حدثنا أبو علي الحسين بن علي الحافظ، حدثنا إبراهيم بن يوسف الهِسِنْجاني، حدثنا أبو كُرَيب، حدثنا يحيى بن أبي زائدة، عن شُعْبة، عن حبيب بن زيد، عن عبَّاد بن تميم، عن عبد الله بن زيد: أنَّ النبي ﷺ أُتِيَ بثُلُثي مُدٍّ، فتوضَّأَ فجعل يَدلُك ذراعَيهِ (2).
هذا حديث صحيح على شرط مسلم، فقد احتَجَّ بحبيب بن زيد (3)، ولم يُخرجاه.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Zayd (may Allah be pleased with him) that two-thirds of a mudd of water was brought to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). He (peace and blessings be upon him) performed ablution with it and began rubbing his forearms.
This hadith is sahih (authentic) on the condition of Imam Muslim, but the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim) did not record it.

(2) إسناده صحيح. أبو كريب: هو محمد بن العلاء الهمداني.
Grading: Its chain is sahih.
Technical note / Defect ('illah): Abu Kurayb refers to "Muhammad bin al-'Ala' al-Hamdani".
وأخرجه ابن حبان (1083) عن أحمد بن يحيى بن زهير، عن أبي كريب، بهذا الإسناد. وقد سلف برقم (515).
Reference / Source: Imam Ibn Hibban narrated it (1083) through Ahmad bin Yahya bin Zuhayr, from Abu Kurayb (Muhammad bin al-'Ala' al-Hamdani), with this same chain.
Note / Clarification: This narration has already passed at no. (515).
(3) هذا ذهولٌ من المصنف ﵀، فإنَّ حبيبًا هذا لم يرو له مسلم في "صحيحه" شيئًا.
Technical note / Defect ('illah): This is an oversight (dhuhul) by the author (Imam al-Hakim, may Allah have mercy on him), because Imam Muslim did not take any narration from this narrator named Habib (al-Mu'allim) in his "Sahih".
