Zaynab (may Allah be pleased with her) granting protection to her husband Abu al-As (may Allah be pleased with him)

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that Sayyidah Zaynab (may Allah be pleased with her), the daughter of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), granted protection to her husband Abu al-As bin al-Rabi' (when he was a polytheist and had fallen into the hands of the Muslims), and the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) upheld the protection she had given and declared it valid.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that when Abu al-As was taken prisoner, Sayyidah Zaynab (may Allah be pleased with her) said: "I have granted protection to Abu al-As." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whomever Zaynab has granted protection, we too have granted him protection; for even the lowest individual among the Muslims can grant protection on behalf of them all."

It is narrated from the Mother of the Believers, Sayyidah Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her), that Abu al-As bin al-Rabi' sent word to Sayyidah Zaynab (may Allah be pleased with her), the daughter of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), asking her to obtain a guarantee of safety (aman) for him from her father. So she went out and, looking out from the door of her chamber, called out while the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was leading the morning prayer. She said: "O people! I am Zaynab, the daughter of the Messenger of Allah, and I have granted protection to Abu al-As." When the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) finished the prayer, he said: "O people! I had no knowledge of this until you heard it. Indeed, even the lowest individual among the Muslims can grant protection on behalf of them all."

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said: I saw on Sayyidah Zaynab (may Allah be pleased with her), the daughter of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), a shirt of striped silk.
This hadith is sahih (authentic) on the condition of the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim).

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said: Sayyidah Zaynab (may Allah be pleased with her), the daughter of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), passed away, and he went out with her funeral and we went out with him. We saw him deeply grieved and sorrowful. Then, when the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) went down into her grave and came out, his blessed face was shining (its colour had changed). We asked him about this, and he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "She was a woman who was often ill, so I remembered the severity of death and the squeeze (constriction) of the grave, and I prayed to Allah to lighten it for her."

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) returned his daughter Sayyidah Zaynab (may Allah be pleased with her) to her husband Abu al-As after two years on the basis of her first marriage, and did not fix any new dowry (mahr).
