Abdullah bin Buraydah al-Aslami narrates from his father that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) heard a man saying: 'Allahumma inni as'aluka bi-annaka antallahu la ilaha illa ant, al-Ahadus-Samad, alladhi lam yalid wa lam yulad, wa lam yakun lahu kufuwan ahad' (O Allah, I ask You, for indeed You are Allah; there is no god but You, the One, the Self-Sufficient, who has no child, nor is He the child of anyone, and there is none equal to Him). Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "You have certainly asked Allah by His Greatest Name, by which, when He is asked, He gives, and when He is called upon, He answers."
This hadith is sahih (authentic) on the condition of the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim), but they did not record it.

Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Adil Murshid et al.
Grading: Its chain is sahih. Reference / Source: It was narrated by Imam Ahmad 38/ (23041) and Ibn Majah (3857) via Waki' with this same chain. Reference / Source: It was narrated by Imam Ahmad, Abu Dawud, al-Nasa'i and Ibn Hibban via the routes of Yahya bin Sa'id al-Qattan and Zayd bin al-Hubab; all of them narrate it from Malik bin Mighwal. A story is also mentioned in it. Details of the narration: Zayd bin al-Hubab mentioned, as recorded by al-Tirmidhi and al-Nasa'i, that he also narrated it from Malik bin Mighwal through Zuhayr bin Mu'awiyah and through Sufyan al-Thawri. Variation in the chain: This narration will come later via Sharik al-Qadi, and Sharik was inconsistent (idtirab) in it. Note / Clarification: This hadith has already passed at (999) through Mihjan bin al-Adra', containing the words "O Allah, the One, the Self-Sufficient". Abu Hatim judged the narration of Abd al-Warith, which makes it the hadith of Mihjan, to be the more likely one; but we have clarified in our commentary on Abu Dawud that the two narrations may be separate incidents, and that Ibn Buraydah may have heard both.
