Book of Voluntary Prayers
مَنْ حَافَظَ عَلَى أَرْبَعِ رَكْعَاتٍ قَبْلَ الظُّهْرِ وَأَرْبَعٍ بَعْدَهَا حَرَّمَهُ اللَّهُ عَلَى النَّارِ

فأخبرَناه أبو بكر أحمد بن سلمان الفقيه، حدثنا الحسن بن مُكْرَم، حدثنا يزيد بن هارون، أخبرنا داود بن أبي هند. وأخبرنا أبو بكر محمد بن عبد الله الشافعي، حدثنا معاذ بن المثنَّى، حدثنا مسدَّد، حدثنا بِشْر بن المفضَّل، حدثنا داود بن أبي هند، عن النعمان بن سالم، عن عَنْبَسة بن أبي سفيان، عن أُمِّ حَبِيبة بنت أبي سفيان قالت: قال رسول الله ﷺ: "من صلَّى ثِنتي عشرةَ سجدةً تطوُّعًا، بنى الله له بيتًا في الجنة" (1). وأما حديث مكحول:
The Mother of the Believers, Sayyidah Umm Habibah (may Allah be pleased with her), narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever prays twelve voluntary rak'ahs, Allah will build for him a house in Paradise."
فحدَّثناه أبو العباس محمد بن يعقوب، حدثنا محمد بن إسحاق الصَّغاني، حدثنا عبد الله بن يوسف التِّنِّيسي، حدثنا الهيثم بن حُميد، حدثنا النعمان بن المنذر، عن مكحول، عن عَنْبَسة بن أبي سفيان، عن أُم حَبِيبة أنها أخبرته، أنَّ رسول الله ﷺ قال: "من حافَظَ على أربع رَكَعَاتٍ قبل الظُّهر وأربعٍ بعدها، حرَّمه الله على النار" (1).
It is narrated from the Mother of the Believers, Sayyidah Umm Habibah (may Allah be pleased with her), that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever is regular in praying four rak'ahs before Zuhr and four after it, Allah will make him forbidden to the Fire."
أخبرنا أبو بكر بن إسحاق، أخبرنا أبو المثنَّى العَنْبري، حدثنا مُسدَّد. وأخبرنا أحمد بن جعفر القَطِيعي، حدثنا عبد الله بن أحمد بن حنبل، حدثني أبي، قالا: حدثنا إسماعيل - وهو ابنُ عُليَّة - عن عُيينةَ بن عبد الرحمن، عن أبيه قال: قال بُرَيدة: خرجتُ ذاتَ يوم أمشي في حاجة، فإذا أنا برسول الله ﷺ يمشي فظَننتُه يريد حاجةً، فجعلتُ أكُفُّ عنه، فلم أزل أفعلُ ذلك حتى رآني، فأشار إليَّ فأتيتُه، فأخذ بيدِي، فانطلقنا نمشي جميعًا، فإذا أنا برجل بين أيدينا يصلي يُكثِر الركوعَ والسجود، فقال رسول الله ﷺ: "أتُرى هذا يُرائي؟ " فقلت: الله ورسوله أعلم، قال: فأرسلَ يدَه وطبَّق بين يديه ثلاث مِرار، ويرفع يديه ويصوِّبها ويقول: "عليكم هَدْيًا قاصدًا، عليكم هَدْيًا قاصدًا، عليكم هَدْيًا قاصدًا، فإنه مَن يُشادَّ هذا الدينَ يَغلِبْه" (1).

Sayyiduna Buraydah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: One day I went out on some errand, and suddenly I saw the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) walking along. I thought that he (peace and blessings be upon him) had some errand, so I held back. I kept doing so until he (peace and blessings be upon him) saw me and beckoned to me. I came to him, and he (peace and blessings be upon him) took my hand, and we began walking together. Suddenly there was a man in front of us who was praying and performing many bowings and prostrations. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Do you think this man is showing off?" I said: Allah and His Messenger know best. The narrator says: Then he (peace and blessings be upon him) let go of my hand and put his palms together three times, and raising and lowering his hands he said: "Adopt the path of moderation, adopt the path of moderation, adopt the path of moderation, for whoever is excessively severe in this religion, it will overpower him."

أخبرنا أبو محمد عبد الله بن إسحاق العدلُ ببغداد، حدثنا يحيى بن جعفر بن الزِّبْرِقان، حدثنا زيد بن حُباب، حدثنا إسرائيل بن يونس، عن مَيسرة بن حَبِيب، عن المِنْهال بن عمرو، عن زِرٍّ، عن حُذيفةَ: أنه صلَّى مع النبي ﷺ المغربَ، ثم صلَّى حتى صلَّى العشاء (2).

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Hudhayfah (may Allah be pleased with him) that he prayed Maghrib with the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), then he kept praying voluntary prayer continuously until the time of Isha came and he prayed Isha.
This hadith is sahih (authentic) on the condition of the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim), but they did not record it.
