It is narrated from Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said: We were with the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) in a circle, and a man was standing and praying. When he had bowed and prostrated, completed the tashahhud and supplicated, he said in his supplication: 'Allahumma inni as'aluka bi-anna lakal-hamd, la ilaha illa ant, badi'us-samawati wal-ard, ya Dhal-Jalali wal-Ikram, ya Hayyu ya Qayyum' (O Allah, I ask You by virtue of the fact that all praise is Yours; there is no god but You, the Originator of the heavens and the earth without any precedent; O Possessor of Majesty and Bounty and Honour! O Ever-Living, O Sustainer of all!). Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "He has supplicated by that Greatest Name of Allah by which, when He is called upon, He answers, and when something is asked of Him, He gives."
This hadith is sahih on the condition of Imam Muslim, but the two Shaykhs did not record it.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) heard a man saying: 'Allahumma inni as'aluka bi-anna lakal-hamd, la ilaha illa ant, al-Mannan, badi'us-samawati wal-ard, Dhul-Jalali wal-Ikram, as'alukal-jannah, wa a'udhu bika minan-nar' (O Allah, I ask You by virtue of the fact that all praise is Yours; there is no god but You; You are the Most Bountiful and the Creator of the heavens and the earth; O Possessor of Majesty and Honour! I ask You for Paradise and I seek refuge in You from the Fire of Hell). Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "He very nearly supplicated to Allah by that Name of His by which, when He is called upon, He answers, and when He is asked, He gives."
