حَدَّثَنَا بَكْرُ بْنُ سَهْلٍ الدِّمْيَاطِيُّ، ثنا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ صَالِحٍ، حَدَّثنَيِ اللَّيْثُ، ح، وَحَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ مُعَاوِيَةَ الْعُتْبِيُّ، ثنا يَحْيَى بْنُ بُكَيْرٍ، ثنا اللَّيْثُ، عَنْ خَالِدِ بْنِ يَزِيدَ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ أَبِي هِلَالٍ، عَنِ الْقُرَظِيِّ يَعْنِي مُحَمَّدَ بْنَ كَعْبٍ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ، قَالَ: أَتَى أًبُو طَلْحَةَ أُمَّ سُلَيْمٍ وَهِيَ أُمُّ أَنَسٍ، وَأَبُو طَلْحَةَ رَابُّهُ، فَقَالَ: " عَنْدَكِ يَا أُمَّ سُلَيْمٍ شَيْءٌ؟ فِإِنِّي مَرَرْتُ عَلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَهُوَ يُقِرئُ أَصْحَابَ الصُّفَّةِ سُورَةَ النِّسَاءِ، وَقَدَ رَبَطَ عَلَى بَطْنِهِ حَجَرًا مِنَ الْجُوعِ، فَقَالَتْ: كَانَ عِنْدِي شَيْءٌ مِنْ شَعِيرٍ طَحَنْتُهُ، ثُمَّ أَرْسَلَتْنِي إِلَى الْأَسْوَاقِ، وَالْأَسْوَاقُ حَوَائِطُ لَهُمْ، فَأَتَيْتُهُمْ بِشَيْءٍ مِنْ حَطَبٍ، فَجَعَلَتْ مِنْهُ قُرْصًا، ثُمَّ قَالَ: أَعِنْدَكِ أُدْمٌ، فَقَالَتْ قَدْ كَانَ عِنْدِي نِحْيُّ فِيهِ سَمْنٌ فَلَا أَدْرِي أَبَقِي فِيهِ شَيْءٌ فَأَتَتْهُ بِهِ فَعَصَرَهُ، فَقَالَ: إِنَّ عَصْرَ اثْنَيْنِ أَبْلَغُ مِنْ عَصْرِ وَاحِدٍ فَعَصَرَاهُ جَمِيعًا فَأَخْرَجَا مِثْلَ التَّمْرَةِ، فَدَهَنَتِ الْقُرْصَ، ثُمَّ دَعَانِي، فَقَالَ: يَا أَنَسُ، تَعْرِفُ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ؟ قُلْتُ: نَعَمْ، قَالَ: إِنِّي تَرَكْتُهُ مَعَ أَصْحَابِهِ فِي الصُّفَّةِ يُقْرِئُهُمْ، فَادْعُهُ وَلَا تَدَعْ مَعَهُ غَيْرَهَ، انْظُرْ أَلَّا تَفْضَحَنِي، فَأَتَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَلَمَّا رَآنِي قَالَ: «لَعَلَّ أَبَاكَ أَرْسَلَكَ إِلَيْنَا؟» قُلْتُ: نَعَمْ، ثُمَّ قَالَ لِلْقَوْمِ: " انْطَلِقُوا فَانْطَلَقُوا، وُهُمْ يَوْمَئِذٍ ثَمَانُونَ رَجُلًا فَأَمْسَكَ يَدِي فَلَمَّا دَنَوْتُ مِنَ الدَّارِ نَزَعْتُ يَدَهُ مِنْ يَدِي، فَجَعَلَ أَبُو طَلْحَةَ يَطْلُبُنِي فِي الدَّارِ وَيَرْمِينِي بِالْحِجَارَةِ، وَيَقُولُ: فَضَحْتَنِي عِنْدَ رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، ثُمَّ إِنَّهُ خَرَجَ إِلَيْهِ فَأَخْبَرَهُ الْخَبَرَ، فَقَالَ: «لَا يَضُرُّكَ» فَأَمَرَهُمْ فَجَلَسُوا، ثُمَّ دَخَلَ فَأَتَيْنَاهُ بِالْقُرْصِ فَقَالَ: هَلْ مِنْ أُدْمٍ؟ " فَقَالَتْ أُمُّ سُلَيْمٍ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ قَدْ كَانَ عِنْدَنَا نِحْيٌ وَقَدْ عَصَرْتُهُ أَنَا وَأَبُو طَلْحَةَ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «هَلُمُّوهُ، فَإِنَّ عَصْرَ الثَّلَاثَةِ أَبْلَغُ مِنْ عَصْرِ الْاثْنَيْنِ» ، فَأُتِيَ بِهِ فَعَصَرَهُ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، فَأَخْرَجُوا مِنْهُ مِثْلَ التَّمْرَةِ فَمَسَحُوا بِهِ الْقُرْصَ فَمَسَحَهُ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِيَدِهِ، ثُمَّ دَعَا فِيهِ باِلْبَرَكَةِ ثُمَّ قَالَ: «ادْعُوا لِي عَشْرَةً» فَدَعَوْتُ عَشْرَةً، فَأَكَلُوا مِنْهُ حَتَّى ثَمِلُوا شِبِعًا، فَمَا زَالُوا يَدْخُلُونَ عَشْرَةً عَشْرَةً حَتَّى شَبِعُوا ثُمَّ جَلَسَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَجَلَسَنْاَ مَعَهُ فَأَكَلْنَا حَتَّى فَضَلَ
Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) said: Abu Talhah (may Allah be pleased with him) came to Umm Sulaym (may Allah be pleased with her) (she was his, Anas's, mother, and Abu Talhah was his stepfather) and said: "O Umm Sulaym! Do you have anything? For I passed by the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) while he (peace and blessings be upon him) was teaching the people of the Suffah Surah al-Nisa', and he had tied a stone over his stomach because of hunger." She said: "I had some barley which I had ground." Then she sent me to the orchards (by "aswaq" their orchards are meant), and I brought them some firewood, and she made a loaf of bread from it. Then Abu Talhah said: "Do you have any condiment?" She said: "I had a skin of ghee; I do not know whether anything is left in it." She brought it, and Abu Talhah squeezed it. He said: "The squeezing of two is more effective than the squeezing of one." So the two of them squeezed it together and got out of it ghee the size of a date, which they spread on the bread. Then he called me and said: "O Anas! Do you know the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)?" I said: "Yes." He said: "I left him (peace and blessings be upon him) with his companions in the Suffah; he is teaching them the Qur'an. So invite him, and do not bring anyone else with him. Take care that you do not disgrace me." So I went to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), and when he (peace and blessings be upon him) saw me, he said: "Perhaps your father has sent you to us?" I said: "Yes." Then he (peace and blessings be upon him) said to the people: "Let us go." So they all set off, and on that day they were eighty men. He (peace and blessings be upon him) held my hand, and when I came near the house, I pulled my hand free from his (peace and blessings be upon him) hand. Abu Talhah (may Allah be pleased with him) began looking for me in the house and throwing stones at me, saying: "You have disgraced me before the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)." Then he went out to him (peace and blessings be upon him) and told him the whole matter. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "No harm will come to you." Then he (peace and blessings be upon him) had the people sit down, and he himself went inside. We brought the bread to him (peace and blessings be upon him), and he (peace and blessings be upon him) asked: "Is there any condiment?" Umm Sulaym (may Allah be pleased with her) said: "O Messenger of Allah! We had a skin of ghee, which Abu Talhah and I have already squeezed." The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Bring it, for the squeezing of three is more effective than the squeezing of two." So it was brought, and the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) squeezed it himself, and ghee the size of a date came out of it, which they rubbed on the bread; the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) passed his hand over it, then supplicated for blessing in it. Then he said: "Call ten men for me." So I called ten men, and they ate from it until they were full. In this way they kept coming in ten at a time until all of them were full. Then the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) sat down, and we sat with him (peace and blessings be upon him) and ate as well, until food was left over.
