Water was put out for him to cool himself, and he took a ritual bath (ghusl); then a wrap dyed with wars was brought, which he put on, and I saw the trace of the wars on the folds of his belly. Then he came and sat down and said: "O Allah, send down Your mercy upon the Ansar, upon the offspring of the Ansar, and upon the offspring of the offspring of the Ansar." Then, when he (peace and blessings be upon him) was about to leave, a donkey was brought, over which a cloth was laid that was neither of silk nor of wool, and Sa'd (may Allah be pleased with him) sent his son with him to bring the donkey back. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Seat him in front of me." Sa'd (may Allah be pleased with him) said: O Messenger of Allah, should I seat him in front of you? He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Yes, he has more right to the front of his own donkey." He said: O Messenger of Allah, the donkey is yours. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Then seat him behind me."
