Musnad of Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him)
Hadith 7479
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ ، أَخْبَرَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ ، عَنْ زِيَادٍ الْمَخْزُومِيِّ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " لَا يَدْخُلُ أَحَدُكُمْ الْجَنَّةَ بِعَمَلِهِ " ، قَالُوا : وَلَا أَنْتَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ؟ قَالَ : " وَلَا أَنَا ، إِلَّا أَنْ يَتَغَمَّدَنِي اللَّهُ مِنْهُ بِرَحْمَةٍ ، وَفَضْلٍ " وَوَضَعَ يَدَهُ عَلَى رَأْسِهِ .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: None of you will enter Paradise because of his deeds. The companions (may Allah be pleased with them) asked: O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), not even you? He said: Not even me, unless my Lord covers me with His forgiveness and mercy. And the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) placed his hand on his head.
Hadith 7480
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ ، أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَمْرٍو ، عَنْ صَفْوَانَ بْنِ أَبِي يَزِيدَ ، عَنْ حُصَيْنِ بْنِ اللَّجْلَاجِ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " لَا يَجْتَمِعُ غُبَارٌ فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ ، وَدُخَانُ جَهَنَّمَ فِي مُنْخُرَيْ رَجُلٍ مُسْلِمٍ ، وَلَا يَجْتَمِعُ شُحٌّ ، وَإِيمَانٌ فِي قَلْبِ رَجُلٍ مُسْلِمٍ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: The dust from striving in the path of Allah and the smoke of Hell cannot be combined in the nostrils of a Muslim, and likewise, faith and miserliness cannot be combined in the heart of a Muslim.
Hadith 7481
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ ، أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَمْرٍو ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ سَلْمَانَ أَبَا عَبْدِ اللَّهِ الْأَغَرَّ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " صَلَاةٌ فِي مَسْجِدِي هَذَا خَيْرٌ مِنْ أَلْفِ صَلَاةٍ فِيمَا سِوَاهُ ، إِلَّا الْمَسْجِدَ الْحَرَامَ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: The reward for offering prayer in my mosque is one thousand times greater than in all other mosques except Masjid al-Haram.
Hadith 7482
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ ، أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَمْرٍو ، عَنْ أَبِي الْحَكَمِ مَوْلَى اللَّيْثِيِّينَ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " لَا سَبَقَ ، إِلَّا فِي خُفٍّ ، أَوْ حَافِرٍ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Only camels or horses may be raced.
Hadith 7483
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ ، أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ ، عَنْ أَبِي الزِّنَادِ ، عَنِ الْأَعْرَجِ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " مَثَلُ الْبَخِيلِ ، وَالْمُنْفِقِ كَمَثَلِ رَجُلَيْنِ عَلَيْهِمَا جُبَّتَانِ مِنْ حَدِيدٍ ، مِنْ لَدُنْ ثُدِيِّهِمَا إِلَى تَرَاقِيهِمَا ، فَأَمَّا الْمُنْفِقُ ، فَلَا يُنْفِقُ مِنْهَا إِلَّا اتَّسَعَتْ حَلَقَةٌ مَكَانَهَا ، فَهُوَ يُوَسِّعُهَا عَلَيْهِ ، وَأَمَّا الْبَخِيلُ ، فَإِنَّهَا لَا تَزْدَادُ عَلَيْهِ ، إِلَّا اسْتِحْكَامًا " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: The example of a miser and a spender is like that of two men who have iron armor on their bodies from the chest to the collarbone. Whenever the spender spends something, the armor becomes more spacious in proportion to his spending and it opens up for him, while the miser’s armor becomes tighter and tighter.
