Musnad of Abdullah ibn Umar ibn al-Khattab (may Allah be pleased with them)
Hadith 4728
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ نُمَيْرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا فُضَيْلٌ يَعْنِي ابْنَ غَزْوَانَ ، حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو دُهْقَانَةَ ، قَالَ : كُنْتُ جَالِسًا عِنْدَ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ ، فَقَالَ : أَتَى رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ضَيْفٌ ، فَقَالَ لِبِلَالٍ : " ائْتِنَا بِطَعَامٍ ، فَذَهَبَ بِلَالٌ ، فَأَبْدَلَ صَاعَيْنِ مِنْ تَمْرٍ بِصَاعٍ مِنْ تَمْرٍ جَيِّدٍ ، وَكَانَ تَمْرُهُمْ دُونًا ، فَأَعْجَبَ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ التَّمْرُ ، فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : مِنْ أَيْنَ هَذَا التَّمْرُ ؟ ، فَأَخْبَرَهُ أَنَّهُ أَبْدَلَ صَاعًا بِصَاعَيْنِ ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : رُدَّ عَلَيْنَا تَمْرَنَا " .
Abu Dahqanah says that once I was sitting in the company of Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them), and he said that once a guest came to the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him). The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) ordered Sayyiduna Bilal (may Allah be pleased with him) to bring food. Sayyiduna Bilal (may Allah be pleased with him) went and gave two sa’ of dates that he had, which were of a slightly lower quality, and in exchange brought one sa’ of fine dates. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was surprised to see the fine dates and asked, “Where did these dates come from?” Sayyiduna Bilal (may Allah be pleased with him) informed him that he had given two sa’ and taken one sa’ of dates. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “Return the dates that were ours.”
Hadith 4729
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ نُمَيْرٍ ، أَخْبَرَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ ، أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّم قَالَ : " مَنْ شَرِبَ الْخَمْرَ فِي الدُّنْيَا لَمْ يَشْرَبْهَا فِي الْآخِرَةِ ، إِلَّا أَنْ يَتُوبَ " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever drinks alcohol in this world and does not repent from it, he will be deprived of it in the Hereafter and will not be given alcohol there."
Hadith 4730
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ نُمَيْرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ ، أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ : " إِذَا دُعِيَ أَحَدُكُمْ إِلَى وَلِيمَةِ عُرْسٍ فَلْيُجِبْ " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "When any of you is invited to a wedding feast, he should accept the invitation."
Hadith 4731
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ نُمَيْرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ ، قَالَ : اسْتَأْذَنَ الْعَبَّاسُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْمُطَّلِبِ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنْ يَبِيتَ بِمَكَّةَ لَيَالِيَ مِنًى مِنْ أَجْلِ سِقَايَتِهِ ، " فَأَذِنَ لَهُ " .
It is narrated from Nafi' (may Allah have mercy on him) on the authority of Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that Sayyiduna Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) sought permission from the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) to stay in Makkah during the days of Mina in order to serve the pilgrims by providing them with water, so the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) granted him permission.
