It is narrated from Sayyiduna Urwah bin Mudarris (may Allah be pleased with him) that: I came to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) at Muzdalifah and said: Has my Hajj been accomplished? He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever prays this (Fajr) prayer with us at this place, then stays here with us until the imam departs, having come to Arafat before that by night or by day, his Hajj is complete and he has fulfilled his rites."

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Urwah bin Mudarris al-Ta'i (may Allah be pleased with him) that: I came to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) while he was standing at Muzdalifah, and I said: O Messenger of Allah, I have come from the two mountains of Tayyi'. I have exhausted my mount and put myself to hardship. By Allah, there was no hillock I passed by without standing upon it. So has my Hajj been accomplished? The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever catches this prayer with us, having reached Arafat before that by night or by day, has fulfilled his rites and his Hajj is complete."
This hadith is sahih (authentic) on the condition of all the imams of hadith, and it is one of the important principles of Islam. Imam Bukhari and Imam Muslim (may Allah have mercy on them both) refrained from recording it on the basis of their principle that no one narrated from Urwah bin Mudarris except Amir al-Sha'bi, whereas we have found a narration of Urwah bin al-Zubayr bin al-Awwam, who narrated hadith from him:

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Urwah bin Mudarris al-Ta'i (may Allah be pleased with him) that: I came to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) at the place of standing (Muzdalifah) and said: O Messenger of Allah, I have come from the two mountains of Tayyi'. I have wearied my mount and wearied myself. By Allah, there is not one of these hill paths left on which I have not stood. So he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever catches this prayer with us, meaning the morning prayer, having reached Arafah before that by night or by day, his Hajj is complete and he has fulfilled his rites."
In narrating this Sunnah, Abd al-Rahman bin Ya'mar al-Du'ali, from among the Companions, has also corroborated Urwah bin Mudarris.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abd al-Rahman bin Ya'mar (may Allah be pleased with him) that: I came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) at Arafah. Some people from Najd also came to him (peace and blessings be upon him) and asked him, so he (peace and blessings be upon him) ordered a caller, who announced: "Hajj is (the standing at) Arafah; Hajj is Arafah itself. Whoever arrives on the night of Muzdalifah before the break of dawn has caught the Hajj. The days of Mina are three: 'Then whoever hastens (to leave) in two days, there is no sin upon him, and whoever delays, there is no sin upon him either' [Al-Baqarah: 203]." He (peace and blessings be upon him) had a man ride behind him on his mount, who made this same call.
