Allah took him as a prophet and took him as a martyr

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said: That I swear nine times that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) was martyred (by the effect of poison) is dearer to me than swearing once that he was not martyred. That is because Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, granted him the rank of martyrdom along with the office of prophethood.
This hadith is sahih (authentic) on the condition of the two Shaykhs, but they did not record it.

Imam al-Sha'bi (may Allah have mercy on him) says: By Allah! The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) was poisoned, Sayyiduna Abu Bakr al-Siddiq (may Allah be pleased with him) was poisoned, Sayyiduna Umar bin al-Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him) was martyred while held defenceless (unawares), Sayyiduna Uthman bin Affan (may Allah be pleased with him) was martyred unjustly, Sayyiduna Ali bin Abi Talib (may Allah be pleased with him) was martyred, Sayyiduna al-Hasan bin Ali (may Allah be pleased with them both) was poisoned, and Sayyiduna al-Husayn bin Ali (may Allah be pleased with them both) was martyred unjustly. So after these (great personalities), what can we now hope for (from the world)?

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) that Sayyidah Fatimah (may Allah be pleased with her), weeping over the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) (at his passing), would say: "O my father, how near he has drawn to his Lord! O my father, to Jibril (peace be upon him) I announce his death! O my father, the Garden of Firdaws is now his abode!"
This hadith is sahih (authentic) on the condition of the two Shaykhs, but they did not record it.
