أخبرني أبو النَّضر الفقيه ومحمد بن الحسن الشامي قالا: حدثنا الحسن بن حمّاد الكوفي، حدثنا عبد الله بن محمد العَدَوي قال: سمعتُ عمرَ بن عبد العزيز على المنبر يقول: حدثني عُبادة بن عبد الله بن عُبَادة، عن طلحة بن عُبيد الله قال: سمعتُ رسول الله ﷺ يقول: "ألا أيها الناسُ، لا يقبلُ اللهُ صلاةَ إِمَامٍ حَكَمَ بغيرِ ما أَنزل الله" (1) وذكر باقيَ الحديث (2).
هذا حديث صحيح الإسناد، ولم يُخرجاه.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Talhah bin Ubaydullah (may Allah be pleased with him) that I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "Listen, O people! Allah Almighty does not accept the prayer of an imam (ruler) who judged by other than what Allah has revealed." And (the narrator) mentioned the rest of the hadith.
This hadith is sahih al-isnad (authentic in its chain), but the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim) did not record it.

حدثنا أبو العباس محمد بن يعقوب، حدثنا الربيع بن سليمان، حدثنا عبد الله بن وهب، أخبرني مَخْرَمة بن بُكير، عن أبيه، عن بُسْر بن سعيد، عن أبي هريرة قال: قال رسول الله ﷺ: "ما مِن أحدٍ يُؤمَّر على عشرة فصاعدًا، لا يُقسِطُ فيهم، إلّا جاء يومَ القيامة في الأصفادِ والأغلال" (1).
هذا حديث صحيح الإسناد، ولم يُخرجاه، ولسنا بمعذُورِين في ترك أحاديث مَخْرَمة بن بُكير أصلًا (2).

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Anyone who is made a leader over ten or more people and does not act justly among them will come on the Day of Resurrection bound in fetters and shackles."

أخبرنا أحمد بن سلمان الفقيه ﵀ ببغداد، حدثنا أبو داود سليمان بن الأشعث وجعفر بن محمد بن شاكر، قالا: حدثنا عفّان، حدثنا حماد بن سَلَمة، عن عاصم، عن أبي وائل: أنَّ ناسًا سألوا أسامةَ بنَ زيد: أنْ كلِّمْ لنا هذا الرجلَ - يعني عثمان بن عفّان -! قال: قد كلَّمناه ما دون أن نفتحَ بابًا أن لا نكونَ أولَ من فتحه، ما أقول: أمراؤُكم خِياركم، بعد شيءٍ سمعتُه من رسول الله ﷺ؛ سمعت رسول الله ﷺ يقول: "يُؤتَى بالوالي الذي كان يُطاع في معصية الله ﷿، فيُؤْمَرُ به إلى النار، فيُقذَفُ فيها فتندَلِقُ به أقتابُه - يعني أمعاءَه فيستديرُ فيها كما يستديرُ الحِمارُ في الرَّحى، فيأتي عليه أهلُ طاعته من الناس فيقولون له أيْ فُلُ، أين ما كنتَ تأمرنا؟! فيقول: كنتُ آمرُكم بأمرٍ وأخالفُكم إلى غيرِه" (3).

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Usamah bin Zayd (may Allah be pleased with him) that some people said to him: Speak to this man (Uthman bin Affan, may Allah be pleased with him) on our behalf! He said: We have spoken to him, short of opening a door of which we would be the first to open, and I do not say about anyone, "Your leaders are the best of you," after something I heard from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "The governor (ruler) who used to be obeyed in disobedience to Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, will be brought, then it will be commanded that he be taken to the Fire, and he will be thrown into it, and his intestines will spill out, and he will go around in them just as a donkey goes around a millstone. Then those people who used to obey him will come to him and say to him: 'O so-and-so! Where is that (good) which you used to command us?!' He will say: 'I used to command you to one thing and myself do the opposite.'"