Hadith 7484
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ ، أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ ، عَنْ مُوسَى بْنِ يَسَارٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، قَالَ : قَالَ أَبُو الْقَاسِمِ : " لَوْ كَانَ أُحُدٌ عِنْدِي ذَهَبًا ، لَسَرَّنِي أَنْ أُنْفِقَهُ فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ ، وَأَنْ لَا يَأْتِيَ عَلَيْهِ ثَلَاثَةٌ وَعِنْدِي مِنْهُ دِينَارٌ وَلَا دِرْهَمٌ ، إِلَّا شَيْءٌ أُرْصِدُهُ فِي دَيْنٍ يَكُونُ عَلَيَّ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: If the mountain of Uhud were to be turned into gold for me, I would be pleased that I spend it in the way of Allah, and not even three days should pass over me with a single dinar or dirham remaining with me, except for that which I keep aside for the repayment of a debt that is due upon me.
Hadith 7485
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ ، أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ ، عَنْ مُوسَى بْنِ يَسَارٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " مَثَلِي وَمَثَلُ الْأَنْبِيَاءِ مِنْ قَبْلِي ، كَمَثَلِ رَجُلٍ ابْتَنَى بُنْيَانًا ، فَأَحْسَنَهُ ، وَأَكْمَلَهُ إِلَّا مَوْضِعَ لَبِنَةٍ مِنْ زَاوِيَةٍ مِنْ زَوَايَاهُ ، فَجَعَلَ النَّاسُ يُطِيفُونَ بِهِ ، وَيَعْجَبُونَ مِنْهُ ، وَيَقُولُونَ مَا رَأَيْنَا بُنْيَانًا أَحْسَنَ مِنْ هَذَا ، إِلَّا مَوْضِعَ هَذِهِ اللَّبِنَةِ ، فَكُنْتُ أَنَا هَذِهِ اللَّبِنَةَ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: The example of me and the prophets before me is like that of a man who built a very beautiful and splendid building, except that he left a space for one brick in its corner. People would walk around it, marvel at it, and say, "We have never seen a more excellent building than this, except for the place of this brick." So I am that brick.
Hadith 7486
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ ، أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدٌ ، عَنْ عِيَاضِ بْنِ دِينَارٍ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ يَقُولُ : قَالَ أَبُو الْقَاسِمِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " أَوَّلُ زُمْرَةٍ مِنْ أُمَّتِي تَدْخُلُ الْجَنَّةَ عَلَى صُورَةِ الْقَمَرِ لَيْلَةَ الْبَدْرِ ، وَالَّتِي تَلِيهَا عَلَى أَشَدِّ نَجْمٍ فِي السَّمَاءِ إِضَاءَةً " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: The first group of my Ummah to enter Paradise will have faces as bright as the full moon of the fourteenth night. The group that enters after them will be like the brightest star in the sky.
Hadith 7487
(حديث مرفوع) (حديث موقوف) " وَفِي الْجُمُعَةِ سَاعَةٌ لَا يُوَافِقُهَا عَبْدٌ مُسْلِمٌ قَائِمٌ يُصَلِّي ، يَسْأَلُ اللَّهَ فِيهَا شَيْئًا ، إِلَّا أَعْطَاهُ إِيَّاهُ " .
And on Friday there is a moment when, if a Muslim servant encounters it while standing and praying, asking Allah for goodness, Allah will surely grant him that thing.
Hadith 7488
(حديث مرفوع) (حديث موقوف) قَالَ أَبُو الْقَاسِمِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " لَا تَقُومُ السَّاعَةُ ، حَتَّى يُقْبَضَ الْعِلْمُ ، وَتَظْهَرَ الْفِتَنُ وَيَكْثُرَ الْهَرْجُ " ، قَالُوا : وَمَا الْهَرْجُ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ؟ قَالَ : " الْقَتْلُ " .
And Abu al-Qasim (peace be upon him) said: The Hour will not come until knowledge is taken away, tribulations will appear, and killing will become widespread. The companions (may Allah be pleased with them) asked: O Prophet of Allah! What is meant by killing? The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: Killing, killing.
