It is narrated from Abu Salamah bin Abd al-Rahman: I visited Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) when he was ill and propped him up against my chest. Then I supplicated: O Allah, grant Abu Hurayrah recovery. He said: 'Allahumma la tarji'ha' "O Allah, do not return it (to me) (that is, accept my supplication and grant me death)." I said again: O Allah, grant Abu Hurayrah recovery. He said again: 'Allahumma la tarji'ha' "O Allah, do not turn it back." I said a third time: O Allah, grant Abu Hurayrah recovery. He said the same again: 'Allahumma la tarji'ha' "O Allah, do not return it." Then he said: O Abu Salamah, if you are able to die, then die. I said: O Abu Hurayrah, we love life. He said: By the One in whose Hand is the soul of Abu Hurayrah! A time will certainly come upon the scholars when death will be dearer to one of them than red gold, and one of you will come to the grave of his brother and say (because of the distressing conditions): Would that I were in his place.
This chain is sahih (authentic) on the condition of the two Shaykhs, but they did not record it.

It is narrated from Abu Ubaydah: I used to ask people about the hadith of Sayyiduna Adi bin Hatim (may Allah be pleased with him) while he was right beside me in Kufah. Then I went to him and said: A hadith has reached me on your authority; narrate it to me yourself. He said: When the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was sent, I detested him more than I had ever detested anything. So I went to the remotest land of the Arabs, but there too my aversion remained. Then I went to the land of the Romans, and there I felt an aversion even greater than, or more intense than, before. Then I said (to myself): I will certainly go to this man; if he is truthful, I will listen to him, and if he is a liar, he can do me no harm. So I came to him (peace and blessings be upon him) and asked him, and he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "You are asking about something that is not lawful for you in your religion." I felt as though he (peace and blessings be upon him) had expressed disapproval of something of mine. Then he (peace and blessings be upon him) said twice: "O Adi bin Hatim, embrace Islam and you will be safe." Adi says that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Perhaps what is preventing you from accepting Islam is that you see poverty and want among the people around me, and you see that people have united against us." Then he (peace and blessings be upon him) asked: "Have you seen al-Hirah?" I said: I have not seen it, but I know where it is. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Soon a woman in a howdah will travel alone from al-Hirah without any protector until she performs Tawaf of the House, and soon the treasures of Kisra bin Hurmuz will be opened to us." I asked (in amazement): Kisra bin Hurmuz?! He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Yes! Kisra bin Hurmuz. And the time is also near when a man will go out with his charity but will find no one to accept it." Adi says: I have seen the woman in the howdah travelling alone, and because of the truth of the words of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) I swear that the third thing too will certainly come to pass, for his (peace and blessings be upon him) word is the truth.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Hudhayfah bin al-Yaman (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Soon Allah Almighty will fill your hands with non-Arabs and will make them lions who will not flee (from the battlefield). Then they will strike your necks and consume your fay' (spoils)."
