Mention of his illness and death (peace and blessings be upon him)

It is narrated from Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) that the illness in which the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) passed away began in the house of Sayyidah Maymunah (may Allah be pleased with her). Then he came out with a bandage tied around his blessed head and came (to my house) supported by two men, his feet dragging along the ground. On his right was Sayyiduna al-Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) and on his left was another man. Ubaydullah says: Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) told me that the man on the left was Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him).
This hadith has an authentic chain, but the two Shaykhs did not record it. I have already mentioned earlier the disagreement of the Companions concerning the age of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) on the day of his passing.

Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) says: I saw the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) at the time of his passing, and he had a bowl with water in it. He would put his hand into the bowl, then wipe his blessed face with it, and say: 'Allahumma a'inni 'ala sakrat al-mawt' (O Allah, help me through the agonies of death).
This hadith has an authentic chain, but the two Shaykhs did not record it.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the last words of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) were: 'Jalalu rabbi al-rafi', faqad ballaghtu' (Majesty belongs to my Lord, the Most High; I have conveyed (the message)). Then his (peace and blessings be upon him) soul was taken.
This hadith has an authentic chain, but the narrator al-Farisi in this chain made an error in narrating it from Muhammad bin Abd al-A'la.