Hadith 7489
حَدَّثَنَا يَعْقُوبُ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي ، عَنِ ابْنِ إِسْحَاقَ ، حَدَّثَنِي عِيَاضُ بْنُ دِينَارٍ اللَّيْثِيُّ وَكَانَ ثِقَةً ، قال : قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ ، وَهُوَ يَخْطُبُ النَّاسَ يَوْمَ الْجُمُعَةِ ، خَلِيفَةَ مَرْوَانَ بْنِ الْحَكَمِ عَلَى الْمَدِينَةِ أَيَّامَ الْحَجِّ ، يَقُول : قَالَ أَبُو الْقَاسِمِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " أَوَّلُ زُمْرَةٍ " ، وَذَكَرَ الْحَدِيثَ .
This hadith is also narrated through this second chain, however, there is an addition in it that Hazrat Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated this hadith in the Friday sermon while he was the governor of Madinah Munawwarah.
Hadith 7490
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ ، أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ يَسَارٍ مَوْلَى الْحَسَنِ بْنِ عَلِيٍّ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " وَالَّذِي نَفْسِي بِيَدِهِ لَأَنْ يَأْخُذَ أَحَدُكُمْ حَبْلَهُ ، فَيَذْهَبَ إِلَى الْجَبَلِ ، فَيَحْتَطِبَ ، ثُمَّ يَأْتِيَ بِهِ يَحْمِلُهُ عَلَى ظَهْرِهِ ، فَيَبِيعَهُ ، فَيَأْكُلَ ، خَيْرٌ لَهُ مِنْ أَنْ يَسْأَلَ النَّاسَ ، وَلَأَنْ يَأْخُذَ تُرَابًا ، فَيَجْعَلَهُ فِي فِيهِ ، خَيْرٌ لَهُ مِنْ أَنْ يَجْعَلَ فِي فِيهِ مَا حَرَّمَ اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: By Him in Whose hand is my soul, it is much better that one of you takes a rope, goes to the mountain, cuts wood, carries it on his back, sells it, and eats from what he earns or gives it in charity, rather than going to someone and begging from him. And it is better for a person to take dust and put it in his mouth than to put a morsel of the unlawful in his mouth.
Hadith 7491
(حديث قدسي) حَدَّثَنَا حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ ، أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدٌ ، عَنْ مُوسَى بْنِ يَسَارٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " إِنَّ لِلَّهِ مَلَائِكَةً يَتَعَاقَبُونَ ، مَلَائِكَةَ اللَّيْلِ ، وَمَلَائِكَةَ النَّهَارِ ، فَيَجْتَمِعُونَ فِي صَلَاةِ الْفَجْرِ ، وَصَلَاةِ الْعَصْرِ ، ثُمَّ يَعْرُجُ إِلَيْهِ الَّذِينَ كَانُوا فِيكُمْ ، فَيَسْأَلُهُمْ وَهُوَ أَعْلَمُ ، فَيَقُولُ : كَيْفَ تَرَكْتُمْ عِبَادِي ، فَيَقُولُونَ : تَرَكْنَاهُمْ يُصَلُّونَ ، وَأَتَيْنَاهُمْ يُصَلُّونَ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: There are some angels of Allah who come to the earth in turns; some of these angels are for the night and some for the day. These angels gather at the times of Fajr prayer and Asr prayer. Then those angels who have stayed among you ascend to the heavens. Although Allah knows everything, He asks them: In what condition did you leave My servants? They say: When we left them, they were praying, and when we came to them, they were praying as well.
Hadith 7492
(حديث قدسي) حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ ، أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدٌ ، عَنْ مُوسَى بْنِ يَسَارٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ . وَعَنْ أَبِي الزِّنَادِ ، عَنِ الْأَعْرَجِ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " الصِّيَامُ جُنَّةٌ ، وَإِذَا كَانَ أَحَدُكُمْ يَوْمًا صَائِمًا ، فَلَا يَرْفُثْ ، وَلَا يَجْهَلْ ، وَإِنْ امْرُؤٌ قَاتَلَهُ ، أَوْ شَاتَمَهُ ، فَلْيَقُلْ : إِنِّي صَائِمٌ ، إِنِّي صَائِمٌ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Fasting is a shield. When any one of you is fasting, he should not indulge in any indecent or ignorant talk. If someone wants to fight or abuse him, he should simply say: I am fasting.
