.

From this Companion, al-Tabarani recorded in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) prayed in sandals and leather socks. (Allamah al-Haythami says:) I say: In the "Sahih" only this part of it is reported, that he prayed in sandals. Both these hadiths revolve around a narrator named Umar bin Nabhan, who is da'if (weak). Imam Abu Ya'la recorded only the part of this narration about praying in leather socks.

Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) prayed in sandals.
Al-Bazzar recorded it, and al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir; its chain contains a narrator, al-Nadr Abu Umar, who is extremely da'if (weak).

Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) reports this saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): Part of the completeness of prayer is that one prays wearing sandals.
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat; its chain contains a narrator, Ali bin Asim, about whom people have spoken (critically), as al-Mizzi has reported from al-Khatib.

Sayyiduna Fayruz al-Daylami (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: A delegation of the Thaqif tribe came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). They narrate: We saw the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) offering prayer while wearing matching sandals.
Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat, and its narrators are thiqat (trustworthy).

Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) offered prayer while there was a trace of mud on his sandals. He had a cloak wrapped around him, and he was trying to avoid the mud getting onto the cloak.
Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat; its chain contains a narrator, Abd al-Rahman bin Uthman, who is da'if (weak).

Sayyiduna al-Hirmas bin Ziyad al-Bahili (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: I saw the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) offering prayer while wearing sandals.
Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat and al-Mu'jam al-Kabir, and this narration is da'if (weak).

Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) led us in prayer, and he took off his sandals, so we also took off our sandals. When he completed the prayer, he asked: Why did you take off your sandals? The people submitted: We saw that you took off your sandals, so we took ours off too. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: I had grown weary of them (that is, I had become tired of them).
Tabarani recorded it; its chain contains a narrator, Muhammad bin Ubaydullah al-Arzami, who is matruk (abandoned).

Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to offer prayer while wearing sandals.
Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat. Apart from Tabarani's teacher, Muhammad bin Abd al-Rahman al-Azraq, all its narrators are thiqat (trustworthy); I do not know this man.

Sayyiduna Abu Bakrah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "When any of you takes off his sandals while offering prayer, he should not take them off and place them on his right side, otherwise he will be sinful; nor should he place them behind him, otherwise he will make his companion sinful through them. He should take them off and place them between his knees."
Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir; its chain contains a narrator, Ziyad al-Jassas, whom Yahya bin Ma'in, Ibn al-Madini and others declared da'if (weak). Ibn Hibban mentioned him in the book al-Thiqat.

Sayyiduna Aws bin Aws (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: I stayed with the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) for fifteen days. I saw him offering prayer while wearing sandals, and I saw that he would spit to the right side and also spit to the left side. (Allamah Haythami says:) I say: Imam Ibn Majah recorded from this narration only the part about offering prayer while wearing sandals.
Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir, and its narrators are thiqat (trustworthy).

Sayyidah Aishah Siddiqah (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates: I saw the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) drinking while standing and while sitting (both ways); I saw him offering prayer while wearing sandals and without sandals; and I saw him spitting to the right side and to the left side (that is, to both sides).
Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat, and its narrators are thiqat (trustworthy).

Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: While leading the people in prayer, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) took off his sandals. When the people noticed this, they also took off their sandals. When he finished the prayer, he turned towards the people and said: The angel came to me and informed me that there was filth on my sandals. When any of you comes to the mosque, he should turn his sandals over and look; if he sees anything on them, he should wipe them and then offer prayer in them.
Bazzar and Tabarani recorded it, the latter in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat, with these words: "Then he should offer prayer in them, or take them off if he sees fit." The chain of both contains a narrator, Abbad bin Kathir al-Basri, who settled in Makkah, and he is da'if (weak).

Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) took off his sandals, so the people behind him also took off their sandals. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked: Why have you taken off your sandals? The people submitted: We saw that you took them off, so we took ours off too. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Jibril informed me that there was filth on them; that is why I took them off. Do not take off your sandals! The narrator says: Ibrahim al-Nakha'i says: The people did not use to take off their sandals. The narrator says: I saw Ibrahim al-Nakha'i offering prayer while wearing sandals.
Bazzar recorded it, and Tabarani in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat and al-Mu'jam al-Kabir. Bazzar says: To our knowledge, no one narrated it in this way except Abu Hamzah. His words end here. (Allamah Haythami says:) The narrator Abu Hamzah is Maymun al-A'war, and he is da'if (weak).

Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) took off his sandals during prayer only once. (Seeing him,) the people also took off their sandals. (After the prayer,) the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked: Why have you taken off your sandals? The people submitted: We saw that you took them off, so we took ours off too. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Jibril informed me that there was filth on them.
Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat, and its narrators are the narrators of the Sahih. Bazzar recorded it in abridged form.

Sayyiduna Abdullah bin al-Shikhkhir (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: While leading us in prayer, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) took off his sandals; he was in the state of prayer at the time. The people in the row behind him also took off their sandals, and the people in the row behind them also took off their sandals. When the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) completed the prayer, he asked: Why did you take off your sandals? The people submitted: O Messenger of Allah! You took them off, so the row after you took them off, and so we took ours off too. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Jibril came to me and mentioned that there was filth on my sandals, so I took them off. Offer prayer in your sandals!
Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir; its chain contains a narrator, al-Rabi' bin Badr, who is da'if (weak).
