أخبرنا أبو جعفر محمد بن علي الشَّيباني بالكوفة، حدثنا أحمد بن حازم الغِفاري، حدثنا قَبِيصة بن عُقْبة، أخبرنا سفيان، عن الأعمش، عن أبي الضُّحَى، عن مسروق، عن عبد الله بن مسعود في قوله ﷿: ﴿وَالصَّافَّاتِ صَفًّا﴾، قال: الملائكة، ﴿فَالزَّاجِرَاتِ زَجْرًا﴾، قال: الملائكةُ، ﴿فَالتَّالِيَاتِ ذِكْرًا﴾، قال: الملائكةُ (2).
هذا حديث صحيح على شرط الشيخين، ولم يُخرجاه.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) concerning the saying of Allah Almighty "By those ranged in rows", that he said: What is meant by it is "the angels"; about "And those who drive with a driving" he said: What is meant by it is "the angels"; and about "And those who recite the Reminder" he said: What is meant by it is "the angels".
This hadith is sahih (authentic) on the condition of the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim), but they did not record it.

أخبرنا أبو زكريا العَنبَري، حدثنا محمد بن عبد السلام، حدثنا إسحاق بن إبراهيم، أخبرنا جَرير، عن الأعمش، عن أبي وائل شَقِيق بن سَلَمة قال: قرأَها عبدُ الله: (بل عَجِبتُ ويَسخَرونَ) [الصافات: 12] قال شُرَيح: إنَّ الله لا يَعجَبُ من شيءٍ، إنما يَعجَبُ من لا يَعلَم. قال الأعمش: فذكرتُ لإبراهيم، فقال: إِنَّ شُريحًا كان يُعجِبه رأيُه، إنَّ عبد الله كان أعلمَ من شُريح، وكان عبد الله يقرؤُها: (بل عَجِبتُ) (1).
هذا حديث صحيح على شرط الشيخين، ولم يُخرجاه.

It is narrated from Abu Wa'il Shaqiq bin Salamah that Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) recited this verse thus: "Bal 'ajibtu wa yaskharun" (Rather, I wondered, while they mock) [Surah al-Saffat: 12]. Upon this, Qadi Shurayh said: Allah Almighty does not wonder at anything; only one who does not know wonders. Imam al-A'mash said: I mentioned this to Ibrahim (al-Nakha'i), and he said: Shurayh was very pleased with his own opinion. Certainly Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) was more learned than Shurayh, and he used to recite it as "Bal 'ajibtu" (Rather, I wondered).
This hadith is sahih (authentic) on the condition of the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim), but they did not record it.

أخبرنا أبو عبد الله محمد بن عبد الله الصَّفّار، حدثنا أحمد بن مِهْران، حدثنا عُبيد الله بن موسى، أخبرنا إسرائيل، حدثنا سِمَاك بن حَرْب، عن النُّعمان بن بَشِير، عن عمر بن الخطّاب في قوله: ﴿احْشُرُوا الَّذِينَ ظَلَمُوا وَأَزْوَاجَهُمْ﴾ [الصافات: 22]، قال: أمثالَهم الذين هم مِثْلُهم (2).
هذا حديث صحيح على شرط مسلم، ولم يُخرجاه.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Umar bin al-Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him) concerning the saying of Allah Almighty: "Gather those who did wrong and their companions" [Surah al-Saffat: 22], that he said: What is meant by it is their equals and those like them.
This hadith is sahih (authentic) on the condition of Imam Muslim, but the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim) did not record it.
