Mention of Khalid bin al-Walid (may Allah be pleased with him)

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him): I descended with the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) from the mountain pass of Harsha, and (on the way) the strap of his (peace and blessings be upon him) sandal broke. I offered him (peace and blessings be upon him) my own strap, but he (peace and blessings be upon him) declined to accept it, and he (peace and blessings be upon him) sat down in the shade of a tree to repair his sandal. Meanwhile he (peace and blessings be upon him) asked me: "Look, whom do you see?" I said: "This is so-and-so." He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "What a wretched servant of Allah so-and-so is!" Then he (peace and blessings be upon him) asked me: "Look, whom do you see?" I said: "This is so-and-so." He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "What a wretched servant of Allah so-and-so is!" The narrator says: Then he (peace and blessings be upon him) asked me: "Look, whom do you see?" I said: "This is so-and-so." Then he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "What an excellent servant of Allah so-and-so is!" The one about whom he (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "What an excellent servant of Allah so-and-so is," was Sayyiduna Khalid bin al-Walid (may Allah be pleased with him); as for the other two, I will not tell anyone about them.
Abu Ma'shar is a weak narrator.

It is narrated from Qays bin Abi Hazim (may Allah have mercy on him) that he was informed that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Do not revile Khalid (bin al-Walid (may Allah be pleased with him)), for he is one of the swords of Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, which Allah Almighty has drawn (unsheathed) against the disbelievers."
The chain of this hadith is sahih (authentic).

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abi Awfa (may Allah be pleased with him) that Sayyiduna Abd al-Rahman bin Awf (may Allah be pleased with him) complained about Sayyiduna Khalid bin al-Walid (may Allah be pleased with him) to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), so he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "O Khalid, why do you hurt a man from the people of Badr? Even if you were to spend (in the way of Allah) gold equal to (Mount) Uhud, you would not attain the rank of his deeds." Upon this, Sayyiduna Khalid (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "O Messenger of Allah, these people speak ill of me, so I (in turn) respond to them." Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Do not hurt Khalid, for he is a sword among the swords of Allah Almighty, which Allah has set loose upon the disbelievers."
Abu Isma'il al-Mu'addib narrated this from Isma'il bin Abi Khalid, from al-Sha'bi, from Ibn Abi Awfa (may Allah be pleased with him), and Imam Abu Ya'la recorded it through Abdullah bin Awn al-Khazzaz.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Khalid bin al-Walid (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said: "Indeed, being occupied with jihad in the way of Allah Almighty kept me from reciting the Noble Qur'an abundantly."
This hadith is sahih (authentic).

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Khalid bin al-Walid (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said: "A night in which a bride whom I love is brought to my house, or in which I am given the glad tidings of the birth of a son, is not dearer to me than a night of bitter cold and heavy frost spent with a detachment of mujahidin, at whose dawn I attack the enemy."
Imam Ibn Abi Shaybah narrated this report in al-Musannaf (no. 19446) and Imam Ibn al-Mubarak in al-Jihad (no. 101), and its chain is sahih (authentic).

It is narrated from Abu al-Safar (may Allah have mercy on him) that Sayyiduna Khalid bin al-Walid (may Allah be pleased with him) stayed with the Marazibah (the Persian chiefs and governors), and they warned him, saying: "Beware of poison, lest the non-Arabs give it to you to drink." He (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "Bring that poison to me." So when it was brought, he took it in his hand and then drank it, and said: 'Bismillah' (In the name of Allah). And the poison did not harm him in the least.
[This narration is recorded in Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah: 24208 and Abu Ya'la: 7183; Imam al-Hakim declared it sahih (authentic).]

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Khalid bin al-Walid (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said: "We performed an Umrah with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), in which he (peace and blessings be upon him) had his hair shaved, so I hastened and obtained the hair of his (peace and blessings be upon him) forelock. Then I took a cap and sewed that hair into the front part of the cap. After that, in whatever battle or direction I was sent, the way to victory and success was opened for me by the help of Allah."
Takhrij: Imam Ahmad bin Hanbal narrated this hadith in his Musnad (16828); Imam al-Hakim declared it sahih in al-Mustadrak (3/299) and Imam al-Dhahabi agreed with him, while Allamah al-Haythami stated in Majma' al-Zawa'id that its chain consists of thiqat (trustworthy) narrators.