Hadith 7493
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ ، أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدٌ ، عَنْ مُوسَى بْنِ يَسَارٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " وَالَّذِي نَفْسُ مُحَمَّدٍ بِيَدِهِ لَخُلُوفُ ، فَمِ الصَّائِمِ أَطْيَبُ عِنْدَ اللَّهِ مِنْ رِيحِ الْمِسْكِ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: By Him in Whose hand is the soul of Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him), the breath of the fasting person is more pleasant to Allah than the fragrance of musk.
Hadith 7494
(حديث قدسي) (حديث موقوف) وَقَالَ : وَقَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : يَقُولُ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ : كُلُّ عَمَلِ ابْنِ آدَمَ لَهُ ، إِلَّا الصِّيَامَ ، فَهُوَ لِي ، وَأَنَا أَجْزِي بِهِ ، إِنَّمَا يَتْرُكُ طَعَامَهُ وَشَرَابَهُ مِنْ أَجْلِي ، فَصِيَامُهُ لي ، وَأَنَا أَجْزِي بِهِ ، كُلُّ حَسَنَةٍ بِعَشْرِ أَمْثَالِهَا ، إِلَى سَبْعِ مِائَةِ ضِعْفٍ ، إِلَّا الصِّيَامَ ، فَهُوَ لِي ، وَأَنَا أَجْزِي بِهِ " .
The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said that Allah Almighty says: Every deed of the son of Adam is for him except fasting; it is for Me and I Myself will reward it. The fasting person leaves his food and drink for My sake, so his fast is for Me, and therefore I Myself will give its reward. Every good deed is multiplied tenfold up to seven hundred times, except fasting, for it is for Me and I alone will reward it.
Hadith 7495
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ ، أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدٌ ، عَنْ مُوسَى بْنِ يَسَارٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ . وَعَنْ أَبِي الزِّنَادِ ، عَنِ الْأَعْرَجِ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " إِيَّاكُمْ وَالْوِصَالَ " ، قَالُوا : فَإِنَّكَ تُوَاصِلُ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ؟ قَالَ : " إِنِّي لَسْتُ فِي ذَلِكَ مِثْلَكُمْ ، إِنِّي أَظَلُّ يُطْعِمُنِي رَبِّي وَيَسْقِينِي ، فَاكْلَفُوا مِنَ الْأَعْمَالِ مَا لَكُمْ بِهِ طَاقَةٌ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Protect yourselves from fasting continuously for several days with only one pre-dawn meal (suhoor)." The Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said this three times. The companions (may Allah be pleased with them) submitted, "O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), you yourself fast continuously in this manner?" The Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) replied, "You are not like me in this matter. I spend the night in such a state that my Lord Himself gives me food and drink. Therefore, take upon yourselves only as much as you have the strength to bear."
Hadith 7496
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ ، أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدٌ ، عَنْ أَبِي الزِّنَادِ ، عَنِ الْأَعْرَجِ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " النَّاسُ مَعَادِنُ تَجِدُونَ خِيَارَهُمْ فِي الْجَاهِلِيَّةِ خِيَارَهُمْ فِي الْإِسْلَامِ ، إِذَا فَقِهُوا " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: People are like hidden treasures (mines). You will find that those who were the best in the time of ignorance are also the best in the time of Islam, provided they become learned in religion.
Hadith 7497
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنِي يَزِيدُ ، أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدٌ ، عَنْ أَبِي الزِّنَادِ ، عَنْ الْأَعْرَجِ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " الْمُسْلِمُ يَأْكُلُ فِي مِعًى وَاحِدٍ ، وَالْكَافِرُ يَأْكُلُ فِي سَبْعَةِ أَمْعَاءٍ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: A Muslim eats with one intestine, and a disbeliever eats with seven intestines.
Hadith 7498
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ ، أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدٌ ، عَنْ أَبِي الزِّنَادِ ، عَنِ الْأَعْرَجِ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " فِي الْجَنَّةِ شَجَرَةٌ يَسِيرُ الرَّاكِبُ فِي ظِلِّهَا مِائَةَ سَنَةٍ ، لَا يَقْطَعُهَا " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: In Paradise, there is a tree such that if a rider were to travel in its shade for a hundred years, he would still not be able to cross it.

