Sayyiduna Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with them both) states that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "There is no zakah on silver until it reaches two hundred dirhams."
This hadith is sahih (authentic) on the condition of Imam Muslim, but the two Shaykhs did not record it. A supporting narration (shahid) for it, with further explanation, is the hadith of Asim bin Damrah:

Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) that he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Nothing is due on one hundred and ninety dirhams, but when the amount reaches two hundred dirhams, five dirhams of zakah are due on it."

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Wa'il bin Hujr (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) sent (a zakah collector) to a man, and the man sent a thin, weak young camel. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The zakah collector of Allah and of His Messenger came to him, and he sent a weak young camel! O Allah, do not bless him in it or in his camels." When this reached the man, he sent a very beautiful and excellent she-camel. Then the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The words of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) reached so-and-so, and he has sent an excellent she-camel. O Allah, bless him in it and in his camels."
This hadith is sahih (authentic) on the condition of Imam Muslim, but the two Shaykhs did not record it.

Hadith Takhrij «
Harithah bin Mudarrib narrates that some people from Syria came to Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) and said: "We have acquired wealth in the form of horses and slaves; we would like to pay zakah (charity) on them too, so that it becomes a means of purification for us." Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "How can I do something that my two companions before me (the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him)) did not do?" Then he consulted Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) among a group of the Companions of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), and Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "It is a good deed, provided that it is not made into a binding jizyah that is collected from them permanently."
This hadith has a sahih (authentic) chain, although the two Shaykhs did not narrate from Harithah; I have recorded it here to mention the newly fixed charities that came into practice later.
