The trustworthiness of the Quraysh

Ubayd bin Rifa'ah bin Rafi' al-Zuraqi narrates from his father, and he from his grandfather (Rifa'ah bin Rafi', may Allah be pleased with him), that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said to Sayyiduna Umar bin al-Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him): "O Umar, gather your people (Quraysh) for me." So he gathered them, then he came to him (peace and blessings be upon him) and said: O Messenger of Allah, I have gathered them. Shall they come in to you, or will you come out to them? He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Rather, I will come out to them." When the Muhajirun and the Ansar heard this, they said: Surely some revelation has come down concerning Quraysh. So the onlookers and listeners came to hear what would be said to them. Then he (peace and blessings be upon him) stood among them and asked: "Is there anyone among you other than yourselves?" They said: Yes, among us are our allies, our sisters' sons and our freed slaves (mawali). The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Our allies are from us, our sisters' sons are from us, and our mawali are from us." Then he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Listen! My friends among you are those who are God-fearing. If you are those, then well and good; otherwise, look to yourselves, and look well, lest people come (on the Day of Resurrection) with deeds while you come with burdens (of sin), and you are turned away from." Then he (peace and blessings be upon him) called out in a loud voice and said three times: "Indeed, Quraysh are a trustworthy people. Whoever seeks out their stumbles (or tries to harm them), Allah will throw him down on his nose."
This hadith has a sahih (authentic) chain, but the two Shaykhs did not record it.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that he said: We were in the courtyard of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) when a woman passed by. A man among the people said: This is the daughter of Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him). Abu Sufyan said: The likeness of Muhammad among Banu Hashim is that of a fragrant flower in the midst of a stench. The woman went and informed the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) of this. Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) came out, and anger was evident on his blessed face (peace and blessings be upon him). He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "What is the matter with these people whose words are reaching me? Indeed, Allah, Mighty and Majestic, created seven heavens and chose the highest of them, and settled in it whomever He willed of His creation. Then He created the creation and chose the children of Adam; from the children of Adam He chose the Arabs; from the Arabs He chose the tribe of Mudar; from Mudar He chose Quraysh; from Quraysh He chose Banu Hashim; and from Banu Hashim He chose me. So I am the best of the best. Therefore, whoever loves the Arabs loves them because of his love for me, and whoever hates the Arabs hates them because of his hatred for me."

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that he said: Once we were sitting in the courtyard of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). Then the narrator mentioned the whole hadith in the same way, in full.
It has also been said about this chain that it is narrated through Muhammad bin Dhakwan from Amr bin Dinar, and he from Abdullah bin Umar.