(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ ، أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ ، عَنْ أَبِي الزِّنَادِ ، عَنِ الْأَعْرَجِ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، قَالَ أَبُو الْقَاسِمِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " وَالَّذِي نَفْسُ مُحَمَّدٍ بِيَدِهِ ، لَوْ تَعْلَمُونَ ، مَا أَعْلَمُ لَبَكَيْتُمْ كَثِيرًا ، وَلَضَحِكْتُمْ قَلِيلًا " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that Abu al-Qasim (peace and blessings be upon him) said: By Him in Whose hand is the life of Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him), if you knew what I know, you would begin to weep much and laugh little.
Hadith 7500
(حديث قدسي) حَدَّثَنَا حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ ، أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدٌ ، عَنْ أَبِي الزِّنَادِ ، عَنْ الْأَعْرَجِ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " لَمَّا قَضَى اللَّهُ الْخَلْقَ كَتَبَ فِي كِتَابِهِ ، فَهُوَ عِنْدَهُ فَوْقَ الْعَرْشِ : إِنَّ رَحْمَتِي سَبَقَتْ غَضَبِي " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: When Allah decided to create the creation, He wrote in a book which is with Him above the Throne: "My mercy prevails over My wrath."
Hadith 7501
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ ، أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدٌ ، عَنْ أَبِي الزِّنَادِ ، عَنْ الْأَعْرَجِ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " ذَرُونِي مَا تَرَكْتُكُمْ ، فَإِنَّمَا هَلَكَ الَّذِينَ مِنْ قَبْلِكُمْ بِسُؤَالِهِمْ ، وَاخْتِلَافِهِمْ عَلَى أَنْبِيَائِهِمْ ، فَإِذَا نَهَيْتُكُمْ عَنِ الشَّيْءِ ، فَاجْتَنِبُوهُ ، وَإِذَا أَمَرْتُكُمْ بِالشَّيْءِ ، فَائْتُوا مِنْهُ مَا اسْتَطَعْتُمْ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: As long as I leave you regarding a matter, you too leave me regarding it, because the nations before you were destroyed only due to their excessive questioning and differing with their prophets. Whatever I forbid you from, abstain from it, and whatever I command you to do, do it to the best of your ability.
Hadith 7502
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ ، أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدٌ ، عَنْ أَبِي الزِّنَادِ ، عَنْ الْأَعْرَجِ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " إِنَّ لِلَّهِ تِسْعَةً وَتِسْعِينَ اسْمًا ، مِائَةً غَيْرَ وَاحِدٍ ، مَنْ أَحْصَاهَا دَخَلَ الْجَنَّةَ ، إِنَّهُ وِتْرٌ يُحِبُّ الْوِتْرَ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Allah Almighty has ninety-nine names, one less than a hundred. Whoever enumerates them will enter Paradise. Indeed, Allah is Odd and He loves the odd number.
Hadith 7503
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْوَاحِدِ الْحَدَّادُ أَبُو عُبَيْدَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا حَبِيبُ بْنُ الشَّهِيدِ ، عَنْ عَطَاءٍ ، قَالَ : قَالَ أَبُو هُرَيْرَةَ : " كُلُّ صَلَاةٍ يُقْرَأُ فِيهَا ، فَمَا أَسْمَعَنَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، أَسْمَعْنَاكُمْ ، وَمَا أَخْفَى عَلَيْنَا ، أَخْفَيْنَا عَلَيْكُمْ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that recitation is done in every prayer. However, in those prayers in which the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) recited aloud to us, we too will recite aloud to you, and in those in which he recited quietly, we too will recite quietly.
Hadith 7504
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْوَاحِدِ ، حَدَّثَنَا الرَّبِيعُ بْنُ مُسْلِمٍ الْقُرَشِيُّ ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ زِيَادٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " مَنْ لَمْ يَشْكُرْ النَّاسَ ، لَمْ يَشْكُرْ اللَّهَ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Whoever does not thank people does not thank Allah either.
