حدثنا أبو العبَّاس قاسم بن القاسم السَّيّاري، حدثنا محمد بن موسى بن حاتم، حدثنا علي بن الحسن بن شَقِيق، حدثنا الحسين بن واقد، عن يزيد النَّحْوي، عن عِكْرمة عن ابن عبَّاس قال: لما نزلت ﴿إِنَّكُمْ وَمَا تَعْبُدُونَ مِنْ دُونِ اللَّهِ حَصَبُ جَهَنَّمَ أَنْتُمْ لَهَا وَارِدُونَ﴾ [الأنبياء: 98]، فقال المشركون: الملائكةُ وعيسى وعُزَيرٌ يُعبَدون من دون الله، فقال: ﴿لَوْ كَانَ هَؤُلَاءِ﴾ الذين يُعبَدون ﴿آلِهَةً مَا وَرَدُوهَا﴾ [الأنبياء: 99]، قال: فنزلت: ﴿إِنَّ الَّذِينَ سَبَقَتْ لَهُمْ مِنَّا الْحُسْنَى أُولَئِكَ عَنْهَا مُبْعَدُونَ﴾ [الأنبياء: 101] عيسى وعُزَيرٌ والملائكةُ (2). صحيح الإسناد، ولم يُخرجاه. It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that he said: When this verse was revealed: "Indeed, you and what you worship besides Allah are the fuel of Hell; you will all enter it" [Surah al-Anbiya: 98], the polytheists said (by way of objection): The angels, Isa and Uzayr (peace be upon them) are also worshipped besides Allah (so will they too go to Hell?). Upon this, this verse was revealed: "Had these (objects of worship) truly been gods, they would not have entered it (Hell)" [Surah al-Anbiya: 99], meaning those false deities whose worship they were pleased with. Then Allah Almighty revealed (concerning the sacred personalities) this verse: "Indeed, those for whom the best (reward) has already gone forth from Us, they will be kept far from it (Hell)" [Surah al-Anbiya: 101], and what is meant by this is Sayyiduna Isa, Sayyiduna Uzayr (peace be upon them) and the angels.
The chain of narration of this hadith is sahih (authentic), but the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim) did not record it.

(2) إسناده حسن من أجل محمد بن موسى بن حاتم. يزيد النحوي: هو يزيد بن أبي سعيد.
Grading: (2) Its chain is "hasan" because of Muhammad bin Musa bin Hatim. Yazid al-Nahwi is Yazid bin Abi Sa'id.
وأخرجه بنحوه الطحاوي في "مشكل الآثار" (988)، وابن مردويه في "تفسيره" كما في "تفسير ابن كثير" 5/ 374 - 375 من طريق الحكم بن أبان، عن عكرمة، عن ابن عبَّاس.
Reference / Source: Al-Tahawi in "Mushkil al-Athar" (988), and Ibn Mardawayh in his "Tafsir" (as in "Tafsir Ibn Kathir": 5/ 374-375), recorded something similar via al-Hakam bin Aban, from 'Ikrimah, from Ibn 'Abbas.