Hadith 4732
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ نُمَيْرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ ، أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " عَامَلَ أَهْلَ خَيْبَرَ بِشَطْرِ مَا خَرَجَ مِنْ زَرْعٍ أَوْ تَمْرٍ ، فَكَانَ يُعْطِي أَزْوَاجَهُ كُلَّ عَامٍ مِئَةَ وَسْقٍ : َثَمَانِينَ وَسْقًا مِنْ تَمْرٍ ، وَعِشْرِينَ وَسْقًا مِنْ شَعِيرٍ ، فَلَمَّا قَامَ عُمَرُ بْنُ الْخَطَّابِ قَسَمَ خَيْبَرَ ، فَخَيَّرَ أَزْوَاجَ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنْ يُقْطِعَ لَهُنَّ مِنَ الْأَرْضِ ، أَوْ يَضْمَنَ لَهُنَّ الْوُسُوقَ كُلَّ عَامٍ ، فَاخَتَلفْنَ ، فَمِنْهُنَّ مَنْ اخْتَارَ أَنْ يُقْطِعَ لَهَا الْأَرْضَ ، وَمِنْهُنَّ مَنْ اخْتَارَ الْوُسُوقَ ، وَكَانَتْ حَفْصَةُ وَعَائِشَةُ مِمَّنْ اخْتَارَ الْوُسُوقَ " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) made an agreement with the people of Khaybar that whatever produce came from the fruits or crops, half of it would be given to him. The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to give his noble wives one hundred wasqs every year, of which eighty wasqs were dates and twenty wasqs were barley. When Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) was honored with the position of caliphate, he distributed Khaybar and gave the noble wives the choice: if they wished, they could take a piece of land, or if they wished, Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) would continue to give them one hundred wasqs every year as before. Some of the noble wives preferred to take a piece of land, and some preferred to continue receiving one hundred wasqs as before. Sayyidah Hafsah (may Allah be pleased with her) and Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) were among those who preferred the wasqs.
Hadith 4733
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ نُمَيْرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، قَالَ : " غَدَوْنَا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مِنْ مِنًى إِلَى عَرَفَاتٍ ، مِنَّا الْمُلَبِّي ، وَمِنَّا الْمُكَبِّرُ " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that when we set out from Mina towards the plain of Arafat with the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), some of us were reciting the takbir and some were reciting the talbiyah.
Hadith 4734
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ نُمَيْرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ ، قَالَ : " اتَّخَذَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ خَاتَمًا مِنْ وَرِقٍ ، فَكَانَ فِي يَدِهِ ، ثُمَّ كَانَ فِي يَدِ أَبِي بَكْرٍ مِنْ بَعْدِهِ ، ثُمَّ كَانَ فِي يَدِ عُمَرَ ، ثُمَّ كَانَ فِي يَدِ عُثْمَانَ ، نَقْشُهُ مُحَمَّدٌ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) had a ring made of silver, which remained in his hand. After the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), that ring remained in the hand of Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him), then in the hand of Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him), and then in the hand of Sayyiduna Uthman (may Allah be pleased with him), in order. On it was engraved: "Muhammad, the Messenger of Allah."
Hadith 4735
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ نُمَيْرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ عُمَرَ ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ ، أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ : " لَا يُقِيمُ الرَّجُلُ الرَّجُلَ عَنْ مَقْعَدِهِ ثُمَّ يَقْعُدُ فِيهِ ، وَلَكِنْ تَفَسَّحُوا وَتَوَسَّعُوا " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "No person should make another get up from his place and then sit there himself, but rather, spread out and make room for each other."
Hadith 4736
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ نُمَيْرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ ، أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ : " مَنْ اشْتَرَى طَعَامًا ، فَلَا يَبِعْهُ حَتَّى يَسْتَوْفِيَهُ " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever buys grain should not sell it further until he has taken possession of it."
Hadith 4737
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ نُمَيْرٍ ، أَخْبَرَنَا حَجَّاجٌ ، عَنْ وَبَرَةَ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ ، قَالَ : " أَمَرَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِقَتْلِ الْفَأْرَةِ ، وَالْغُرَابِ ، وَالذِّئْبِ " ، قَالَ : قِيلَ لِابْنِ عُمَرَ : الْحَيَّةُ وَالْعَقْرَبُ ؟ قَالَ : قَدْ كَانَ يُقَالُ ذَلِكَ .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) ordered the killing of mice, crows, and wolves. Someone asked Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) about snakes and scorpions, so he said that it was also said regarding them.
Hadith 4738
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ نُمَيْرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ ، قَالَ : " نَهَى النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنْ تُتَلَقَّى السِّلَعُ حَتَّى تَدْخُلَ الْأَسْوَاقَ " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade meeting traders before their goods reach the market and the sale involving deception.
Hadith 4739
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ نُمَيْرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ ، أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ رَأَى فِي بَعْضِ مَغَازِيهِ امْرَأَةً مَقْتُولَةً ، فَنَهَى عَنْ " قَتْلِ النِّسَاءِ وَالصِّبْيَانِ " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) saw a slain woman in one of the battles, so he forbade the killing of women and children.
