وَبِهِ قَالَ خَالِدٌ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ : مَا لَيْلَةٌ يُهْدَى إِلَى بَيْتِي فِيهَا عَرُوسٌ أَنَا لَهَا مُحِبٌّ ، أَوْ أُبَشَّرَ فِيهَا بِغُلَامٍ ، بِأَحَبَّ إِلَيَّ مِنْ لَيْلَةٍ شَدِيدَةِ الْجَلِيدِ فِي سَرِيَّةٍ مِنَ الْمُجَاهِدِينَ أُصَبِّحُ بِهَا الْعَدُوَّ .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Khalid bin al-Walid (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said: "A night in which a bride whom I love is brought to my house, or in which I am given the glad tidings of the birth of a son, is not dearer to me than a night of bitter cold and heavy frost spent with a detachment of mujahidin, at whose dawn I attack the enemy."
Imam Ibn Abi Shaybah narrated this report in al-Musannaf (no. 19446) and Imam Ibn al-Mubarak in al-Jihad (no. 101), and its chain is sahih (authentic).
