Virtues of Yazid bin Abdullah Abu al-Sa'ib (may Allah be pleased with him)

It is narrated from Mus'ab bin Abdullah al-Zubayri that Yazid bin Abdullah bin Sa'd bin al-Aswad bin Thumamah bin Yaqzan bin al-Harith bin Amr bin Mu'awiyah bin al-Harith was an ally of Banu Mu'ayqib, and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) had appointed him governor of al-Yamamah.

Abdullah bin al-Sa'ib bin Yazid narrates from his father (Sayyiduna al-Sa'ib (may Allah be pleased with him)), and he from his grandfather, Sayyiduna Yazid (bin Sa'id) (may Allah be pleased with him), that he heard the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) saying: "None of you should take his brother's belongings (without permission), whether in jest or in earnest, and if any of you finds even his companion's staff, let him return it to him." And his son al-Sa'ib bin Yazid lived in the time of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and narrated a hadith from him (peace and blessings be upon him).

It is narrated from Sayyiduna al-Sa'ib bin Yazid (may Allah be pleased with him); he said: I was taken on the Farewell Pilgrimage with the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) when I was seven years old.

It is narrated from Muhammad bin Abdullah bin Numayr that Sayyiduna al-Sa'ib bin Yazid (may Allah be pleased with him) died in the year 91 AH.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna al-Sa'ib bin Yazid (may Allah be pleased with him); he said: I saw the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) have Abdullah bin Khatal brought out from behind the coverings of the Ka'bah and order him to be killed; then he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "After this (the day of the Conquest of Makkah), no one from Quraysh shall be killed as a captive."