Hadith 4740
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا يَعْلَى بْنُ عُبَيْدٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " يَنْهَى النِّسَاءَ فِي الْإِحْرَامِ عَنِ الْقُفَّازِ وَالنِّقَابِ ، وَمَا مَسَّ الْوَرْسُ وَالزَّعْفَرَانُ مِنَ الثِّيَابِ " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that I heard the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) prohibiting women in the state of ihram from wearing gloves and face veils, and from wearing clothes that have been dyed with wars or saffron.
Hadith 4741
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا يَعْلَى بْنُ عُبَيْدٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدٌ يَعْنِي ابْنَ إِسْحَاقَ ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " إِذَا نَعَسَ أَحَدُكُمْ فِي مَجْلِسِهِ يَوْمَ الْجُمُعَةِ ، فَلْيَتَحَوَّلْ إِلَى غَيْرِهِ " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "When any one of you becomes drowsy while sitting in his place on Friday, he should change his place."
Hadith 4742
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو أُسَامَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ ، عَنْ أَبِي بَكْرِ بْنِ سَالِمٍ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ جَدِّهِ ، أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ : " إِنَّ الَّذِي يَكْذِبُ عَلَيَّ يُبْنَى لَهُ بَيْتٌ فِي النَّارِ " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever attributes a lie to me, a house will be built for him in Hell."
Hadith 4743
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ نُمَيْرٍ ، عَنْ حَنْظَلَةَ ، عَنْ سَالِمٍ ، سَمِعْتُ ابْنَ عُمَرَ ، يَقُولُ : إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ : " رَأَيْتُ عِنْدَ الْكَعْبَةِ رَجُلًا آدَمَ سَبْطَ الرَّأْسِ ، وَاضِعًا يَدَهُ عَلَى رَجُلَيْنِ ، يَسْكُبُ رَأْسُهُ ، أَوْ يَقْطُرُ رَأْسُهُ ، فَسَأَلْتُ مَنْ هَذَا ؟ فَقَالُوا : عِيسَى ابْنُ مَرْيَمَ ، أَوْ الْمَسِيحُ ابْنُ مَرْيَمَ ، وَلَا أَدْرِي أَيَّ ذَلِكَ قَالَ ، وَرَأَيْتُ وَرَاءَهُ رَجُلًا أَحْمَرَ ، جَعْدَ الرَّأْسِ ، أَعْوَرَ عَيْنِ الْيُمْنَى ، أَشْبَهُ مَنْ رَأَيْتُ بِهِ ابْنُ قَطَنٍ ، فَسَأَلْتُ مَنْ هَذَا ؟ فَقَالُوا : الْمَسِيحْ الدَّجَّالُ " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Once I saw in a dream, near the Ka'bah, a man of wheat-colored complexion and straight hair, who had placed his hand on the shoulders of two men. Drops of water were falling from his head. I asked, 'Who is this?' It was made known to me that this is Sayyiduna Isa (Jesus, peace be upon him). Then behind him I saw a man with curly hair, reddish complexion, blind in the right eye, and, according to my sight, he resembled Ibn Qatan the most. I asked, 'Who is this?' It was made known to me that this is the Messiah Dajjal."
Hadith 4744
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو دَاوُدَ الْحَفَرِيُّ ، عَنْ سُفْيَانَ ، عَنْ إِسْمَاعِيلَ ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ ، أَنّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " أَمَرَ بِقَتْلِ الْكِلَابِ ، حَتَّى قَتَلْنَا كَلْبَ امْرَأَةٍ جَاءَتْ مِنَ الْبَادِيَةِ " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) once ordered the killing of dogs. A woman had come from the village; we also killed her dog.
