It is narrated from Sayyiduna al-Zubayr bin al-Awwam (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever guarantees me six things, I guarantee Paradise for him." It was said: O Messenger of Allah! What are those six things? He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "When he speaks, he speaks the truth; when he makes a promise, he fulfils it; when he is entrusted with something, he discharges the trust; and whoever lowers his gaze, guards his private parts and restrains his hand (from harming anyone)."
I (Ibn Hajar) say: Imam Ishaq narrated it in this way in the Musnad of al-Zubayr bin al-Awwam (may Allah be pleased with him), and Ahmad bin Mansur al-Ramadi also narrated it in this way from Abd al-Razzaq, while other narrators narrated it from Abu Ishaq, from Zubayr, without identifying his lineage. So if Ma'mar preserved it accurately, its chain is sahih but it is munqati' (broken); and if Zuhayr preserved it, then it is muttasil (connected).

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Dharr (may Allah be pleased with him): I asked the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) what it is that saves the servant from the Fire of Hell. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Faith in Allah." I said: O Prophet of Allah! Must there also be some (physical or financial) deed along with faith? He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "That he gives something (in the way of Allah) from what Allah has provided." I said: O Prophet of Allah! Tell me, if that person is himself destitute and has nothing to give in charity, what should he do? He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Then he should enjoin what is good and forbid what is evil." I said: O Messenger of Allah! What do you think if that person is halting of speech (or weak) and does not have the ability to enjoin good and forbid evil? He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Then he should help an unskilled person, or someone unfamiliar with a task (in his work)." I said: O Messenger of Allah! Tell me, if he himself is unskilled and cannot do any work properly? He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "He should help someone who is overpowered (that is, someone oppressed or helpless)." I said: O Messenger of Allah! What if he is so weak that he does not even have the strength to help someone overpowered? He (peace and blessings be upon him) said (at my many questions): "Do you not want to leave any way of good open for your companion?" Then he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "He should keep his harm away from people." I said: O Prophet of Allah! If that person does one of these things, will he enter Paradise? He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "There is no believer who adopts even one of these qualities but that quality will take him by the hand until it brings him into Paradise."
Imam Abu Bakr bin Abi Shaybah narrated this hadith, and all its narrators are thiqat (trustworthy); Imam al-Albani graded it sahih.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Iyadh (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) sent him on a sariyyah (military detachment), and they crossed through the lands of the desert Arabs (and came back bringing some people). When he came before the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), some of them (the captives) claimed that they had already accepted Islam. He (peace and blessings be upon him) asked: "Who knows this to be true?" They said: Iyadh heard this from us himself. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "O Iyadh! Did you actually hear this, or are you a witness to it?" I said: I heard the sound of the adhan (there) and heard the words 'La ilaha illallah' (there is no god worthy of worship except Allah). So the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) set those people free (honourably).
Imam Abu Ya'la al-Mawsili recorded this hadith in his Musnad; its chain contains Bishr bin Suhar, whose condition is unknown (mastur); however, the meaning of judging a settlement to be Muslim rather than disbelieving upon hearing the adhan is established by other authentic narrations of Sahih al-Bukhari and Muslim.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Bakr al-Siddiq (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said (to me): "Go out and announce among the people that whoever bears witness that there is no god worthy of worship except Allah, Paradise has become due for him." Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) said: Then I went out (with this command), and I met Sayyiduna Umar bin al-Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him). He asked: O Abu Bakr! What is the matter with you (where are you going)? I replied that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) had said this to me, and then I told him the whole matter. Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said (on hearing this): "Go back, for I fear that people will rely solely on this (glad tidings) (and become lax in righteous deeds)." So I returned to the noble presence of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), and he (peace and blessings be upon him) asked: "What made you come back?" I informed him (peace and blessings be upon him) of what Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) had said, upon which the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Umar has spoken the truth."
Imam Abu Ya'la recorded this hadith in his Musnad (2889); its narrator Suwayd bin Sa'id is saduq (truthful), but Suwayd bin Abd al-Aziz is da'if (weak); however, the origin of this incident is found in Sahih Muslim (hadith: 31) in the narration of Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him), which mentions this same prudent advice of Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) and its endorsement by the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him).
