It is narrated from Sayyidah Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her) that whenever the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) left his house, he would make this supplication: 'Bismillah, rabbi a'udhu bika an azilla aw adilla, aw azlima aw uzlama, aw ajhala aw yujhala 'alayya' (In the name of Allah (I go out). O my Lord, I seek refuge in You from slipping or going astray, from wronging (anyone) or being wronged, and from behaving foolishly or being treated foolishly).
This hadith is sahih (authentic) on the condition of the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim), but they did not record it. If anyone imagines that Imam al-Sha'bi did not hear from Sayyidah Umm Salamah, that is not correct, for he visited both Sayyidah Aishah and Sayyidah Umm Salamah and narrated abundantly from both of them.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) that whenever the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) went out of his house, he would say: 'Bismillah, la hawla wa la quwwata illa billah, at-tuklanu 'alallah' (In the name of Allah; the ability to avoid sin and the strength to do good come only from Allah, and upon Allah alone is my reliance).
This hadith is sahih (authentic) on the condition of Imam Muslim, but the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim) did not record it.