Hadith 4745
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا يَعْلَى بْنُ عُبَيْدٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا فُضَيْلٌ يَعْنِي ابْنَ غَزْوَانَ ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " أَيُّمَا رَجُلٍ كَفَّرَ رَجُلًا ، فَإِنْ كَانَ كَمَا قَالَ ، وَإِلَّا فَقَدْ بَاءَ بِالْكُفْرِ " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever calls a person a disbeliever, if he is truly a disbeliever, then it is correct; otherwise, it returns upon the one who said it, and he himself becomes a disbeliever."
Hadith 4746
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا عَتَّابُ بْنُ زِيَادٍ ، أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ يَعْنِي ابْنَ مُبَارَكٍ ، أَنْبَأَنَا مَالِكُ بْنُ أَنَسٍ ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ ، أَنّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ رَأَى فِي بَعْضِ مَغَازِيهِ امْرَأَةً مَقْتُولَةً ، فَأَنْكَرَ ذَاكَ ، وَنَهَى عَنْ " قَتْلِ النِّسَاءِ وَالصِّبْيَانِ " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) saw a slain woman in one of the battles, so he forbade the killing of women and children.

(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا أَسْبَاطُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا الْأَعْمَشُ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، عَنْ سَعْدٍ مَوْلَى طَلْحَةَ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ ، قَالَ : لَقَدْ سَمِعْتُ مِنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ حَدِيثًا لَوْ لَمْ أَسْمَعْهُ إِلَّا مَرَّةً أَوْ مَرَّتَيْنِ ، حَتَّى عَدَّ سَبْعَ مِرَارٍ ، وَلَكِنْ قَدْ سَمِعْتُهُ أَكْثَرَ مِنْ ذَلِكَ ، قَالَ : " كَانَ الْكِفْلُ مِنْ بَنِي إِسْرَائِيلَ لَا يَتَوَرَّعُ مِنْ ذَنْبٍ عَمِلَهُ ، فَأَتَتْهُ امْرَأَةٌ ، فَأَعْطَاهَا سِتِّينَ دِينَارًا عَلَى أَنْ يَطَأَهَا ، فَلَمَّا قَعَدَ مِنْهَا مَقْعَدَ الرَّجُلِ مِنَ امْرَأَتِهِ أَرْعِدَتْ وَبَكَتْ ، فَقَالَ : مَا يُبْكِيكِ ؟ أَكْرَهْتُكِ ؟ قَالَتْ : لَا ، وَلَكِنْ هَذَا عَمَلٌ لَمْ أَعْمَلْهُ قَطُّ ، وَإِنَّمَا حَمَلَنِي عَلَيْهِ الْحَاجَةُ ، قَالَ : فَتَفْعَلِينَ هَذَا وَلَمْ تَفْعَلِيهِ قَطُّ ؟ قَالَ : ثُمَّ نَزَلَ ، فَقَالَ : اذْهَبِي ، فَالدَّنَانِيرُ لَكِ ، ثُمَّ قَالَ : وَاللَّهِ لَا يَعْصِي اللَّهَ الْكِفْلُ أَبَدًا ، فَمَاتَ مِنْ لَيْلَتِهِ ، فَأَصْبَحَ مَكْتُوبًا عَلَى بَابِهِ قَدْ غَفَرَ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ لِلْكِفْلِ " .
Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates that if I had not heard this hadith from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) not once or twice, but seven times or even more, I would not have narrated it: Among the Children of Israel, there was a man named "Kifl" who did not refrain from any sin. Once, a woman came to him; he gave her sixty dinars on the condition that she would give herself to him. When he sat in the position with her in which a man sits with a woman, she began to tremble and weep. He asked, "Why are you crying? Have I forced you to do this?" She replied, "No, but I have never done this before; necessity has made me helpless to do this." Hearing this, Kifl said, "Are you doing this, even though you have never done it before?" Saying this, he withdrew and said to her, "Go, the dinars are also yours." And he said, "Now Kifl will never disobey Allah." That very night, he died. In the morning, it was written on his door: Allah Almighty has forgiven Kifl.