حَدَّثَنَا بَكْرُ بْنُ سَهْلٍ الدِّمْيَاطِيُّ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللهِ بُْن يُوسُفَ، أنا مَالِكُ بْنُ أَنَسٍ، عَنْ إِسْحَاقَ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ أَبِي طَلْحَةَ، أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ أَنَسَ بْنَ مَالِكٍ، يَقُولُ: قَالَ أَبُو طَلْحَةَ لِأُمِّ سُلَيْمٍ: لَقَدْ سَمِعْتُ كَلَامَ رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَعْرِفُ فِيهِ الْجُوعَ، فَهَلْ عِنْدَكِ شَْيءٌ؟ قَالَتْ: نَعَمْ، فَأَخْرَجَتْ أَقْرَاصًا مِنْ شَعِيرٍ، ثُمَّ أَخْرَجَتْ خِمَارًا لَهُمْ فَلَفَّتِ الْخُبْزَ بَعْضَهَ بِبَعْضٍ، ثُمَّ أَرْسَلَتْنِي إِلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، فَذَهَبْتُ فَوَجَدْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي الْمَسْجِدِ وَمَعَهُ النَّاسُ، فَقَالَ لِي رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «أَرْسَلَكَ أَبُو طَلْحَةَ؟» فَقُلْتُ: نَعَمْ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لِمَنْ مَعَهُ: «قُومُوا» فَانْطَلَقَ وَانْطَلَقْتُ بَيْنَ أَيدِيهِمْ حَتَّى جِْئتُ أَبَا طَلْحَةَ فَأَخْبَرْتُهُ، فَقَالَ أَبُو طَلْحَةَ: يَا أُمَّ سُلَيْمٍ، قَدْ جَاءَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِالنَّاِس، وَلَيْسَ عِنْدَنَا مِنَ الطَّعَامِ مَا يُشْبِعُهُمْ، قَالَتْ: اللهُ وَرَسُولُهُ أَعْلَمُ، فَانْطَلَقَ أَبُو طَلْحَةَ حَتَّى بَلَغْنَا رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، فَأَقْبَلَ رَسُولُ اللهِ وَأَبُو طَلْحَةَ مَعَهُ حَتَّى دَخَلَا، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «هَلُمِّي يَا أُمَّ سُلَيْمٍ مَا عِنْدَكِ» فَأَتَتْ بِذَلِكَ الْخُبْزِ فَأَمَرَ بِهِ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَفُتَّ، وَعَصَرَتْ أُمُّ سُلَيْمٍ عُكَّةً فَآدَمَتْهُ ثُمَّ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِيهِ مَا شَاءَ اللهُ أَنْ يَقُولَ، ثُمَّ قَالَ: «ائْذَنْ لِعَشْرَةٍ» فَأَذِنَ لَهُمْ فَأَكَلُوا حَتَّى شَبِعُوا ثُمَّ خَرَجُوا، ثُمَّ قَالَ: «ائْذَنْ لِعَشْرَةٍ» فَأَذِنَ لَهُمْ فَأَكَلُوا حَتَّى شَبِعُوا، ثُمَّ خَرَجُوا ثُمَّ قَالَ: «ائْذَنْ لِعَشْرَةٍ» فَأَذِنَ لَهُمْ فَأَكَلُوا حَتَّى شَبِعُوا ثُمَّ خَرَجُوا، ثُمَّ قَالَ: «ائْذَنْ لِعَشْرَةٍ» فَأَذِنَ لَهُمْ فَأَكَلُوا حَتَّى شَبِعُوا، ثُمَّ خَرَجُوا، ثَمَّ قَالَ: «ائْذَنْ لِعَشْرَةٍ» فَأَكَلَ الْقَوْمُ كُلُّهُمْ حَتَّى شَبِعُوا وَالْقَوْمُ سَبْعُونُ أَوْ ثَمَانُونَ
Ishaq bin Abdullah bin Abi Talhah (may Allah have mercy on him) said that he heard Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) say: Abu Talhah (may Allah be pleased with him) said to Umm Sulaym (may Allah be pleased with her): "I have sensed hunger in the voice of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him); do you have anything?" She said: "Yes." So she took out some loaves of barley bread, then took out a head-covering of hers and wrapped the bread in it, then she sent me to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). I went and found the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) in the mosque, and there were people with him (peace and blessings be upon him). The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) asked me: "Has Abu Talhah sent you?" I said: "Yes." So the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said to his companions: "Get up." So they all set off, and I walked ahead of them until I reached Abu Talhah and told him. Abu Talhah said: "O Umm Sulaym! The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) has come with the people, and we do not have enough food to fill them." She said: "Allah and His Messenger know best." So Abu Talhah set off until he reached the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him); then the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) and Abu Talhah came in together. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "O Umm Sulaym! Bring whatever you have." So she brought that same bread; the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) gave the order and it was broken into pieces, and Umm Sulaym (may Allah be pleased with her) squeezed a skin and put condiment on it. Then the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said over it what Allah willed (in supplication), then he said: "Let ten come in." So they were let in, and they ate until they were full and went out. Then he said: "Let ten come in." They were let in; they too ate until they were full and went out. Then he said: "Let ten come in." They were let in; they ate until they were full and went out. Then he said: "Let ten come in." They were let in; they ate until they were full and went out. Then he said: "Let ten come in." Until all the people had eaten and were full, and the people were seventy or eighty.
حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ الْمُبَارَكِ الصَّنْعَانِيُّ، ثنا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ أَبي أُوَيْسٍ، ح وَحَدَّثَنَا مُوسَى بْنُ هَارُونَ، ثنا قُتَيْبَةُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ، قَالَا: ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مُوسَى الْفِطْرِيُّ، عَنْ إِسْحَاقَ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ أَبِي طَلْحَةَ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ، قَالَ: قَالَ أَبُو طَلْحَةَ: " يَا أُمَّ سُلَيْمٍ، اصْنَعِي شَيْئًا لِرَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، فَطَحَنَتْ شَيْئًا مِنْ شَعِيرٍ فَصَنَعَتْهُ، ثُمَّ دَعَانِي أَبُو طَلْحَةَ، فَقَالَ: اذْهَبْ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقُلْ: إِنَّ أَبِي يَدْعُوكَ، وَأَسِرَّهُ، قَالَ أَنَسٌ: فَأَقْبَلْتُ وَرَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ جَالِسٌ فِي الْمَسْجِدِ، فَلَمَّا رَآنِي قَالَ: «يَا أَنَسُ» قُلْتُ: لَبَّيْكَ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، قَالَ: «دَعَانِي أَبُوكَ؟» قُلْتُ: نَعَمْ، قَالَ: «قُومُوا» ثُمَّ قَالَ: لَمْ يَمُرَّ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَلَى مَجْلِسٍ إِلَّا قَالَ: «قُومُوا» فَخَرَجْتُ سَرِيعًا حَتَّى أَتَيْتُ أَبَا طَلْحَةَ فَقُلْتُ: هَذَا رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَدْ جَاءَ وَأَتَى بِالنَّاسِ، فَقَالَ أَبُو طَلْحَةَ: أَلَمْ آمُرْكَ أَنْ تَخْلُوَ بِهِ؟ قُلْتُ: لَمَّا سَأَلَنِي هَلْ دَعَانِي أَبُوكَ؟ فَقُلْتُ: نَعَمْ لَمْ أَكْذِبْهُ، وَلَقِيَ أَبُو طَلْحَةَ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَلَى بَابِ الدَّارِ فَقَالَ: يَا رَسُولَ اللِّهِ، إِنَّمَا هُوَ شَيْءٌ أَرَدْنَا أَنْ نَخُصَّكَ بِهِ فَقَالَ: «ادْخُلْ» فَدَخَلَ هُوَ وَرَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، قَالَ: وَأُمُّ سُلَيْمٌ مَعَهَا عُكَّةٌ تَعْصُرُهَا وَكَانَتْ يَبِسَتْ أَوْ كَادَتْ تَيْبَسُ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «يَا أُمَّ سُلَيْمٍ نَاوِلِنِيهَا حَتَّى أَكُونَ أَحْسَنَ لَهَا عَصْرًا مِنْكِ» فَأَخَذَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِيَدِهِ فَقَالَ بِالسَّمْنِ هَكَذَا، ثُمَّ وَضَعَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَدَهُ عَلَى رَأْسِ الثَّرِيدِ، ثُمَّ قَالَ: «يَا أَبَا طَلْحَةَ، أَدْخِلْ عَشْرَةً» ، فَدَخَلَ عَلَيْهِ عَشْرَةٌ فَأَكَلُوا حَتَّى شَبِعُوا ثُمَّ لَمْ يَزَلْ يُدْخِلُ عَشْرَةً عَشْرَةً فَأَكَلُوا حَتَّى ثَمِلُوا، حَتَّى دَخَلَ عَلَيْهِ مَا بَيْنَ السَّبْعِينَ إِلَّى الثَّمَانِينَ، ثُمَّ أًَكَلَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَأَهْلُ الْبَيْتِ وَأَفْضَلُوا مَا أَهْدَوْا لِجِيرَانِهِمْ
Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) said: Abu Talhah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "O Umm Sulaym! Prepare something for the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)." So she ground some barley and prepared it. Then Abu Talhah called me and said: "Go to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) and say: 'My father is inviting you,' and keep this a secret." Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) said: I went, and the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) was sitting in the mosque. When he (peace and blessings be upon him) saw me, he said: "O Anas!" I said: "Labbayk (at your service), O Messenger of Allah." He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Has your father invited me?" I said: "Yes." He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Get up." The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) did not pass by any gathering without saying: "Get up." I went out quickly until I reached Abu Talhah and said: "Here is the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) coming, and he has brought the people with him." Abu Talhah said: "Did I not tell you to invite him alone?" I said: "When he (peace and blessings be upon him) asked me whether your father had invited him, I said yes; I did not lie to him (peace and blessings be upon him)." Abu Talhah (may Allah be pleased with him) met the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) at the door and said: "O Messenger of Allah! It is only a small thing that we prepared especially for you." He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Go inside." So he and the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) went in. Umm Sulaym (may Allah be pleased with her) had a skin which she was squeezing, and it had dried up or was about to dry up. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "O Umm Sulaym! Give it to me so that I may squeeze it better than you." The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) took hold of it with his hand and drew out the ghee like this, then the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) placed his hand on top of the tharid, then said: "O Abu Talhah! Bring in ten men." So ten men came in, and they ate until they were full. Then he kept bringing them in ten at a time, and they kept eating until they were full, until between seventy and eighty people had come in. Then the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) and the household ate, and what was left over they gave as a gift to their neighbours.
حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ الْحَسَنِ الْخَفَّافُ الْمِصْرِيُّ، ثنا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ صَالِحٍ، ثنا ابْنُ وَهْبٍ، أنا أُسَامَةُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ، أَنَّ عَمْرَو بْنَ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ أَبِي طَلْحَةَ، حَدَّثَهُ أَنَّهُ، سَمِعَ أَنَسَ بْنَ مَالِكٍ، يَقُولُ: جِئْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَوْمًا، فَوَجَدْتُهُ جَالِسًا مَعَ أَصْحَابِهِ يُحَدِّثُهُمْ وَقَدْ عَصَبَ بَطْنَهُ عَلَى حَجَرٍ، فَقُلْتُ لِبَعْضِ أَصْحَابِهِ لِمَ عَصَبَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بَطْنَهُ؟ فَقَالَ: مِنَ الْجُوعِ، فَذَهَبْتُ إِلَى أَبِي طَلْحَةَ وَهُوَ زَوْجُ أُمِّ سُلَيْمٍ بِنْتِ مِلْحَانَ فَقُلْتُ: يَا أَبَتَاهُ قَدْ رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَدْ عَصَبَ بَطْنَهُ بِعِصَابَةٍ فَسَأَلْتُ بَعْضَ أَصْحَابِهِ، فَقَالَ: مِنَ الْجُوعِ، فَدَخَلَ أَبُو طَلْحَةَ عَلَى أُمِّي، فَقَالَ: هَلْ مِنْ شَيْءٍ؟ فَقَالَتْ: عِنْدِي كِسَرٌ مِنْ خُبْزٍ وَتَمَرَاتٌ فَإِنْ جَاءَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَشْبَعْنَاهُ، وَإِنْ جَاءَ مَعَهُ أَحَدٌ قَلَّ عَنْهُمْ، فَقَالَ أَبُو طَلْحَةَ: اذْهَبْ يَا أَنَسُ فَقُمْ قَرِيبًا مِنْ رَسُولِ اللهِ، فَإِذَا قَامَ فَادْعُهُ حَتَّى يَتَفَرَّقَ أَصْحَابُهُ وَمَنْ مَعَهُ حَتَّى إِذَا قَامَ عَلَى عَتَبَةِ بَابِهِ، فَقُلْ: أَبِي يَدْعُوكَ فَفَعَلْتُ ذَلِكَ، فَلَمَّا قُلْتُ أَبِي يَدْعُوكَ قَالَ لِأَصْحَابِهِ: يَا هَؤُلَاءِ تَعَالَوْا ثُمَّ أَخَذَ بِيَدِي فَشَدَّهَا وَأَقْبَلَ بِأَصْحَابِهِ حَتَّى إِذَا دَنَوْا مِنْ بَيْتِنَا أَرْسَلَ يَدِي، فَدَخَلْتُ وَأَنَا حَزِينٌ لِكَثْرَةِ مَنْ جَاءَ مَعَهُ، فَقُلْتُ: يَا أَبَتَاهُ قَدْ قُلْتُ لِرَسُولِ اللهِ الَّذِي قُلْتَ لِي فَدَعَا أَصْحَابَهُ فَقَدْ جَاءَكَ بِهِمْ فَخَرَجَ أَبُو طَلْحَةَ إِلَيْهِمْ، فَقَالَ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ إِنَّمَا أَرْسَلْتُ أَنَسًا يَدْعُوكَ وَحْدَكَ وَلَمْ يَكُ عِنْدِي مَا يُشْبِعُ مَنْ أَرَى، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «ادْخُلْ فَإِنَّ اللهَ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ سَيُشْبِعُهُمْ بِمَا عِنْدَكَ» ، فَدَخَلَ مَعِي رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، فَقَالَ: «اجْمَعُوا مَا كَانَ عِنْدَكُمْ، ثُمَّ قَرِّبُوهُ» ، وَجَلَسَ مَنْ كَانَ عِنْدَهُ بِالسُّدَّةِ، وَقَرَّبْتُ مَا كَانَ عِنْدَنَا مِنْ خُبْزٍ وَتَمْرٍ، فَجَعَلْنَاهُ عَلَى حَصِيرِنَا فَدَعَا فِيهِ بِالْبَرَكَةِ، ثُمَّ قَالَ: «أَدْخِلْ عَلَيَّ ثَمَانِيَةً» ، فَأَدْخَلْتُ عَلَيْهِ ثَمَانِيَةً وَجَعَلَ كَفَّهُ فَوْقَ الطَّعَامِ، فَقَالَ: «كُلُوا وَسَمُّوا اللهَ» ، فَأَكَلُوا مِنْ بَيْنِ أَصَابِعِهِ حَتَّى شَبِعُوا ثُمَّ أَمَرَنِي فَأَدْخَلْتُ ثَمَانِيَةً، وَقَامَ الْأَوَّلُونَ فَفَعَلْتُ، فَدَخَلُوا فَأَكَلُوا حَتَّى شَبِعُوا، ثُمَّ أَمَرَنِي فَأَدْخَلْتُ ثَمَانِيَةً، فَمَا زَالَ عَلَى ذَلِكَ حَتَّى دَخَلَ ثَمَانُونَ رَجُلًا كُلُّهُمْ يَأْكُلُ حَتَّى يَشْبَعَ، ثُمَّ دَعَانِي وَدَعَا أُمِّي وَأَبَا طَلْحَةَ فَقَالَ: «كُلُوا» ، فَأَكَلْنَا حَتَّى شَبِعْنَا ثُمَّ رَفَعَ يَدَهُ فَقَالَ: «يَا أُمَّ سُلَيْمٍ أَيْنَ هَذَا مِنْ طَعَامِكِ حِينَ قَدَّمْتِيهِ» قَالَتْ: بِأَبِي أَنْتَ وَأُمِّي، لَوْلَا أَنِّي رَأَيْتُهُمْ يَأْكُلُونَ لَقُلْتُ: مَا نَقَصَ مِنْ طَعَامِنَا شَيْءٌ "
Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) said: One day I came to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) and found him (peace and blessings be upon him) sitting with his companions, talking to them, and he (peace and blessings be upon him) had tied a stone over his stomach. I asked some of his (peace and blessings be upon him) companions: "Why has the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) tied a stone over his stomach?" They said: "Because of hunger." So I went to Abu Talhah (he was the husband of Umm Sulaym bint Milhan) and said: "Father! I have seen the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) with a band tied over his stomach; I asked some of his (peace and blessings be upon him) companions, and they said: 'Because of hunger.'" So Abu Talhah went to my mother and said: "Is there anything?" She said: "I have some pieces of bread and some dates. If the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) comes alone, we will fill him, and if anyone comes with him, it will be too little for them." Abu Talhah said: "O Anas! Go and stand near the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him); then when he (peace and blessings be upon him) gets up, invite him (peace and blessings be upon him), once his (peace and blessings be upon him) companions and the people with him (peace and blessings be upon him) have dispersed, and when he (peace and blessings be upon him) is standing at the threshold of his door, say: 'My father is inviting you.'" I did so. When I said: "My father is inviting you," he (peace and blessings be upon him) said to his companions: O people, come! Then he (peace and blessings be upon him) took my hand and held it firmly, and set off with his companions, until, when they came near our house, he (peace and blessings be upon him) let go of my hand. I went in, and I was saddened by the large number of people who had come with him (peace and blessings be upon him). I said: "Father! I said to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) what you told me to say, and he (peace and blessings be upon him) called his companions and has brought them to you." So Abu Talhah went out to them and said: "O Messenger of Allah! I only sent Anas to invite you alone, and I do not have enough to fill all those I see." The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Go inside, for Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, will soon fill them with what you have." So the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) went inside with me and said: "Gather whatever you have, then bring it forward." Those who were outside sat at the threshold, and I brought forward whatever bread and dates we had, and we put it on our mat, and he (peace and blessings be upon him) supplicated for blessing in it. Then he said: "Bring eight men in to me." I brought eight men in; he (peace and blessings be upon him) placed his palm over the food and said: "Eat, and mention the name of Allah." So they ate from between his (peace and blessings be upon him) fingers until they were full. Then he ordered me, and I brought in eight more, and the first ones got up. I kept doing this; they would come in, eat until they were full and leave, until eighty men had come in, every one of whom ate until he was full. Then he (peace and blessings be upon him) called me, my mother and Abu Talhah and said: "Eat." So we ate until we were full. Then he (peace and blessings be upon him) lifted his hand and said: "O Umm Sulaym! How does this compare with your food when you presented it?" She said: "May my father and mother be ransomed for you! Had I not seen them eating, I would have said that nothing at all had decreased from our food."
حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ، ثنا الْقَعْنَبِيُّ، ح وَحَدَّثَنَا أَبُو خَلِيفَةَ، ثنا عَلِيُّ بْنُ الْمَدِينِيِّ، قَالَا: ثنا عَبْدُ الْعَزِيزِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الدَّرَاوَرْدِيُّ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ يَحْيَى بْنِ عُمَارَةَ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ، وَكَانَتْ أُمُّ سُلَيْمٍ بِنْتُ مِلْحَانَ، تَحْتَ أَبِي طَلْحَةَ، فَصَنَعَتْ خَزِيرًا، ثُمَّ قَالَ لِي أَبُو طَلْحَةَ: اذْهَبْ يَا بُنَيَّ فَادْعُ رَسُولَ اللهِ، فَذَهَبْتُ فَدَعَوْتُهُ فَجِئْتُهُ وَهُوَ بَيْنَ ظَهْرَانَيِ النَّاسِ، فَقُلْتُ: إِنَّ أَبِي يَدْعُوكَ. فَقَالَ لِلنَّاسِ: انْطَلِقُوا فَلَمَّا رَأَيْتُهُ قَالَ لِلنَّاسِ تَقَدَّمْتُ بَيْنَ أَيْدِيهِمْ حَتَّى جِئْتُ أَبَا طَلْحَةَ، فَقُلْتُ: يَا أَبَةُ هَذَا رَسُولُ اللهِ مَعَهُ النَّاسُ، فَقَامَ أَبُو طَلْحَةَ عَلَى الْبَابِ حَتَّى أَتَى رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، فَقَالَ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ إِنَّمَا كَانَ شَيْئًا يَسِيرًا، قَالَ: «هَلُمَّهْ، فَإِنَّ اللهَ سَيَجْعَلُ فِيهِ بَرَكَةً، فَجَاءَ بِهِ فَجَعَلَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَدَيْهِ فِيهِ، وَدَعَا فِيهِ حَتَّى أَكَلَ مِنْهُ ثَمَانُونَ رَجُلًا»
Amr bin Yahya bin Umarah narrates through his father from Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) (and Umm Sulaym bint Milhan (may Allah be pleased with her) was married to Abu Talhah (may Allah be pleased with him)): She prepared khazirah (a gruel), then Abu Talhah said to me: "My son! Go and invite the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)." So I went and invited him (peace and blessings be upon him); I came to him (peace and blessings be upon him) while he (peace and blessings be upon him) was among the people, and I said: "My father is inviting you." He (peace and blessings be upon him) said to the people: "Let us go." When I saw that he (peace and blessings be upon him) had said this to the people, I went ahead of them until I reached Abu Talhah and said: "Father! Here is the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), and the people are with him." So Abu Talhah stood at the door until the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) arrived, and he said: "O Messenger of Allah! It was only a small thing." He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Bring it, for Allah will soon place blessing in it." So he brought it, and the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) put both his hands in it and supplicated over it, until eighty men ate from it.
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَضْرَمِيُّ، وَجَعْفَرُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الْفِرْيَابِيُّ، قَالَا: ثنا هُدْبَةُ بْنُ خَالِدٍ، ثنا مُبَارَكُ بْنُ فَضَالَةَ، ثنا بَكْرُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ الْمُزَنِيُّ، وَثَابِتٌ الْبُنَانِيُّ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ، أَنَّ أَبَا طَلْحَةَ، لَمَّا رَأَى رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ طَاوِيًا، جَاءَ إِلَى أُمِّ سُلَيْمٍ فَقَالَ: إِنِّي رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ طَاوِيًا فَهَلْ عِنْدَكِ شَيْءٌ؟ قَالَتْ: عِنْدَنَا نَحْوُ مُدَّيْنِ مِنْ دَقِيقِ شَعِيرٍ، قَالَ: فَاعْجِنِيهِ وَاطْبُخِيهِ عَسَى أَنْ نَدْعُوَ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَأْكُلُ مِنْهُ فَعَجَنْتَهُ وَخَبَزَتْهُ وَجَاءَ قُرْصٌ فَقَالَ لِي ادْعُ رَسُولَ اللهِ، فَأَتَيْتُ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَمَعَهُ أُنَاسٌ أَحْسِبُهُ، قَالَ: بَضْعَةً وَثَمَانِينَ فَقُلْتُ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، أَبُو طَلْحَةَ يَدْعُوكَ فَقَالَ لِأَصْحَابِهِ: أَجِيبُوا أَبَا طَلْحَةَ فَجِئْتُ مُسْرِعًا حَتَّى أَخْبَرْتُهُ أَنَّهُ قَدْ جَاءَ هُوَ وَأَصْحَابُهُ، فَقَالَ: وَاللهِ لَرَسُولُ اللهِ أَعْلَمُ بِمَا فِي بَيْتِي مِنِّي فَاسْتَقْبَلَهُ أَبُو طَلْحَةَ فَقَالَ: وَاللهِ مَا عِنْدَنَا إِلَّا قُرْصٌ رَأَيْتُكَ طَاوِيًا، فَأَمَرْتُ أُمَّ سُلَيْمٍ، فَجَعَلَتْ لَكَ قُرْصًا فَدَعَا بِالْقُرْصِ، وَدَعَا بِجَفْنَةٍ، فَوَضَعَهُ فِيهَا وَقَالَ: هَلْ مِنْ سَمْنٍ؟ فَقَالَ: أَبُو طَلْحَةَ قَدْ كَانَ فِي الْعُكَّةِ شَيْءٌ قَالَ: فَجَاءَ بِهَا فَجَعَلَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَأَبُو طَلْحَةَ يَعْصِرَانِهَا حَتَّى خَرَجَ شَيْءٌ فَمَسَحَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِهِ سَبَّابَتَهُ، ثُمَّ مَسَحَ بِالْقُرْصِ، ثُمَّ قَالَ: " بِسْمِ اللهِ فَانْتَفَخَ الْقُرْصُ فَلَمْ يَزَلْ يَصْنَعُ ذَلِكَ وَالْقُرْصُ يَنْتَفِخُ حَتَّى رَأَيْتُ الْقُرْصَ فِي الْجَفْنَةِ يَتَمَيَّعُ فَقَالَ: ادْعُ لِي عَشَرَةً مِنْ أَصْحَابِي فَدَعَوْتُ لَهُ عَشَرَةً، فَوَضَعَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ الْقُرْصَ وَقَالَ: كُلُوا بِسْمِ اللهِ فَأَكَلُوا مِنْ حَوَالِيِّ الْقُرْصِ حَتَّى شَبِعُوا، فَلَمْ يَزَلْ يَدْعُو عَشَرَةً عَشَرَةً يَأْكُلُونَ ذَلِكَ الْقُرْصَ حَتَّى أَكَلَ مِنْهُ بِضْعٌ وَثَمَانُونَ رَجُلًا مِنْ حَوَالَيِّ الْقُرْصِ حَتَّى شَبِعُوا قَالَ: وَإِنَّ وَسَطَ الْقُرْصِ حَيْثُ وَضَعَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَدَهُ كَمَا هُوَ