Hadith 7505
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ ، أَخْبَرَنَا عَقِيلُ بْنُ مَعْقِلٍ ، عَنْ هَمَّامِ بْنِ مُنَبِّهٍ ، قَالَ : قَدِمْتُ الْمَدِينَةَ ، فَرَأَيْتُ حَلْقَةً عِنْدَ مِنْبَرِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَسَأَلْتُ ، فَقِيلَ لِي : أَبُو هُرَيْرَةَ ، قَالَ : فَسَأَلْتُ ، فَقَالَ لِي : مِمَّنْ أَنْتَ ؟ قُلْتُ : مِنْ أَهْلِ الْيَمَنِ ، فَقَالَ : سَمِعْتُ حِبِّي ، أَوْ قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ أَبَا الْقَاسِمِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ : " الْإِيمَانُ يَمَانٍ ، وَالْحِكْمَةُ يَمَانِيَةٌ ، هُمْ أَرَقُّ قُلُوبًا ، وَالْجَفَاءُ فِي الْفَدَّادِينَ ، أَصْحَابِ الْوَبَرِ " ، وَأَشَارَ بِيَدِهِ نَحْوَ الْمَشْرِقِ .
Hammam bin Munabbih, may Allah have mercy on him, says that once I visited Madinah Munawwarah. I saw a study circle near the pulpit in Masjid Nabawi. I asked the people, "Whose circle is this?" The people replied, "This is the circle of Hazrat Abu Hurairah, may Allah be pleased with him." I also asked Hazrat Abu Hurairah, may Allah be pleased with him, a question. He said, "Where are you from?" I replied, "I am from the people of Yemen." Upon hearing this, he said, "I heard my beloved Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) say: 'Faith and wisdom are very excellent among the people of Yemen. These people are soft-hearted, whereas the hardness of hearts is among the owners of camels,' and he pointed with his hand towards the east."
Hadith 7506
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ ، أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ عَوْنٍ ، حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو مُحَمَّدٍ عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ عُبَيْدٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، قَالَ : " كُنْتُ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي جَنَازَةٍ ، فَكُنْتُ إِذَا مَشَيْتُ سَبَقَنِي ، فَأُهَرْوِلُ ، فَإِذَا هَرْوَلْتُ سَبَقْتُهُ ، فَالْتَفَتُّ إِلَى رَجُلٍ إِلَى جَنْبِي ، فَقُلْتُ : تُطْوَى لَهُ الْأَرْضُ ، وَخَلِيلِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that I went with the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) to a funeral. When I was walking at my own pace, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) would go ahead of me. Then when I started running, I would get ahead. Suddenly, my eyes fell on a man at my side, so I thought in my heart that, by the friend Abraham, the earth is folded up for the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him).
Hadith 7507
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ ، أَخْبَرَنَا يَحْيَى يَعْنِي ابْنَ سَعِيدٍ ، أَنَّ أَبَا بَكْرِ بْنَ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَمْرِو بْنِ حَزْمٍ أَخْبَرَهُ ، أَنَّ عُمَرَ بْنَ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ أَخْبَرَهُ ، أَنَّ أَبَا بَكْرِ بْنَ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ الْحَارِثِ بْنِ هِشَامٍ أَخْبَرَهُ ، أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ ، يَقُولُ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " مَنْ وَجَدَ مَالَهُ بِعَيْنِهِ عِنْدَ إِنْسَانٍ قَدْ أَفْلَسَ ، أَوْ عِنْدَ رَجُلٍ قَدْ أَفْلَسَ ، فَهُوَ أَحَقُّ بِهِ مِنْ غَيْرِهِ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: If a man is declared bankrupt and someone finds his own property with him in its original form, then compared to others, he has a greater right to that property.
Hadith 7508
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ ، أَخْبَرَنَا زَكَرِيَّا ، عَنْ سَعْدِ بْنِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ ، عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " جِدَالٌ فِي الْقُرْآنِ كُفْرٌ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: Disputing about the Qur'an is disbelief.