Hadith 4748
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عُبَيْدٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَاصِمٌ يَعْنِي ابْنَ مُحَمَّدٍ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " لَوْ يَعْلَمُ النَّاسُ مَا فِي الْوَحْدَةِ ، مَا سَارَ أَحَدٌ وَحْدَهُ بِلَيْلٍ أَبَدًا " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "If people knew the harm of traveling alone, then no one would travel alone at night."
Hadith 4749
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عُبَيْدٍ ، عَنْ يُوسُفَ بْنِ صُهَيْبٍ ، عَنْ زَيْدٍ الْعَمِّيِّ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " مَنْ أَرَادَ أَنْ تُسْتَجَابَ دَعْوَتُهُ ، وَأَنْ تُكْشَفَ كُرْبَتُهُ ، فَلْيُفَرِّجْ عَنْ مُعْسِرٍ " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever wishes that his supplications be accepted and his distress be removed, he should bring ease to the one in hardship."
Hadith 4750
(حديث موقوف) حَدَّثَنَا حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ فُضَيْلٍ ، عَنْ يَزِيدَ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ أَبِي لَيْلَى ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ أَنَّهُ " قَبَّلَ يَدَ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that I once had the opportunity to kiss the hands of the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him).
Hadith 4751
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ ، حَدَّثَنِي عِكْرِمَةُ بْنُ عَمَّارٍ ، عَنْ سَالِمٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ ، قَالَ : خَرَجَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مِنْ بَيْتِ عَائِشَةَ ، فَقَالَ : " رَأْسُ الْكُفْرِ مِنْ هَاهُنَا ، مِنْ حَيْثُ يَطْلُعُ قَرْنُ الشَّيْطَانِ " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that once the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) came out from the chamber of Sayyidah Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her). He (peace be upon him) pointed towards the east with his hand and said: "The trial will emerge from here, from where the horn of Satan will appear."
Hadith 4752
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ ، عَنِ الْعُمَرِيِّ ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ ، أَنّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ نَهَى عَنِ الْوِصَالِ فِي الصِّيَامِ ، فَقِيلَ لَهُ : إِنَّكَ تَفْعَلُهُ ؟ فَقَالَ : " إِنِّي لَسْتُ كَأَحَدِكُمْ ، إِنِّي أَظَلُّ يُطْعِمُنِي رَبِّي وَيَسْقِينِي " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) observed continuous fasting for several days in the month of Ramadan with only one pre-dawn meal (suhoor). The people also did the same. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade them from doing so. They said, "You are forbidding us from fasting continuously for several days, but you yourself are doing it?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "I am not like you; I am given food and drink by Allah."
Hadith 4753
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ ، عَنْ عَاصِمِ بْنِ الْمُنْذِرِ ، عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " إِذَا كَانَ الْمَاءُ قَدْرَ قُلَّتَيْنِ أَوْ ثَلَاثٍ لَمْ يُنَجِّسْهُ شَيْءٌ " ، قَالَ وَكِيعٌ : يَعْنِي بِالْقُلَّةِ الْجَرَّةَ .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "When water is equal to two or three pitchers, impurity does not permeate it."
Hadith 4754
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ ، عَنْ سُفْيَانَ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ دِينَارٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " تَجِيءُ الْفِتْنَةُ مِنْ هَاهُنَا ، مِنَ الْمَشْرِقِ " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that once the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) pointed with his hand towards the east and said: "The trial will emerge from here."
Hadith 4755
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو جَنَابٍ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ ، قَالَ : " كَانَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عِنْدَ هَذِهِ السَّارِيَةِ ، وَهِيَ يَوْمَئِذٍ جِذْعُ نَخْلَةٍ ، يَعْنِي يَخْطُبُ " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to deliver the sermon leaning against this pillar; at that time, it was a trunk of a date-palm.
Hadith 4756
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا قُدَامَةُ بْنُ مُوسَى ، عَنْ شَيْخٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " لَا صَلَاةَ بَعْدَ طُلُوعِ الْفَجْرِ إِلَّا رَكْعَتَيْنِ " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "After the true dawn has risen, there is no voluntary prayer except for the two Sunnah (units) of Fajr."