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) that when Abu Talhah (may Allah be pleased with him) saw the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) in a state of hunger, he came to Umm Sulaym (may Allah be pleased with her) and said: "I have seen the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) in a state of hunger; do you have anything?" She said: "We have about two mudd of barley flour." He said: "Knead it and cook it; perhaps we can invite the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) so that he may eat from it." So she kneaded it and baked it, and it made one loaf. Then he said to me: "Invite the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)." I came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and there were some people with him (peace and blessings be upon him); I think the narrator said: "Eighty and some." I said: "O Messenger of Allah! Abu Talhah is inviting you." He (peace and blessings be upon him) said to his companions: "Accept Abu Talhah's invitation." I hurried back and told him that he and his companions were coming. He said: "By Allah! The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) knows better than I do what is in my house." Abu Talhah went forward to receive him and said: "By Allah! We have only one loaf. I saw you in a state of hunger, so I told Umm Sulaym to make a loaf for you." He (peace and blessings be upon him) called for the loaf and called for a large bowl, placed the loaf in it and asked: "Is there any ghee?" Abu Talhah said: "There is something in the skin." So he brought it, and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and Abu Talhah began squeezing it until something came out of it; the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) took it up with his index finger, then rubbed it on the loaf, then said: "Bismillah (In the name of Allah)." The loaf swelled up. He (peace and blessings be upon him) kept doing this, and the loaf kept swelling, until I saw the loaf spread out and soften in the bowl. Then he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Call ten of my companions for me." I called ten, and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) set down the loaf and said: "Eat, saying Bismillah." So they ate from around the loaf until they were full. He (peace and blessings be upon him) kept calling them ten at a time, and they kept eating from that loaf, until eighty and some men had eaten from around that loaf and were full. The narrator said: And the part of the loaf where the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) had placed his hand remained just as it was.
حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ الْخَشَّابُ الرَّقِّيُّ، ثنا عَمْرُو بْنُ قُسَيْطٍ، ح وَحَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ النَّضْرِ الْعَسْكَرِيُّ، ثنا سَعِيدُ بْنُ حَفْصٍ النُّفَيْلِيُّ، ثنا عُبَيْدُ اللهِ بْنُ عَمْرٍو، عَنْ عَبْدِ الْمَلِكِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ أَبِي لَيْلَى، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ، قَالَ: أَمَرَ أَبُو طَلْحَةَ أُمَّ سُلَيْمٍ، فَقَالَ: اصْنَعِي لِرَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ خَاصَّةً لِنَفْسِهِ طَعَامًا يَأْكُلُ مِنْهُ ثُمَّ أَرْسَلَنِي أَبُو طَلْحَةَ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَأَتَيْتُهُ فَقُلْتُ: بَعَثَنِي إِلَيْكَ أَبُو طَلْحَةَ، فَقَالَ لِلْقَوْمِ: قُومُوا فَلَقِيَنَا أَبُو طَلْحَةَ، فَقَالَ: يَا نَبِيَّ اللهِ، إِنَّمَا صَنَعْتُ لَكَ طَعَامًا لِنَفْسِكَ خَاصَّةً، فَقَالَ: لَا عَلَيْكَ انْطَلِقْ بِنَا فَانْطَلَقَ الْقَوْمُ مَعَهُ فَجَاءَ بِالطَّعَامِ إِنَّمَا جَعَلَهُ لِلنَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَحْدَهُ، وَوَضَعَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَدَهُ وَسَمَّى عَلَيْهِ، ثُمَّ قَالَ: ائْذَنْ لِعَشَرَةٍ فَأَذِنَ لَهُمْ فَدَخَلُوا، فَقَالَ: " كُلُوا بِسْمِ اللهُ، فَأَكَلُوا حَتَّى شَبِعُوا ثُمَّ قَامُوا وَوَضَعَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَدَهُ، كَمَا صَنَعَ فِي الْمَرَّةِ الْأُولَى وَسَمَّى، ثُمَّ قَالَ: ائْذَنْ لِعَشَرَةٍ قَالَ: حَتَّى فَعَلَ ذَلِكَ بِثَمَانِينَ رَجُلًا، ثُمَّ أَكَلَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، وَأَهْلُ الْبَيْتِ وَتَرَكُوا سُؤْرًا "
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him); he said: Abu Talhah (may Allah be pleased with him) instructed Umm Sulaym (may Allah be pleased with her) and said: "Make food especially for the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), for him (peace and blessings be upon him) alone, which he can eat himself." Then Abu Talhah sent me to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). I came to him (peace and blessings be upon him) and said: "Abu Talhah has sent me to you." He (peace and blessings be upon him) said to the people: "Get up." Abu Talhah met us and said: "O Prophet of Allah! I only prepared this food especially for you." He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "There is no harm; take us along." So all the people set off with him, and he brought the food that had been made for the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) alone. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) placed his hand and said Bismillah, then said: "Let ten come in." They were let in and they came in; he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Eat, saying Bismillah." So they ate until they were full, then got up, and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) placed his hand just as he had done the first time and said Bismillah, then said: "Let ten come in." The narrator said: Until he did that with eighty men. Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and the household ate and left some food over.
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عُثْمَانَ بْنِ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ، قَالَ: ثنا جَنْدَلُ بْنُ وَالْقٍ التَّغْلِبِيُّ، ثنا عُبَيْدُ اللهِ بْنُ عَمْرٍو، عَنْ عَبْدِ الْكَرِيمِ، عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي لَيْلَى، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ، قَالَ: " أَمَرَ أَبُو طَلْحَةَ أُمَّ سُلَيْمٍ، فَقَالَ: اصْنَعِي لِرَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ طَعَامًا لِنَفْسِهِ خَاصَّةً يَأْكُلُ مِنْهُ ثُمَّ ذَكَرَ " مِثْلَ حَدِيثِ عَمْرِو بْنِ قُسَيْطٍ وَسَعِيدِ بْنِ حَفْصٍ سَوَاءً
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him); he said: Abu Talhah (may Allah be pleased with him) instructed Umm Sulaym (may Allah be pleased with her) and said: "Make food especially for the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), for him (peace and blessings be upon him) alone, which he can eat himself." (Then the narrator) related exactly the same as the hadith of Amr bin Qusayt and Sa'id bin Hafs.