Hadith 7509
(حديث قدسي) حَدَّثَنَا حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ ، أَخْبَرَنَا هِشَامٌ ، وَعَبْدُ الْوَهَّابِ ، أَخْبَرَنَا هِشَامٌ ، عَنْ يَحْيَى ، عَنْ أَبِي جَعْفَرٍ ، أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ يَقُولُ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " إِذَا بَقِيَ ثُلُثُ اللَّيْلِ نَزَلَ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ إِلَى السَّمَاءِ الدُّنْيَا ، فَيَقُولُ : مَنْ ذَا الَّذِي يَدْعُونِي ، فَأَسْتَجِيبَ لَهُ ؟ مَنْ ذَا الَّذِي يَسْتَغْفِرُنِي ، فَأَغْفِرَ لَهُ ؟ مَنْ ذَا الَّذِي يَسْتَرْزِقُنِي ، فَأَرْزُقَهُ ؟ مَنْ ذَا الَّذِي يَسْتَكْشِفُ الضُّرَّ ، فَأَكْشِفَهُ عَنْهُ ؟ حَتَّى يَنْفَجِرَ الْفَجْرُ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: When one third of the night remains, Allah Almighty descends to the lowest heaven and announces: Who is there who will supplicate to Me so that I may accept it? Who is there who will seek forgiveness from Me so that I may forgive him? Who is there who will ask Me for sustenance so that I may grant him sustenance? Who is there who will request the removal of afflictions so that I may remove his afflictions? This announcement continues until the break of dawn.
Hadith 7510
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ ، أَخْبَرَنَا هِشَامٌ ، عَنْ يَحْيَى ، عَنْ أَبِي جَعْفَرٍ ، أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ ، يَقُولُ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " ثَلَاثُ دَعَوَاتٍ مُسْتَجَابَاتٌ لَا شَكَّ فِيهِنَّ : دَعْوَةُ الْمَظْلُومِ ، وَدَعْوَةُ الْمُسَافِرِ ، وَدَعْوَةُ الْوَالِدِ عَلَى وَلَدِهِ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: There are three types of people whose supplications are accepted and there is no doubt about their acceptance: the supplication of the oppressed, the supplication of the traveler, and the supplication of a father regarding his son.
Hadith 7511
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ ، أَخْبَرَنَا هِشَامٌ ، عَنْ يَحْيَى ، عَنْ أَبِي جَعْفَرٍ ، أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ ، يَقُولُ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " أَفْضَلُ الْأَعْمَالِ عِنْدَ اللَّهِ : إِيمَانٌ لَا شَكَّ فِيهِ ، وَغَزْوٌ لَا غُلُولَ فِيهِ ، وَحَجٌّ مَبْرُورٌ " . قَالَ أَبُو هُرَيْرَةَ : حَجٌّ مَبْرُورٌ يُكَفِّرُ خَطَايَا تِلْكَ السَّنَةِ .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: The most virtuous deed in the sight of Allah is such faith in Allah in which there is no doubt, and such striving (jihad) in which there is no dishonesty, and an accepted Hajj (Hajj Mabroor). Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) says that Hajj Mabroor becomes an expiation for all the sins of that year.
Hadith 7512
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْوَاحِدِ الْحَدَّادُ ، عَنْ خَلَفِ بْنِ مِهْرَانَ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ عَبْدَ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنَ الْأَصَمِّ ، قَالَ : قَالَ أَبُو هُرَيْرَةَ : " أَوْصَانِي خَلِيلِي بِثَلَاثٍ : صَوْمِ ثَلَاثَةِ أَيَّامٍ مِنْ كُلِّ شَهْرٍ ، وَصَلَاةِ الضُّحَى ، وَلَا أَنَامُ إِلَّا عَلَى وِتْرٍ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that my beloved friend (peace and blessings be upon him) advised me regarding three things (which I will not leave until my death): (1) to fast three days every month, (2) to perform the Duha (forenoon) prayer, (3) to offer the Witr prayer before sleeping.