Hadith 4757
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ أَبِي ذِئْبٍ وَالْعُمَرِيُّ ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ ، أَنّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَانَ يُصَلِّي رَكْعَتَيْنِ بَعْدَ الْمَغْرِبِ فِي بَيْتِهِ " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to offer two rak‘ahs in his house after Maghrib.
Hadith 4758
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، عَنْ تَوْبَةَ العنبري عَنْ مُوَرِّقٍ الْعِجْلِيِّ ، قَالَ : قُلْتُ لِابْنِ عُمَرَ : " أَتُصَلِّي الضُّحَى ؟ قَالَ : لَا ، قُلْتُ صَلَّاهَا عُمَرُ ؟ قَالَ : لَا ، قُلْتُ : صَلَّاهَا أَبُو بَكْرٍ ؟ قَالَ : لَا ، قُلْتُ : أَصَلَّاهَا النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ؟ قَالَ : لَا إِخَالُهُ " .
Muraq ‘Ajli (may Allah have mercy on him) says: I once asked Sayyiduna Ibn ‘Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both), “Do you perform the Duha prayer?” He said, “No.” I asked, “Did Sayyiduna ‘Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) perform it?” He replied, “No.” I asked, “Did Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) perform it?” He replied, “No.” I asked, “Did the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) perform it?” He replied, “I do not think so (that he used to perform it).”
Hadith 4759
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا الْعُمَرِيُّ ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " مَثَلُ الْقُرْآنِ مَثَلُ الْإِبِلِ الْمُعَقَّلَةِ ، إِنْ تَعَاهَدَهَا صَاحِبُهَا أَمْسَكَهَا ، وَإِنْ تَرَكَهَا ذَهَبَتْ " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The example of the Qur'an is like that of a tied camel; if its owner keeps it tied, it remains under his control, but if he lets it loose, it runs away."
Hadith 4760
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ ، حَدَّثَنِي سَعِيدُ بْنُ السَّائِبِ ، عَنْ دَاوُدَ بْنِ أَبِي عَاصِمٍ الثَّقَفِيِّ ، قَالَ : سَأَلْتُ ابْنَ عُمَر عَنِ الصَّلَاةِ بِمِنًى ؟ فَقَالَ : هَلْ سَمِعْتَ بِمُحَمَّد صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ؟ قُلْتُ : نَعَمْ ، وَآمَنْتُ ، فاهتديت به ، قَالَ : فَإِنَّهُ كَانَ " يُصَلِّي بِمِنًى رَكْعَتَيْنِ " .
Dawud bin Abi Asim Thaqafi (may Allah have mercy on him) says: I asked Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) about the prayer in Mina. He replied: Have you heard the name of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him)? I said, Yes! I have believed in him and have come to the right path. Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) said: Then he used to pray two rak'ahs in Mina.
Hadith 4761
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا عِيسَى بْنُ حَفْصِ بْنِ عَاصِمٍ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، رَضِيَ اللَّهُ تَعَالَى عَنْهُمَا ، قَالَ : خَرَجْنَا مَعَ ابْنِ عُمَرَ ، فَصَلَّيْنَا الْفَرِيضَةَ ، فَرَأَى بَعْضَ وَلَدِهِ يَتَطَوَّعُ ، فَقَالَ ابْنُ عُمَرَ : " صَلَّيْتُ مَعَ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَأَبِي بَكْرٍ وَعُمَرَ وَعُثْمَانَ فِي السَّفَرِ ، فَلَمْ يُصَلُّوا قَبْلَهَا وَلَا بَعْدَهَا " ، قَالَ ابْنُ عُمَرَ : وَلَوْ تَطَوَّعْتُ ، لَأَتْمَمْت .
