Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) said that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "There is no vow in disobedience, and its expiation is the expiation of an oath."
Al-Zuhri did not hear this hadith from Abu Salamah.

Abu Salamah bin Abd al-Rahman narrates from Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her), the wife of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "There is no vow in disobedience; its expiation is that of an oath."
This indicates that he (al-Zuhri) did not hear it from Abu Salamah; rather, he heard it from Sulayman bin Arqam, from Yahya bin Abi Kathir, from Abu Salamah.

Sulayman bin Bilal (may Allah have mercy on him) also mentioned it likewise.
Al-Shaykh (may Allah have mercy on him) said: This is an error (wahm) by Sulayman bin Arqam, for Yahya bin Abi Kathir only narrated it from Muhammad bin al-Zubayr al-Hanzali, from his father, from Imran bin Husayn (may Allah be pleased with him), from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him); Ali bin al-Mubarak narrated it likewise from Yahya bin Abi Kathir.

Imran bin Husayn (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates likewise from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him).
Ibn al-Mubarak said about this hadith: "Abu Salamah narrated", which indicates that al-Zuhri did not hear it from Abu Salamah. Ahmad bin Muhammad said: This is confirmed by the hadith of Ayyub bin Sulayman bin Bilal. Ahmad said: The hadith is really the hadith of Ali bin al-Mubarak, from Yahya bin Abi Kathir, from Muhammad bin al-Zubayr, from his father, from Imran bin Husayn (may Allah be pleased with him), from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). Abu Dawud said: He meant that Sulayman bin Arqam erred in it, and al-Zuhri took it from him and narrated it mursal from Abu Salamah. Abu Dawud said: Baqiyyah narrated it from al-Awza'i, from Yahya, from Muhammad bin al-Zubayr, with the chain of Ali bin al-Mubarak, in the same way.

Hiql (may Allah have mercy on him) also mentioned it likewise.
This hadith is well known through Muhammad bin al-Zubayr al-Hanzali, and there is disagreement on him in its chain and its text.

This is munqati' (broken): al-Zubayr al-Hanzali did not hear from Imran.

Yahya bin Ma'in (may Allah have mercy on him) said: Muhammad bin al-Zubayr al-Hanzali was asked: "Did your father hear from Imran bin Husayn (may Allah be pleased with him)?" He said: "No."

Muhammad bin al-Zubayr al-Hanzali narrates from his father that a man told him that he asked Sayyiduna Imran bin Husayn (may Allah be pleased with him) about a man who swore that he would not pray in the mosque of his people. Sayyiduna Imran bin Husayn (may Allah be pleased with him) said: I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) saying: "There is no vow in disobedience to Allah; its expiation is the expiation of an oath."
Hadith Referenceالسنن الكبرى للبيهقي / كتاب الأيمان / 20070
Muhammad bin al-Zubayr (may Allah have mercy on him) narrates from a companion of Sayyiduna Imran bin Husayn (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Vows are of two kinds: 1. A vow that is in obedience to Allah must be fulfilled. 2. A vow that is in disobedience to Allah is for Satan; it is not right to fulfil it, and its expiation is the expiation of an oath."

Imran bin Husayn (may Allah be pleased with him) said that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "There is no vow in disobedience, and its expiation is the expiation of an oath."
(b) Sufyan narrates with his chain: "There is no vow in disobedience or in anger, and its expiation is like the expiation of an oath."
This too is munqati' (broken); no hearing of al-Hasan from Imran is established through a sound route.

Ali bin al-Madini (may Allah have mercy on him) said: "No hearing of al-Hasan from Imran bin Husayn (may Allah be pleased with him) is established through a sound route."

Al-Bukhari said: Muhammad bin al-Zubayr al-Hanzali is munkar al-hadith (his narrations are rejected), and there is concern about him (fihi nazar).
Al-Shaykh said: Others narrated it from al-Hasan as follows.
Hadith Referenceالسنن الكبرى للبيهقي / كتاب الأيمان / 20074
Al-Hasan (may Allah have mercy on him) narrates from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) that he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The expiation of a vow is the expiation of an oath."

Al-Hasan (may Allah have mercy on him) narrates from Hayyaj bin Imran al-Burjumi that a slave of his father ran away, and he swore that if he got hold of him he would certainly cut off his hand. When my father got hold of him, he sent me to Sayyiduna Imran bin Husayn (may Allah be pleased with him). I asked him, and he said: I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) during his sermon "urging charity and forbidding mutilation (muthlah)." He said: "Tell your father to expiate his oath and pardon the slave." Hayyaj said: My father sent me to Sayyiduna Samurah (may Allah be pleased with him), and he too said: I heard the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) during his sermon "urging charity and forbidding mutilation (muthlah)." He said: "Tell your father to expiate his oath and pardon his slave."
This chain is connected (mawsul), except that the command to expiate the oath is mawquf in it, stopping at Imran and Samurah. As for al-Hayyaj bin Imran, there is disagreement about his name: it is said to be thus, and it is also said to be Hayyan bin Imran al-Burjumi.

Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) said that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever makes a vow without naming it, its expiation is that of an oath; whoever makes a vow of disobedience, its expiation is also that of an oath; whoever makes a vow that he is unable to fulfil, its expiation is also that of an oath; and whoever makes a vow that he is able to fulfil, let him fulfil it."
Waki' bin al-Jarrah narrated it from Abdullah bin Sa'id as mawquf (stopping at) Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both), and it has also been narrated from Ibn Abbas through another, weak, route.
