حدثنا أبو بكر بن إسحاق الفقيه، أخبرنا محمد بن عبد الله الحضرمي، حدثنا هارون بن إسحاق الهَمْداني، حدثنا محمد بن فُضَيل، عن حُصَين، عن سالم بن أبي الجَعْد، عن جابر بن عبد الله قال: قال رسول الله ﷺ: "يُجزئُ من الوضوء المُدُّ، ومن الجَنابةِ الصاعُ". فقال له رجل: لا يَكْفينا ذلك يا جابر، فقال: قد كَفَى مَن هو خيرٌ منك وأكثرُ شَعرًا (1).
هذا حديث صحيح على شرط الشيخين، ولم يُخرجاه بهذا اللفظ.

Sayyiduna Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "One mudd (approximately half a kilo of water) suffices for ablution, and one sa' (approximately two and a half kilos of water) suffices for the ritual bath (ghusl) of janabah." A man said to him: This (amount) is not enough for us, O Jabir! He replied: "It was enough for one who was better than you (that is, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)) and had more hair than you."
This hadith is sahih (authentic) on the condition of Imam Bukhari and Imam Muslim, but they did not record it with this wording.

حدثنا أبو علي الحسين بن علي الحافظ، حدثنا إبراهيم بن يوسف الهِسِنْجاني، حدثنا أبو كُرَيب، حدثنا يحيى بن أبي زائدة، عن شُعْبة، عن حبيب بن زيد، عن عبَّاد بن تميم، عن عبد الله بن زيد: أنَّ النبي ﷺ أُتِيَ بثُلُثي مُدٍّ، فتوضَّأَ فجعل يَدلُك ذراعَيهِ (2).
هذا حديث صحيح على شرط مسلم، فقد احتَجَّ بحبيب بن زيد (3)، ولم يُخرجاه.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Zayd (may Allah be pleased with him) that two-thirds of a mudd of water was brought to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). He (peace and blessings be upon him) performed ablution with it and began rubbing his forearms.
This hadith is sahih (authentic) on the condition of Imam Muslim, but the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim) did not record it.