Hafs bin Asim says that once we set out on a journey with Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them). We performed the obligatory prayer, and during this time, Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them) saw one of his sons performing voluntary prayers. Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them) said: I have performed prayers with the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and with the three Caliphs during travel, but none of them would perform any prayer before or after the obligatory prayers. Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them) further said: If I were to perform voluntary prayers, then I would not have shortened my obligatory prayer (why would I shorten it?).
Hadith 4762
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا الْعُمَرِيُّ ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ . وَعَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ الْقَاسِمِ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ : أَنّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " أُلْحِدَ لَهُ لَحْدٌ " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) and Sayyidah Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that the blessed grave of the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was made with a side niche.
Hadith 4763
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا إِسْرَائِيلُ ، عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ ، عَنْ مُجَاهِدٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ ، أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " قَرَأَ فِي الرَّكْعَتَيْنِ قَبْلَ الْفَجْرِ وَالرَّكْعَتَيْنِ بَعْدَ الْمَغْرِبِ ، بِضْعًا وَعِشْرِينَ مَرَّةً ، أَوْ بِضْعَ عَشْرَةَ مَرَّةً قُلْ يَا أَيُّهَا الْكَافِرُونَ وَ قُلْ هُوَ اللَّهُ أَحَدٌ " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) must have recited Surah Al-Kafiroon and Surah Al-Ikhlas dozens or tens of times in the Sunnah prayers before Fajr and the two Sunnah after Maghrib.
Hadith 4764
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ ، عَنْ سُفْيَانَ ، عَنْ لَيْثٍ ، عَنْ مُجَاهِدٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ ، قَالَ : أَخَذَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِبَعْضِ جَسَدِي ، فَقَالَ : يَا عَبْدَ اللَّهِ ، " كُنْ فِي الدُّنْيَا كَأَنَّكَ غَرِيبٌ أَوْ عَابِرُ سَبِيلٍ ، وَاعْدُدْ نَفْسَكَ فِي الْمَوْتَى " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) once held a part of my body and said: "O Abdullah! Live in this world as if you are a traveler or a passerby, and count yourself among the dead."
Hadith 4765
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ ، حَدَّثَنِي عِمْرَانُ بْنُ حُدَيْرٍ ، عَنْ يَزِيدَ بْنِ عُطَارِدٍ أَبِي الْبَزَرَى السَّدُوسِيِّ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ ، قَالَ : كُنَّا " نَشْرَبُ وَنَحْنُ قِيَامٌ ، وَنَأْكُلُ وَنَحْنُ نَسْعَى ، عَلَى عَهْدِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that during the blessed era of the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him), we used to drink water while standing and eat food while walking (because, due to the preoccupation with jihad, where was there time for eating and drinking?).
Hadith 4766
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ دِينَارٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " مَفَاتِيحُ الْغَيْبِ خَمْسٌ ، لَا يَعْلَمُهَا إِلَّا اللَّهُ ، إِنَّ اللَّهَ عِنْدَهُ عِلْمُ السَّاعَةِ وَيُنَزِّلُ الْغَيْثَ وَيَعْلَمُ مَا فِي الأَرْحَامِ وَمَا تَدْرِي نَفْسٌ مَاذَا تَكْسِبُ غَدًا وَمَا تَدْرِي نَفْسٌ بِأَيِّ أَرْضٍ تَمُوتُ إِنَّ اللَّهَ عَلِيمٌ خَبِيرٌ سورة لقمان آية 34 .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "There are five matters of the unseen which none knows except Allah. (Then he recited this verse:) Surely, the knowledge of the Hour is with Allah alone, He sends down the rain, He knows what is in the wombs, no person knows what he will earn tomorrow, and no person knows in which land he will die. Surely, Allah is All-Knowing, All-Aware."
Hadith 4767
(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ ، حَدَّثَنِي عُيَيْنَةُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ ، عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ زَيْدِ بْنِ جُدْعَانَ ، حَدَّثَنِي سَالِمٌ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، أَنّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ : " إِنَّمَا يَلْبَسُ الْحَرِيرَ مَنْ لَا خَلَاقَ لَهُ " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Silk clothing is worn by the one who has no share in the Hereafter."
