It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) that on the night the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) was taken on the Night Journey (Mi'raj), he (peace and blessings be upon him) met Sayyiduna Ibrahim, Sayyiduna Musa and Sayyiduna Isa (peace be upon them). They began discussing the Hour among themselves. First they asked Sayyiduna Ibrahim (peace be upon him), but he had no knowledge of it (of its time). Then Sayyiduna Musa (peace be upon him) was asked, and he too had no knowledge of it. Then the discussion turned to Sayyiduna Isa (peace be upon him), and he said: "Allah Almighty has made a covenant with me regarding all matters other than the actual time of the Hour's occurrence (that is, no one but Allah knows its time)." Then he mentioned the emergence of the Dajjal and said: "I will descend and kill him. Then, when people return to their lands, they will be confronted by Gog and Magog (Ya'juj and Ma'juj), who 'will rush down from every elevation.' They will not pass by any water without drinking it, nor by anything without destroying it. Then the people will cry out humbly to Allah, and Allah Almighty will cause Gog and Magog to die, until the earth, polluted by their stench, will cry out to Allah. Then the people will turn to me, and I will supplicate, and Allah Almighty will send down rain from the sky, which will carry their bodies and throw them into the sea. Then the mountains will be crushed to dust, and the earth will be spread out and extended like adim (tanned, cleaned leather). And Allah has promised me that when these things happen, the Hour will be for people like a pregnant woman whose term is complete, whose family does not know when she will suddenly give birth, by night or by day." Sayyiduna Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: I found the confirmation of this in the Book of Allah: "Until, when Gog and Magog are let loose, and they rush down from every elevation, and the true promise draws near" [Surah al-Anbiya: 96, 97]. He said: On the Day of Resurrection, every place from which people come forth will be called hadab (an elevation).
The chain of narration of this hadith is sahih (authentic), but the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim) did not record it. As for Mu'thir, he is not an unknown narrator; he narrated hadith from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud and Sayyiduna al-Bara' bin Azib (may Allah be pleased with them both), and a large group of the Tabi'un narrated from him.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that he said: When this verse was revealed: "Indeed, you and what you worship besides Allah are the fuel of Hell; you will all enter it" [Surah al-Anbiya: 98], the polytheists said (by way of objection): The angels, Isa and Uzayr (peace be upon them) are also worshipped besides Allah (so will they too go to Hell?). Upon this, this verse was revealed: "Had these (objects of worship) truly been gods, they would not have entered it (Hell)" [Surah al-Anbiya: 99], meaning those false deities whose worship they were pleased with. Then Allah Almighty revealed (concerning the sacred personalities) this verse: "Indeed, those for whom the best (reward) has already gone forth from Us, they will be kept far from it (Hell)" [Surah al-Anbiya: 101], and what is meant by this is Sayyiduna Isa, Sayyiduna Uzayr (peace be upon them) and the angels.
The chain of narration of this hadith is sahih (authentic), but the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim) did not record it.
