Sayyiduna Abu Dharr (may Allah be pleased with him) said: I asked: O Messenger of Allah, which mosque was built first on the earth? He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Al-Masjid al-Haram." I said: Then which? He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Al-Masjid al-Aqsa." I asked: How long was there between them? He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Forty years. Wherever the time of prayer comes upon you, pray there, for that is a mosque."

Sayyiduna Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) said that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "I have been given five things that were not given to anyone before me: I have been helped by awe (cast into the enemy) from a month's journey away; the spoils of war have been made lawful for me, which were not lawful for anyone before me; the whole earth has been made a place of prostration (mosque) and a means of purification for me, so whenever any man of my Ummah finds that the time of prayer has come, let him pray right there; I have been granted intercession; and every prophet was sent specifically to his own people, but I have been sent to all people."

Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) said that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "I have been given preference over the prophets in six things: I have been given comprehensive words; I have been helped by awe; the spoils of war have been made lawful for me; the earth has been made a mosque and a means of purification for me; I have been sent to all people; and prophethood has been sealed through me."

Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) said that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "I have been given five things that no prophet before me was given. The earth has been made a mosque and a means of purification for me, whereas it was not permitted for any prophet to pray anywhere other than his own special place (mihrab). I have been given awe from a month's journey away; between me and the polytheists there is a month's journey, yet Allah casts awe into their hearts. The prophets were sent to their own particular people, but I have been sent to the jinn and mankind. The prophets would set aside a fifth of the spoils of war, and fire would come and consume it, but I have been commanded to distribute that fifth of the spoils among the poor of my Ummah. Every prophet was granted one accepted supplication, but I have deferred mine as intercession for my Ummah."

Sayyiduna Abu Umamah (may Allah be pleased with him) said that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "I have been given preference through four things: the earth has been made a mosque and a means of purification for me. If any man of my Ummah comes to pray and finds nothing to pray on, he will find the earth a mosque and a means of purification. I have been sent to all people. I have been helped by awe from a distance of two months' journey, and the spoils of war have been made lawful for me."
