It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ali bin Abi Talib (may Allah be pleased with him) that there is a verse in the Book of Allah which no one besides me has (fully) acted upon, and no one will act upon it after me, and that is the verse of private consultation (najwa): "O you who have believed, when you consult the Messenger privately, present before your private consultation a charity" [Surah al-Mujadilah: 12]. He said: I had a dinar which I sold for ten dirhams, and whenever I wished to speak privately with the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), I would give a dirham in charity before it. Then this ruling was abrogated and no one acted upon it, and this verse was revealed: "Do you fear to present charities before your private consultation?" [Surah al-Mujadilah: 13].
This hadith is sahih (authentic) on the condition of the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim), but they did not record it.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) was sitting in the shade of a chamber, and the shade was about to shrink, when the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "A man will soon come to you who will look at you with the eye of a devil; when he comes, do not speak to him." Shortly afterwards a blue-eyed, squint-eyed man appeared. When the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) saw him, he called him and said: "Why do you and your companions revile me?" He said: Leave me, and I will bring them to you right away. He went and brought them, and they came and swore that they had neither said nor done any such thing, until he (peace and blessings be upon him) let it pass. Then Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, revealed this verse: "On the Day when Allah will resurrect them all, they will swear to Him as they swear to you, and they think that they are upon something. Behold, it is they who are the liars." [Al-Mujadilah: 18]
This hadith is sahih (authentic) on the condition of Imam Muslim, but the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim) did not record it.