حَدَّثَنَا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ أَيُّوبَ الْمُخَرِّمِيُّ، ثنا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ عُمَرَ بْنِ أَبَانَ، ثنا عِمْرَانُ بْنُ عُيَيْنَةَ، عَنْ حُصَيْنِ عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ أَبِي لَيْلَى، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنِي أَنَسُ بْنُ مَالِكٍ: أَنَّ أَبَا طَلْحَةَ، وَكَانَ عَمَّهُ وَزَوْجَ أُمِّهِ " أَتَى بِمُدَّيْنِ مِنْ شَعِيرٍ، فَأَمَرَ بِهِمَا، فَصُنِعَا، ثُمَّ قَالَ لِيَ اذْهَبْ فَادْعُ لَنَا رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَدَعَوْتُهُ، فَقَالَ لِلْقَوْمِ: قُومُوا فأَقْبَلَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَأَقْبَلْتُ بَيْنَ يَدَيْهِ حَتَّى دَخَلْتُ عَلَى أَبِي طَلْحَةَ، فَقَالَ: مَا فَعَلْتَ أَوْ مَا صَنَعْتَ؟ قُلْتُ: قَدْ دَعَوْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، فَقَالَ لِلْقَوْمِ: قُومُوا، فَقَالَ: أَوَ مَا عَلِمْتَ مَا عِنْدَنَا؟ قُلْتُ: بَلَى وَلَكِنْ لَمْ أَسْتَطِعْ أَنْ أَقُولَ لِرَسُولِ اللهِ شَيْئًا فَلَمَّا انْتَهَى رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِلَى الْبَابِ دَعَا عَشَرَةً عَشَرَةً، فَتَكَلَّمَ بِمَا شَاءَ اللهُ، فَقَالَ لِلْقَوْمِ: اطْعَمُوا فَأَكَلُوا حَتَّى شَبِعُوا ثُمَّ خَرَجُوا، وَدَعَا عَشَرَةً آخَرِينَ حَتَّى أَكَلَ مِنْهَا ثَمَانُونَ رَجُلًا، وَفَضَلَ مَا شَبِعَ مِنْهُ أَهْلُ الْبَيْتِ "
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) that Abu Talhah (may Allah be pleased with him), who was his uncle and his mother's husband, brought two mudd of barley and had them prepared, then said to me: "Go and invite the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) for us." I invited him (peace and blessings be upon him), and he (peace and blessings be upon him) said to the people: "Get up." The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) came, and I walked ahead of him (peace and blessings be upon him) until I reached Abu Talhah. He said: "What have you done?" I said: "I invited the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), and he (peace and blessings be upon him) said to the people: 'Get up.'" Abu Talhah said: "Do you not know what we have?" I said: "I do know, but I could not bring myself to say anything to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)." When the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) reached the door, he (peace and blessings be upon him) called in ten men at a time and said what Allah willed, then said to the people: "Eat." So they ate until they were full and went out; then he called ten more, until eighty men had eaten from it, and food was left over for the household too after they had eaten their fill.
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الزِّنْبَاعِ رَوْحُ بْنُ الْفَرَجِ، ثنا يَحْيَى بْنُ بُكَيْرٍ، ثنا ابْنُ لَهِيعَةَ، عَنْ عُمَارَةَ بْنِ غَزِيَّةَ، أَنَّ رَبِيعَةَ بْنَ أَبِي عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ، أَخْبَرَهُ أَنَّهُ، سَمِعَ أَنَسَ بْنَ مَالِكٍ، يَقُولُ: أَقْبَلَ أَبُو طَلْحَةَ يَوْمًا فَإِذَا النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَائِمٌ يُقْرِئُ أَصْحَابَ الصُّفَّةِ عَلَى بَطْنِهِ فَصِيلٌ مِنْ حَجَرٍ يُقِيمُ بِهِ بَطْنَهُ مِنَ الْجُوعِ، فَرَجَعَ إِلَى أُمِّ سُلَيْمٍ فَقَالَ: لَقَدْ رَأَيْتُ بِرَسُولِ اللهِ مَا أَغَاظَنِي فَهَلْ عِنْدَكِ مِنْ شَيْءٍ؟ قَالَتْ: نَعَمْ شَيْءٌ مِنْ شَعِيرٍ، فَقَالَ لِيَ: اصْنَعِيهِ فَصَنَعْتُهُ، فَقَالَ لِيَ: اذْهَبْ فَادْعُ نَبِيَّ اللهِ وَلَا يَعْلَمْ بِكَ أَحَدٌ، قَالَ أَنَسٌ: فَلَمَّا رَآنِي النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: أَرْسَلَكَ أَبُو طَلْحَةَ؟ قُلْتُ: نَعَمْ، قَالَ: قُومُوا فَقَامَ مَعَهُ سَبْعُونَ فَأَتَيْتُ أَبَا طَلْحَةَ، فَأَخْبَرْتُهُ فَقَالَ: يَا نَبِيَّ اللهِ إِنَّمَا هُوَ شَيْءٌ صَنَعْنَاهُ لَكَ وَاللهِ مَا عِنْدَنَا مَا نَحْتَسِيهِمْ، فَقَالَ: " هَلُمَّ مَا عِنْدَكَ، فَأَتَيْتُهُ بِهِ وَكَانَتْ عِنْدَ أُمِّ سُلَيْمٍ عُكَّةُ السَّمْنِ، فَجَعَلَتْ تَعْصِرُهَا حَتَّى تَأْدُمَ بِهِ الطَّعَامَ، ثُمَّ وَضَعَ يَدَهُ ثُمَّ قَالَ: تَعَالَوْا عَشَرَةً عَشَرَةً فَجَعَلُوا يَأْكُلُونَ لَا يَرْعَى أَحَدٌ مِنْهُمْ عَلَى أَحَدٍ حَتَّى ثَمِلُوا، وَأَفْضَلُوا حَتَّى أَهْدَتْ أُمُّ سُلَيْمٍ لِجِيرَانِهَا "
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him); he said: One day Abu Talhah (may Allah be pleased with him) came and saw the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) standing and teaching the Qur'an to the people of the Suffah, and a stone was tied over his (peace and blessings be upon him) stomach to keep his stomach straight because of hunger. So he went back to Umm Sulaym (may Allah be pleased with her) and said: "I have seen in the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) a state that has grieved me deeply; do you have anything?" She said: "Yes, there is some barley." He said: "Prepare it." So I prepared it. Then he said to me: "Go and invite the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and do not let anyone know." Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) said: When the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) saw me, he asked: "Has Abu Talhah sent you?" I said: "Yes." He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Get up." So seventy men got up with him (peace and blessings be upon him). I came to Abu Talhah and told him, and he said: "O Prophet of Allah! It is only something we prepared for you; by Allah, we do not have enough to give them anything to drink." He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Bring what you have." So I brought it. Umm Sulaym (may Allah be pleased with her) had a skin of ghee, and she squeezed it until she had put condiment on the food with it. Then he (peace and blessings be upon him) placed his hand, then said: "Come ten at a time." So they began eating, none of them minding another, until all of them were full, and food was left over, so much that Umm Sulaym (may Allah be pleased with her) also gave some as a gift to her neighbours.
