It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that Sayyiduna Umar al-Faruq (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "The worst of people are of three kinds: first, a man who acts arrogantly towards his parents and humiliates and belittles them; second, a man who strives to create discord between a man and his wife, and in this matter wrongfully supports the man against his wife until he causes them to separate, and then afterwards marries that woman himself; and third, a man who strives to spread corruption among people through lies until they become enemies of one another and harbour hatred and enmity towards each other."
The chain of this athar (report) contains Musa bin Ubaydah al-Rabadhi, a weak narrator, for which reason this narration is weak in its chain.

Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates from Sayyiduna Umar bin al-Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said: I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) saying: "There are three people whom Allah Almighty will curse on the Day of Resurrection: a man who turned away from his parents (that is, he cut off his ties with them or refused to acknowledge his lineage from them); a second who strove to separate a husband and his wife so that, after their separation, he himself could marry that woman; and a third who strove to spread mischief among the believers through tale-bearing and talk, so that they would become enemies of one another and harbour hatred and rancour among themselves."
In the chain of this report, Baqiyyah bin al-Walid is a "mudallis" and he did not state explicitly that he heard it from Habib bin Najih; moreover, Habib took it from unnamed narrators (some of the people of Madinah). Therefore, in terms of scholarly and technical assessment, this report is da'if (weak).

It is narrated from Sayyidah Asma' bint Yazid (may Allah be pleased with her) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "O people! Shall I not tell you about the best among you?" The Companions (may Allah be pleased with them) said: "Of course, O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)!" He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The best of you are those who, when they are seen, Allah is remembered, and (on seeing them) hearts find comfort and tranquillity. Shall I not tell you about the worst among you?" They said: "Of course (please tell us)." He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Indeed, the worst of you are those who go about spreading tale-bearing, who sow corruption and discord between those who love one another, and 'al-baghuna lil-bura' al-'anat', that is, those who seek out faults, hardship and harm for the innocent and the chaste."
Imam Abu Ya'la recorded this hadith in his Musnad. Its chain contains Shahr bin Hawshab, whose memory has been criticised; however, on the strength of supporting reports, this hadith is of the hasan (good) grade.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever is two-tongued in this world (that is, he adopts duplicity and hypocrisy among people and stirs up strife and mischief), Allah, Glorified and Exalted, will make for him two tongues of fire on the Day of Resurrection."
Imam Ibn Abi Umar recorded this report through Marwan bin Mu'awiyah, Isma'il bin Muslim and al-Hasan al-Basri from Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him); and Imam Abu Ya'la also narrated the like of it through Humayd bin Mas'adah, Ar'arah bin al-Birind, Isma'il bin Muslim, al-Hasan al-Basri and Qatadah, and through Abdullah bin Umar bin Aban from al-Muharibi and Isma'il bin Muslim.