Hadith 7513
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عُبَيْدَةَ الْحَدَّادُ كُوفِيٌّ ثِقَةٌ ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو ، عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " لَوْلَا أَنْ أَشُقَّ عَلَى أُمَّتِي ، لَأَمَرْتُهُمْ عِنْدَ كُلِّ صَلَاةٍ بِوُضُوءٍ ، أَوْ مَعَ كُلِّ وُضُوءٍ سِوَاكٌ ، وَلَأَخَّرْتُ عِشَاءَ الْآخِرَةِ إِلَى ثُلُثِ اللَّيْلِ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: If I did not fear hardship for my ummah, I would have ordered them to use the miswak at the time of every prayer and to delay the Isha prayer until one third or half of the night had passed.
Hadith 7514
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْأَعْلَى ، عَنْ مَعْمَرٍ ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ ، عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " إِذَا أَصْلَحَ خَادِمُ أَحَدِكُمْ لَهُ طَعَامَهُ ، فَكَفَاهُ حَرَّهُ وَبَرْدَهُ ، فَلْيُجْلِسْهُ مَعَهُ ، فَإِنْ أَبَى ، فَلْيُنَاوِلْهُ أُكْلَةً فِي يَدِهِ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: When any one of you has his servant cook food for him and protects him from its heat and cold, then he should make him sit with him and feed him. If he cannot do so, then he should at least give him a morsel from it.
Hadith 7515
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْأَعْلَى ، عَنْ مَعْمَرٍ ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ ، عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، قَالَ : أُقِيمَتْ الصَّلَاةُ ، فَجَاءَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَقَامَ فِي مُصَلَّاهُ ، فَذَكَرَ أَنَّهُ لَمْ يَغْتَسِلْ ، فَانْصَرَفَ ، ثُمَّ قَالَ : " كَمَا أَنْتُمْ " ، فَصَفَفْنَا ، وَإِنَّ رَأْسَهُ لَيَنْطِفُ ، فَصَلَّى بِنَا .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that once the iqamah for prayer was being pronounced, the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) also arrived and stood at his place. After a short while, the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) remembered that he had not performed ghusl (ritual bath). So, he signaled to the noble companions (may Allah be pleased with them) with his hand to stay where they were, and the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) left. When he returned, drops of water were dripping from his head. Then he (peace and blessings be upon him) led us in prayer.
Hadith 7516
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْأَعْلَى ، عَنْ مَعْمَرٍ ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ ، عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " إِذَا رَأَيْتُمْ الْهِلَالَ ، فَصُومُوا ، وَإِذَا رَأَيْتُمُوهُ ، فَأَفْطِرُوا ، فَإِنْ غُمَّ عَلَيْكُمْ ، فَصُومُوا ثَلَاثِينَ يَوْمًا " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: When you see the moon, then start fasting, and when you see the moon, then celebrate Eid-ul-Fitr. If it is cloudy, then complete thirty days of fasting.
Hadith 7517
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْأَعْلَى ، عَنْ مَعْمَرٍ ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ ، عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، أَنّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " إِذَا قَامَ أَحَدُكُمْ مِنَ اللَّيْلِ ، فَلَا يَغْمِسْ يَدَهُ فِي إِنَائِهِ ، حَتَّى يَغْسِلَهَا ثَلَاثًا ، فَإِنَّهُ لَا يَدْرِي أَيْنَ بَاتَتْ يَدُهُ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: When any one of you wakes up from his sleep, he should not put his hand into any vessel until he has washed it three times, for he does not know where his hand spent the night.
Hadith 7518
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْأَعْلَى ، عَنْ مَعْمَرٍ ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ ، عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " لَا تَقُولُوا خَيْبَةَ الدَّهْرِ ، إِنَّ اللَّهَ هُوَ الدَّهْرُ ، وَلَا تُسَمُّوا الْعِنَبَ الْكَرْمَ " .
It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Do not say that the times have been ruined, because the Creator of time is also Allah Himself, and do not call grapes "karm."