حَدَّثَنَا سَهْلُ بْنُ مُوسَى شِيرَانُ الرَّامَهُرْمُزِيُّ، ثنا عِيسَى بْنُ شَاذَانَ، ثنا الصَّلْتُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الْخَارِكِيُّ أَبُو هَمَّامٍ، ثنا حَمَّادُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ، عَنِ الْجَعْدِ أَبِي عُثْمَانَ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ، وَهِشَامٍ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدٍ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ، وَذَكَرَهُ سِنَانٌ أَبُو رَبِيعَةَ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ، أَنَّ أُمَّهُ أُمَّ سُلَيْمٍ، عَمَدَتْ إِلَى مُدَّيْنِ مِنْ شَعِيرٍ، فَهَشَّتْهُ فَجَعَلَتْ مِنْهُ خَطِيفَةً وَعَصَرَتْ عُكَّةً كَانَتْ عِنْدَهَا، ثُمَّ بَعَثْتَنِي إِلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، فَأَتَيْتُهُ وَهُوَ فِي أَصْحَابِهِ، فَدَعَوْتُهُ فَقَالَ: وَمَنْ مَعِيَ؟ فَجِئْتُ أُمِّي، فَقُلْتُ: إِنَّهُ يَقُولُ: وَمَنْ مَعِيَ؟ فَجَاءَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي أَصْحَابِهِ، فَخَرَجَ إِلَيْهِ أَبُو طَلْحَةَ، فَقَالَ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ إِنَّمَا هُوَ شَيْءٌ صَنَعَتْهُ أُمُّ سُلَيْمٍ لَكَ، فَتَبَسَّمَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، فَدَخَلَ فَجِيءَ بِهِ، فَقَالَ: «أَدْخِلْ عَلَيَّ عَشَرَةً» ، فَدَخَلُوا فَأَكَلُوا حَتَّى شَبِعُوا، ثُمَّ قَالَ: «أَدْخِلْ عَشَرَةً» ، حَتَّى عَدَّ أَرْبَعِينَ، ثُمَّ أَكَلَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، ثُمَّ قَامَ فَجَعَلْتُ أَنْظُرُ هَلْ نَقَصَ مِنْهَا شَيْءٌ "
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) that his mother, Sayyidah Umm Sulaym (may Allah be pleased with her), took two mudd of barley, ground them and prepared khatifah (a gruel) from it, and squeezed a skin she had. Then she sent me to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). I came to him (peace and blessings be upon him) while he (peace and blessings be upon him) was among his companions and invited him (peace and blessings be upon him). He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "And my companions too?" So I came to my mother and told her that he (peace and blessings be upon him) was saying: My companions too? Then the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) came with his companions, and Abu Talhah went out to him and said: "O Messenger of Allah! It is only something Umm Sulaym has made for you." The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) smiled, then went inside, and the food was brought. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Bring ten in to me." They came in and ate until they were full; then he said: "Bring ten in." Until he had counted up to forty. Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) ate, then stood up, and I began to look whether anything had decreased from it.
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدَانُ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ، ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ، لُوَيْنٌ ثنا حَمَّادُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ، عَنْ هِشَامٍ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدٍ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ، قَالَ: " صَنَعَتْ أُمُّ سُلَيْمٍ خَطِيفَةً مِنْ شَعِيرٍ كَانَ عِنْدَهَا حُسْتُهُ، قَالَ: فَأَرْسَلَتْنِي إِلَيْهِ أَدْعُوهُ فَأَتَيْتُهُ فَقُلْتُ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ إِنَّ أُمَّ سُلَيْمٍ صَنَعَتْ لَكَ خَطِيفَةً مِنْ شَعِيرٍ، قَالَ: أَنَا وَمَنْ مَعِيَ؟ قَالَ: فَرَجَعْتُ إِلَيْهَا، فَأَخْبَرْتُهَا، فَجَاءَ أَبُو طَلْحَةَ، فَقَالَ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ إِنَّمَا هُوَ مُدٌّ وَأَقَلُّ مِنْ مُدٍّ جَعَلَتْ لَكَ أُمُّ سُلَيْمٍ، قَالَ: أَنَا وَمَنْ مَعِيَ؟ فَقَامَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَمَنْ مَعَهُ، فَدَخَلَ الْمَنْزِلَ فَقَالَ لِي: «يَا أَنَسُ أَدْخِلْ عَلَيَّ عَشَرَةً» ، فَدَخَلَ عَشَرَةٌ، فَأَكَلُوا حَتَّى شَبِعُوا، ثُمَّ قَالَ: «أَدْخِلْ عَشَرَةً» ، فَدَخَلَ عَشَرَةٌ، فَأَكَلُوا حَتَّى شَبِعُوا، ثُمَّ قَالَ: «أَدْخِلْ عَشَرَةً عَلَيَّ» قُلْتُ لِأَنَسٍ كَمْ كَانُوا قَالَ: ثَلَاثِينَ أَوْ أَرْبَعِينَ، فَأَكَلُوا حَتَّى شَبِعُوا ثُمَّ أَكَلَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، وَأَكَلْنَا حَتَّى شَبِعْنَا، قَالَ: فَكَأَنَّهُ لَمْ يَنْقُصْ مِنْهُ شَيْءٌ " وَفِي حَدِيثِ أَبِي طَلْحَةَ شَيْءٌ مِنْ شَعِيرٍ جَعَلَتْهُ أُمُّ سُلَيْمٍ وَعَصَرَتْ عَلَيْهِ عُكَّةً كَانَ فِيهَا سَمْنٌ
Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) said: Umm Sulaym (may Allah be pleased with her) prepared khatifah (a gruel) from barley she had with her, which she had ground. The narrator said: Then she sent me to him (peace and blessings be upon him) to invite him (peace and blessings be upon him). I went to him (peace and blessings be upon him) and said: "O Messenger of Allah! Umm Sulaym has prepared barley khatifah for you." He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Me and those with me?" The narrator said: I went back to her and told her. Then Abu Talhah came and said: "O Messenger of Allah! It is only one mudd or less than a mudd that Umm Sulaym has made for you." He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "For me and those with me?" So the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and his (peace and blessings be upon him) companions got up and entered the house, and he (peace and blessings be upon him) said to me: "O Anas! Bring ten in to me." Ten came in and ate until they were full. Then he said: "Bring ten in." Ten came in and ate until they were full. Then he said: "Bring ten in to me." I asked Anas: "How many were they?" He said: "Thirty or forty." All of them ate until they were full; then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) ate, and we ate too until we were full. The narrator said: It was as if nothing at all had decreased from it. And in the narration of Abu Talhah it is that it was some barley which Umm Sulaym (may Allah be pleased with her) prepared, and she squeezed over it a skin that had ghee in it.
