Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) said: We set out with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) in the year of the Farewell Hajj and we made the talbiyah for Umrah. Then the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever has a sacrificial animal with him should make the talbiyah for both Hajj and Umrah, and he should not leave ihram until he leaves it from both of them."

(a) Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) said: We set out with the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) in the year of the Farewell Hajj, and I made the talbiyah for Umrah, and I had not brought a sacrificial animal. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever has a sacrificial animal with him should make the talbiyah for Hajj along with his Umrah, and then not leave ihram until he has finished both of them." She said: Then I began menstruating, and when the night of Arafah came, I said: O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)! I had made the talbiyah for Umrah, so what should I now do about my Hajj? He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Undo your hair, comb it, hold back from the Umrah and make the talbiyah for Hajj." When I had completed my Hajj, he ordered Abd al-Rahman bin Abi Bakr (may Allah be pleased with them both), and he had me perform Umrah from al-Tan'im in place of the Umrah from which I had been held back.
(b) This contains evidence that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) ordered those who had sacrificial animals to make the talbiyah for Hajj along with Umrah, and he ordered Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) to do the same even though she had no sacrificial animal, out of fear that her Hajj would be missed. Then he (peace and blessings be upon him) slaughtered cows on behalf of his wives. The narration of Abu al-Zubayr from Jabir establishes decisively that she was performing Qiran, and it has been mentioned before.

Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) said that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) slaughtered one cow on behalf of those of his wives who had performed Umrah.
Only al-Walid bin Muslim narrated it, and he did not mention in it that he heard it from al-Awza'i; Muhammad bin Isma'il al-Bukhari feared that he had taken it from Yusuf bin al-Safar. And Allah knows best.

Likewise (through another chain), and in it he said: during the Farewell Hajj.
If his saying 'al-Awza'i narrated to us' is preserved, the hadith becomes jayyid (good).

Nafi' (may Allah have mercy on him) said: Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) set out for Hajj at the time when al-Hajjaj had reached Makkah to fight Ibn al-Zubayr (may Allah be pleased with them both). He was told: There is going to be fighting between the people, and we fear that they will prevent you. He said: For you, in the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) there is an excellent example [Surah al-Ahzab: 21]; I will do just as the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) did. I call you to witness that I have made Umrah binding upon myself. Then he set out until, when he climbed onto al-Bayda', he said: The matter of Hajj and Umrah is one and the same; I call you to witness that I have made Umrah binding along with Hajj. He also bought a sacrificial animal at Qudayd, and went on until he reached Makkah. He performed the tawaf of the House and of Safa and Marwah and did nothing more: he did not sacrifice, nor shave his head, nor cut his hair, and he did not come out of any restriction that had become forbidden to him, until, when the Day of Sacrifice came, he sacrificed and shaved his head. Then he considered that he had completed the tawaf for Hajj and Umrah with his first tawaf. Then he said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) did the same.

Sayyiduna Subayy bin Ma'bad (may Allah have mercy on him) said: I was a Bedouin Christian man. When I became Muslim, I came to a man of my tribe called Hudhaym bin Thurmulah and said to him: I am eager for jihad, and Hajj and Umrah are also obligatory upon me, so why should I not combine them both? He said: Combine them both and offer whatever sacrificial animal is easily available to you. So I made the talbiyah for both Hajj and Umrah. When I reached (al-Udhayb), Salman bin Rabi'ah and Zayd bin Suhan (may Allah be pleased with them both) met me while I was making the talbiyah for both Hajj and Umrah, and one of them said to the other: "This man is even more ignorant than this camel of his." It was as though a mountain had fallen upon me, until I reached Sayyiduna Umar bin al-Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him) and said to him: O Commander of the Believers! I was a Bedouin Christian man, then I became Muslim, and I am eager for jihad, and I found Hajj and Umrah obligatory upon me. So I went to a man of my people and he told me: Combine them both and slaughter whatever sacrificial animal is easily available. And I have made the talbiyah for both of them together. Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "You have been guided to the Sunnah of your Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him)."
